This officer is the kindest, most gentle and patient person I have seen in a long time. He knows the questions to ask, like "Am I bugging you"?, recognizing that she was probably very uncomfortable with him checking her.

I heard that the police in some states are looking for all the homeless to take them to shelters when in this state there is a sports match or a big conference that takes place in that state so that visitors come and do not see any homeless and then after the party or conference ends they release the homeless to the streets again Is this true?

It's just like every other job, there's going to be that one bad apple that causes problems. I've never had a problem or felt in danger in all the times I've dealt with cops. Then again I'm not an idiot and haven't tried to run or be sketchy around them.
@jasonpatterson8091
@jasonpatterson8091 3 года назад
Most of the ones involving homeless people or folks who are high are body cams from this particular officer, who is a fantastic example of what policing could look like. It's important to keep in mind that these videos are not a random sample of interactions with the public.
@jasonpatterson8091
@jasonpatterson8091 3 года назад
@@dickfitzwelliner2807 That would be nice. I've been held at gunpoint by a police officer whose hands were shaking because he was so keyed up with fear or excitement or who knows what. It was terrifying because he was so clearly not in control of himself. Someone robbed a McDonalds and I happened to take a walk on a cool summer night after my kids went to bed. Decent neighborhood, doing nothing suspicious, didn't respond negatively in any way. Doing nothing wrong or out of the ordinary, but this guy decided I was the robber. If he had shot me, he almost certainly would have gotten away with it because of the very low bar he'd have to meet - he just would have had to believe that I was a danger. Luckily he called for all the backup in the world and one of his superiors let me go shortly after arriving and having a dozen people pointing weapons at me and threatening my life. (Oh, and when you see a body cam with a cop shouting instructions and the person does something kind of like what the cop wants, but not exactly, and you say to yourself, "Why didn't he just put his hands on his head like the cop said instead of putting them up in the air?" It might be because there are 11 other cops there shouting contradictory orders simultaneously, all of them with lethal weapons pointed at him. It's kind of nerve wracking to say the least.) I have nothing against law enforcement in general, my own brother is a federal agent, but I can see how and why people are unhappy with the current state of affairs.

I feel for the lady. It's so hard to start over from nothing. You feel invisible and it can be very hard to get all the different kind of help that you need to get back on your feet. Sometimes you feel safer away from the shelters and homeless communities on your own. I pray she gets the help she needs. Thank you to the kind officer for his patience and knowledge for places that can help her. Without transportation she may not have the means to get there. Blessings to both and stay safe.

I appreciate these videos. I know the police, most, are here to help us and do not deserve the hate and contempt they get from people. It seems the hate comes from people who have done something whether it be a driving violation to worse. They seem to take out everything on police and even more now that it’s fashionable. I hope they can start to see it’s unwarranted.

This is always so sad 😥 .. I know of a case in the Cleveland area where this woman has mental illness, and is homeless. She'll be in and out of the hospital, and is how she survives. She'll get released, eventually go anywhere where someone will call the police. And all over again, get admitted. They all know her by now, and are trying to help her find somewhere to live. The social workers, that is.

Im glad this situation wasnt one of those crazy ones. It would be nice if the polyticking could stop and we actually bring new ideas to the table rather than the same old ones and throwing money at them as if that would fix it. Im not sure if this has been standard procedure for long or if this is a new approach, but this is an example of something i the right direction. We have a huge mental health issue in the country and i would advocate that part of that has to do with a lack in the medical system and tech along with said tech(medication) actually doing more damage in a lot of cases. I wish there was discussions and not arguments and partisan bs. Anyway good work.
