Basically a bunch of people started to beat up officer west and his partner (the guy looking over him in disbelief) witnessed it and still neglected to save him, as later proven on his body cam. The point of the episode was that officer west wanted to change the face of the police community, and he nearly dies in doing so which leaves a good message for his character
^ the reason he wanted to enact change was because the officer standing over him was a racist cop who constantly used forced in unnecessary scenarios against innocent people
@@Knutterbife nah. Doug had turned his body cam off multiple times during situations he knew he wasn’t gonna do the right thing and Jackson was a quick learner. He knew it was only a matter of time before he’d be able to catch him
for the people who don’t understand the bodycam part, body worn cameras actually save footage from at least 30 seconds before they are activated, in order to get sort of a before picture of any actions taken. so that footage would have showed what officer stanton was doing prior to backup arriving, when he was standing behind a wall watching his partner nearly be beat to death
@@jaylin3321 I’ve never heard of a bodycam that saves fifteen minutes prior to being activated, but most I’ve seen save 30 sec or at the most a minute before
Context: This officer was FORCED to give up his gun and badge because allowed and watched his rookie officer get assaulted by four suspects because the rookie cop had been questioning how he handled citizens of color in the city of Los Angeles. The female cop that is with him is also a rookie and is his roommate. The other cop who is calling for an officer down is her Training Officer. The cop taking his gun and badge is the Sergeant Watch Commander. All three of these police officers were working with the rookie officer trying to get enough evidence to get Officer Doug Stanton fired for the way he treated suspects and citizens of color. A different division ended up letting Officer Stanton onto the force and he convinced everyone at that station that he was wrongfully terminated from the Mid-Wilshire station. The Sergeant Watch Commander reached out to the other Watch Commander and told her what happened and they showed the entire day shift Stanton's bodycam footage and got him fired for good.
it is. If I remember correctly, his new boss didn’t really want him either but her hands were tied by the higher ups. Showing the body cam footage to the other officers was a great move, they found out exactly who he was and he could no longer deny it.
Search for context, Doug Stanton is a racist cop. You have to watch the show to understand this but west, which is the guy who ended up getting beat up went undercover ass his partner to expose him as a racist police officer to get him fired. They ended up getting into a fight Weston Stanton and they took a car where they were chasing this SUV and it led them to this apartment complex west had walked into this group of guys and went to request back up and they started beating on him. Doug walked around the complex and watch from a far as west, was beaten to death, which is why officer West clicked his body cam, so it would roll back the last 15 minutes of recording they reviewed the footage and seen that Stanton had seen West being beaten, but did not walk over to help him because Stanton was mad that west had called him out on being racist later in the show, you will see Doug be permanently shamed by all police officers of the LAPD for being a racist cop and not helping his partner
In real life he just would’ve moved out of state and became a LEO in either Georgia, Florida, Arkansas, Texas (pre uvalde), Mississippi, or Oklahoma. All of those states will and do actively look for police officers that have been ostracized by fellow officers. All in the of preserving “the thin blue line”
@@leodavis4242we don't use the same model as police where I work but ours rollback the last 20 minutes, most higher grade ones have the memory capacity of up to an hour.
The fact that west after getting beaten up so badly still reaches for Stanton's bodycam shows how determined he was to make a change in that department. So sad Stanton still remained a part of LAPD after this.
Let’s not forget that when Lucy and Tim arrived on scene, Doug lied and said he had “no idea where his boot went.” He had already seen Jackson getting beat up when he told them this
I don’t know how people take this show serious after dim and juicy. But in all seriousness people are really like this and Jackson (the actor) left the show because of these stuff and wants to help and solve that.
I hate that they had this storyline with Jackson for a while just to later give him such a sad and sudden fate. It was realistic to sadly what happens in the real world, but still really hard to watch. I really enjoyed his character.
@@unclekeef4496 yeah, he was but the original comment said the they were sad about Jackson's fate, the person I responded to said "yeah because may be you like the corrupted police office the way you are corrupted" Jackson is the black cop. Hence why I asked that person Harman Bose, what they mean.
If you didn't know, the officer that was injured (Jackson West) that switched off that thing. That thing is a body camera. Essentially a camera that records your entire shift as an officer. Thats how Jackson caught his partner (Doug Stanton) in violation of LAPD code by abandoning his partner.
dude fired from the police, change his name into Palmer, move to Star City, finds out has a genius brain, build A.T.O.M Suit, because one of the Superheroes
T.O Stanton turned off his body cam so no one would know he didn't care to help West, but when West switched it on it always rewinds 2 minutes, so Sergeant Grey saw the footage and put him on admin leave
I loved this episode because all you where thinking is turn on his body camera as it is mentioned multiple times in the series that badly cameras record all the time and if you turn them on a couple mins after an event it will have all the footage from the last few mins
In the show, they say the cam records two minutes before it turns on. The shit cop turned his off so his partner leaned in to turn it on and save the last two minutes where he lets him get beat up
And then he got his badge back at another precinct and twisted the truth making the victim the bad guy. BUT THEN they showed the chest cam footage to the whole precinct and he was officially terminated.
