In today's video, we are taking an older Dell Inspiron office PC and giving it a new life as a budget gaming PC with some flashy RGB for around $300. This is super easy to do with a little bit of modding but if you are on a budget and or want a fun project, these little PCs may be a good option for you.

I've owned and upgraded the 3847 during it's entire 4-5 year life. The configuration my dad bought it in was 12GB DDR3, 2TB HDD, and the i5. This computer was my first personally owned PC and the first PC that I've upgraded. I can't say how much I love this Dell, but I've moved on from it and I gave it to my cousins.

@@NexusFantismo it would fit kinda but you would have to remove the bracket because it would be to big and put something under it so its not loose and it gets support. I would recommend a a low profile card from msi. i got mine for 78 bucks. www.msi.com/Graphics-card/Radeon-RX-550-4GT-LP-OC.html

I had this exact same model Inspiron that I was trying to repurpose. My friend and I spent like two hours trying to figure out how to best go about getting the system to post. First, I cut off the wires from proprietary switch that connected to the Inspiron power button and unpinned the power switch cable from the case. Make sure to label which one is positive and which one is negative though it's not really needed. My friend helped me strip off the very thin plastic from the Dell wires and then splice them into the power switch from the new case. The next step would be to wrap the spliced wires very carefully with electrical tape. If you don't wrap the spliced wires well enough, there won't be a good connection to boot the computer up. If you know how to solder, take some lead free rosin core solder wire and solder that into the spliced cables for better results. The only two wires you really need to splice are the blue and brown ones since those turn the computer on.

Why non super 1650? 1650super costs around the same and has like 40% better performance.. You could throw in an argument of non super not requiring additional power, but super variant would work just fine with 6pin adapted from molex or sata.. Its just additional 25w, its like 2 or 3 hard drives.. and molex and sata can theoretically handle up to 62 and 54 watts respectively.. I mean, i like what you are doing but I dont understand some of your desicions

I have a similar Dell Inspiron but mine came with a pentium processor 👎. I put a xeon e3 1240v3 in it and no compatibility issues! Although I think the wattage it pulls is just about max the the motherboard can supply, but oh well it works

my optiplex build i5 3rd 8gb ram 1tb hd rx 580 4gb 500w EVGA psu this whole system cost me $220 all 1080p 200 fps csgo max 144 fps fortnite ultra everything (shadows off) 60 to 80 fps (depending on the season) forza horizon 4 Extreme settings not to be confused with ultra which is lower 70 fps warzone on pro settings...as you know on warzone having 8gb ram is just not enough. you can watch comparison videos showing 8gb vs 16gb and the 16gb has like 20 to 30 fps more also i get huge fps stutters like every 10 sec to 15fps im gonna get 16gb eventually.

Shouldn't be a problem. Add an extra case for for better airflow and if in your budget, upgrade the cpu fan

Yep. There are listings on Craigslists and Facebook Marketplace for people offering such a service. Though there are SEVERAL DOZEN tutorials on RU-vid you can follow. Watch them until you notice the patterns, so you can DIY your rig, and save some money. It's. Satisfying

@@ToastyBros Can that be a reason why when I put all 4 of my memory sticks in my PC it wont boot but when I have two in it works. I hate that it cuts my ram capacity from 16 to 8. I could probably just get a dual channel kit or should I just fix the pins?
