Boy, this brings back memories of my brother and I when were kids watching Officer Joe and the Three Stooges after school. We're going back over 50 years ago. I'm glad to see I still have a good memory.
Officer Joe was cool! He came to my elementary school in Central NJ around 1967 or so. It was cool to see him in color, since just about everyone still had B&W TVs at the time. He hosted a kids' show on PIX for a long time, he'd show "The Little Rascals" and other shorts (Three Stooges) and cartoons.
He came to my elementary school in Queens New York and told us how the Three Stooges got there beginnings in fgilm. I snuck off the classroom line and his in the auditorium until the teachers had left. Then I went up to him and he was Soooo nice, and gave me his autograph. Sorry, he really did like kids😇
Back in 1967 (or so) my mother and father took me and my brother (me 5, him 7) to WPIX for a surprise. We didn't know it until we got there - but we were going to be on the Officer Joe Bolton show! Me and my brother and another kid got to sit on the show - on the basement set. I still remember standing behind the set wall waiting to go in - being surprised that the set was all fake. We wondered how we were going to watch the 3 Stooges - there was no TV screen, but of course we didn't get to see the Stooges short film - we were only taped during the segments between the shorts. And on our way out we got to meet Captain Jack McCarthy too. Definitely one of the highlights of my childhood.
As a kid I sneaked into WPIX with my friend one day and Capt Jack caught us. We just wanted to look around and he asked us how we got in. He was really nice and showed us around and we saw his Capt jacket hanging in the closet. He gave us an autographed photo. A memorable day.
I have fond memories of watching Officer Joe Bolton's show as well as Captain Jack McCarthy after school back in the day. You were fortunate enough to actually meet them when you were a kid! They were both good role models for children.
late fifties and early sixties late afternoon and after american bandstand.M&Ms,milky way, devil dogs and maybe a three mousketeers chocolate bar and Our Gang,Abbott& Costello , three stooges, and officer Joe Bolton there too.
My mother took my brother and myself there to the daily news building, WPIX studios to be part of the “clubhouse gang“. I was the kid who got the junket rennet custard because it was my birthday, 😊 had to be mid 50s. Wish I could find the clip.
Thank you so much! My dad worked in the building where the WPIX-TV studios were, and I would always ask him if he saw Officer Joe! I had forgot about this; I was pretty young.
After about 60 years Officer Joe pops into my head! I wish there were some whole shows to watch... It's funny, I never really liked The 3 Stooges. Don't know why, except it always looked like they were hurting each other. I loved Officer Joe, though! I would play with toys when the Stooges were on but always came back for Joe! It's funny how you remember the little, simple things of the past and how much impact they had. Miss you Officer Joe Bolton.
I loved watching Officer Joe. It was a different time. That's when most police truly cared . No corruption , narcissism or evil. There is good and bad in everyone. Let's pray that morality and values return
Does anyone here remember Joe Bolton doing the weather on WPIX, while John Tillman did New York News and Kevin Kennedy, the National News? I guess this gives away my age, but I'm not telling, LOLOLOLOLOL.
What? Are the monologues of OFFICER JOE BOLTON off limits? He talked to us and told us not to hurt each other. He told us to put ice cubes in our dogs' water dish in the hot summer. It seems like the monologues of OFFICER JOE BOLTON are not part of his uploads. How disappointing!
I used to watch him as a kid on WPIX. Looking back I remember him having Moe Howard on his show at least a few times. I've wondered if those interviews / conversations were saved or lost forever. At the time I was 12 or 13 and was so irritated that they were just talking because I wanted to see the Stooges. Wish I had paid a little more attention at the time as I am sure there was a lot history being shared with us. I could at least see they were friends. Rest in Peace kind sirs.
Sadly.."Officer Joe's"visits with Moe Howard on"The Three Stooges Show" and with the three boys:Moe,Larry & "Curly Joe"De Rita on"The Three Stooges Funhouse" and"The Dick Tracy Show"don't exist..Denver-T.