Context for those who need it This is mostly what I've pieced together through watching shorts so forgive me if there are pieces missing The cop turning his badge in has been shown to be a racist going as far as to racially profile a kid and try to arrest his entire family, the officer that was beaten up and laying on the ground was his partner who was going to do all he can to get him removed from his position due to his racism Shortly before this scene the racist saw his partner getting jumped by a group and instead of doing anything he just stood by and watched them when he realized other cops were coming, or they said over their radio I do not remember, he turned off his body cam and acted like he was running to the direction they were coming from and that's when they "found" him
Imagine a full blown cop on cop crime happening nearby and just watching other cops draw on one who refuses to give the gun and badge up. That would definetly be a story worth telling
btw what he did to the body cam was turn it on, and they automatically rewind 2 minutes and the cam recorded him not helping his partner while he was getting beat up.
The "Good Cop" question can be disposed of decisively. We need only consider the following; i. Every cop has agreed, as part of his job, to enforce laws; all of them ii. Many of these laws are manifestly unjust, or even cruel and wicked iii. Therefore, every cop has agreed to act as an enforcer of laws that are manifestly unjust, or even cruel and wicked There are no good cops - Dr. Robert Higgs
@@davidl9507 quick question. doesn’t this make the law the bad guy here? not the cop? there are tons of laws that are completely necessary and morally just, like laws against murder, rape, theft, assault, etc. They enforce those laws too. does that mean that the cop that arrests the dude that rapes and kills a child, is a bad cop by the logic you apply?
@@jq_gaming Good question, yes -because cops have what they call 'discretionary enforcement' example; if they see me speeding or failing to signal before making a lane change I get a ticket, but if they see a fellow cop or the mayor, the police chiefs wife or sister do the exact same thing suddenly cops don't see it, they just ignore it -I mean when you look at the news do you see more stories about cops doing good or of cops doing bad?
i know a lot of people are telling the story but ima do it too. So basically the guy with black hair was racist and Officer West was trying to get him to get fired. he kept telling the Chief. The chief also tried to help the best he could but he also couldn't do anything. Well then they wen't to an apartment. There where a lot of bad people there. There was a group of guys and they beat up Officer West. But Officer Stanton stayed behind a corner and watched until the bad guys left. Then he ran up to Officer West and called in what happened. Everyone then came and helped Officer West. He was badly hurt but he soon recovers. Officer Stanton did get fired but was hired by another station. So West was mad. Also Officer West does die later in the show by La Fyeta. The show is called The Rookie its on Hulu. Sorry that this is so long.
sooo basically, people stared kicking and beating him up the offers that said this isn't over he saw and.did,t did nothing and just stared and left him like that, so they fired him Omg ty for the likes😁
No, he was the Rookie's TO. He was however also a racist who the Rookie was building a case to take to his father in Internal Affairs. The TO, Stanton, had turned off his body cam in the hopes of eliminating video evidence of him abandoning his partner. However, the camera keeps the last few minutes in storage when turned off. That's what West was turning on the cam for. SO it would get uploaded. When SGT Grey saw the footage, he placed Stanton under suspension. Stanton ultimately kept his job under appeal but lost his TO status and got demoted as well as transferred to a new division. Grey and West later ensured that the new Sgt got the footage to show to Stanton's new co-workers to ensure they knew what kind f man he was.
When he turns his body can thing I like literally screamed, “HAHA HOW U LIKE THAT HAHAHAHA REVENGEEEEEE SERVES HIM RIGHT BAHAHAHAHAHA” and my parents looked at me like I was crazy but it was so worth it
@@Raikuv wrong, he was his partner. Stanton didnt act to save him from a violent beating and intentionally left his body cam off. In short, Stanton was racist.
So a bunch of people got into an orgy and started beating him with their wieners and he got his partner to record everything which got his partner disbanded. I hope I Dx(ick)plained that well enough for you.
Officer Stanton was extremely racist. The Officer that got beat up was his partner and was trying to get proof of his racism. Stanton saw him getting beat up and hid and let it happen. Stanton had turned off his body cam but when West reached up and turned it on it automatically saved the last few minutes that were on it. When the Sergeant viewed that saved body cam video it proved that Stanton let his partner get beaten.
To answer some questions... Stanton watched a bunch of guys almost beat West to death and stood around a corner and did nothing. The body cam is technically always on but by West "turning it on" it restores and saves the past 2 minutes. Stanton was restored to active duty in another department. West showed his new colleagues the footage after he recovered and found out he was reinstated. Stanton had been lying to them about what happened, but the footage doesn't lie. This is a great show! ❤❤❤
Been watching your videos for years and now I have my class this weekend. Nervous since I never been on a motorcycle and never experienced the speed not from behind a car window so this will be exciting
For people who don’t understand So basically officer west known as Jackson west so the officer that went like who did this to you well he is actually racist and he knew what happened but he acted like he didn’t know what happened so basically officer west he got beaten by a group of guys and the officer that said who did that to was just watching him get beaten up and that is why he got fired 😢
I’ll be the paragraph guy! So basically the older man is racist and tries to arrest people without them doing anything illegal. He then saw his rookie getting beat up by a bunch of people but stood to the side and didn’t save him as he thought his life would be better if his rookie was dead. When the hurt rookie (Jackson) hit the button on his personal camera that saves the last ten minutes of the video. Basically, Jackson put himself in the risk of death so he could get his training officer off the police force. Hope this helps. 😅 Also, the show is called the rookie. ❤ have a great day!
Doug (the mean guy who left officer west to die) is actually racist and tackled someone who wasn’t anything like the description and had already been asked. And yes,he was black.
