Agreed! Here's to hoping and crowd-funding a reality Anti-Gravity racing league with real tracks and worldwide participation from engineers, racers, track designers, and most importantly those who were there in Wipeout's birth: Studio Liverpool, Designers Republic, all associated musicians and visual artists, and of course the top extreme sports organization who was there with Wipeout towards the beginning, Red Bull.
Agreed! Always remember that Red Bull did "sponsor" this anti-gravity racing league early on in franchise infancy, so to think about it being reality isn't the most unimaginable thing...
i think how they use effects and colors and music is the base for their awsome intros, they make intros that give you goosebumps and are emersive. wipeout 3 is a good example, they do very artistic intros and add music to it with effects that make them a lot better. wipeout intros give you that feelings.
Coming off the aesthetics of Fusion, Pure feels like how it is in the WipEout timeline. A return to form, the colour is back, and AG racing is 'pure' once more, moving forward with no corrupt corporations overseeing the sport.
Yup, real electronic music writers & producers. There with those who were all there at they edm explosion days of illegal raves and warehouse all-nighters!
I realise 2 things from watching this: - Pure is the last game in the series to move forward with WipEout's timeline, unless HD Fury added new bits of lore (I didn't see any new stuff, but I could very likely be wrong) - The closure of Studio Liverpool isn't just a sad end for the WipEout series; These guys used to be Psygnosis. They were a huge part of my childhood, and it truly is the end of an era. All the best of luck to R8 games with the work they're doing for Formula Fusion.
The power of creation from this group of talented people cannot be understated. They were way ahead of their time with their art design and musical selection. Losing Studio Liverpool was heartbreaking.
Just another note about them; After managing to get Wipeout Pulse on PS2 somewhat recently, I have to say it's jaw-dropping how they fit all of it onto a single disc, DLC included. It's not perfect with the framerate, and you can also tell that it's pushing the console to it's absolute limits of functioning smoothly. But the skills these devs have with optimisation is really something with how they still got everything running. I think Sony letting them go is about as clear a definition as you can get of losing touch with your roots. They'll probably say it was all because of Namco that they got off the ground, and that may be true for the japanese market, but in the west, Psygnosis are the ones who got them going. And you can even argue they had the bigger impact.
Best intro of them all. I like to minimalistic-meets-future style of it. I just hope 2048 has an awesome intro like this, unlike HD(+fury) which had no intro at all.
2048 has an awesome intro :) It's like... you see the old cars from like 1930 or something evolve to the ships you got in 2048. It's epic to see with a rlly nice song in the background, which rlly fits the evolution :D
If someone dares to create an AG craft I think the cockpit layout you see in this video should be good for this. From what I saw in this video you have a helicopter like cyclic to turn and pitch the craft. A throttle to control speed, and 2 pedals for the airbrakes.
1:01 - 1:07 Wishing for a real cockpit view for each ships in wipeout games. This let's you see the real perspective of the pilot where the surrounding view is limited and according to the ship you're flying. It will add a new challenge and perspective. Also real cockpit view of non-vr ships in vr.
I'm so glad Red Bull infused themselves into the Wipeout game franchise early on...wink-wink & high hopes for the future reality of anti-gravity racing leagues worldwide! ❤
Imagine a Time-lapse of a Chao's life from birth to adulthood to this music. After it emerges from the Cocoon, it flies out of the gate. Put this together with some sprite animation, you have the intro for Chao World Purity Edition.
1:06 gives you an idea of how these ships are controlled. There's the main steering joystick for the left hand (with two buttons; maybe one for firing a weapon and another for absorbing it) and a thrust lever for the right hand. The airbrakes may be operated with left-right foot pedals. Brilliant!
Hey Studio Liverpool guys! Will there be concept art in the gold medals we win like with Pure? That was awesome, I checked my medal every time I won just to see the artwork.
Same. I remember being in Fort Collins; seeing a poster on a lampost about a thng in Denver with Sasha (I think it was at The Church); years and years and years ago for a game.(W'O"3?!) Still pissed I couldn't make it...
I sexually Identify as an Feisar-aircraft. Since I was a boy I dreamed of soaring over the Racing-tracks of Markana dropping bombs on disgusting AG-Systems-pilots. People say to me that a person being a aircraft is Impossible and I’m fucking retarded but I don’t care, I’m beautiful. I’m having a plastic surgeon install Anti-Gravity generators, Turbo and a Quake generator on my body. From now on I want you guys to call me “Feisar” and respect my right to kill with Plasma and kill needlessly. If you can’t accept me you’re a Feisarphobe and need to check your aircraft privilege. Thank you for being so understanding.
I don't know if you still use this account Stuart, but I've always wondered-is this intro inspired by Autechre's Gantz Graf video, or what? They've always resembled each other and that's the first comparison I've made for both for years now!
Its AG System's enterance to the league because it got bought by another company (forgot what it was called) but it got bankrupt and it was sold back to Japan
Yeah, true. HD is basically the same as both Pure and Pulse, with just 1 or 2 extra tracks, maybe. But graphics are complete insanity, gameplay is like Pulse and it's a lot smoother. But yeah, in 2048 you go through the corners like crazy, as if they were nothing XD
well, that's how they had it on the older games. It was a little bit drifting style. You can check in every game untill Pure. Oldest WipEout game is from 1995 i think :P But still, Controls in Pure are much better, indeed. Together with HD and 2048.
I really wish they kept this 2000's utopian cyberpunk aesthetic in Wipeout Pulse. Pulse is just so boring and lifeless even in it's music selection compared to this masterpiece.
pulse was the better game but pure definitely had the more awesome intro movie, especially the miminalist stuff before the beat drops... i remember the intro to wipeout 3, that was my favourite becuase it was so understated (slo mo and reverse) compared to the insanity of the gameplay, was an awesome contrast.
