이번 정규 앨범은 도시 생활에 대한 저의 관찰을 담은 앨범입니다.
사람들로 북적이는 도시 안에서 바쁘게 살아가다 보면 어느새 다른 사람들에게 무시당하지 않고 상처받지 않기 위해 필요 이상의 에너지를 쓰기도 하고 다른 사람들과 충돌하면서 소신마저 잃게 될까 두려워하는 모습들을 보게 됩니다.
치열한 경쟁과 그로 인해 소중한 가치들이 희생되는 것이 눈에 띄는 요즘, 스스로의 마음을 지키는 일이 무엇보다 중요하게 다가옵니다.
행운이 없어도, 낡은 일기장과 같은 신세이더라도, 게임 속에서만 테니스 스타이더라도, 자랑할 만한 사진 한 장 없어도, 아직 자신의 집을 찾지 못했어도, 그 어느 때보다도 용감하게 자신을 지키고 꿋꿋하게 살아가는 모든 분들과 함께 이 앨범을 나누고 싶습니다.
On the one hand ‘the city’ is a place that promises a life full of excitement, achievements, love, and sense of belonging, but on the other, it is also where we find notions of growth, diversity, individuality, and harmony being challenged in ways that cause division and various forms of insecurities in individuals. This album is a record of the observations I made traveling and living around different cities, and it attempts to question the real meaning of values that are being ‘produced’ and distributed by the city through its markets, the lifestyle it recommends, and the image of success and happiness it reinforces through media. Although I hope my songs will reach different kinds of people in Korea and around the globe, I’m especially excited to share these songs with people who are wondering if it’s okay to stand outside the crowd for the values they believe in, to pursue goals and dreams that the culture of the times doesn’t promise will come true. Thank you for listening to this album, and I hope you find that you’re braver than ever in your own journey to find balance and clarity.
