Go ask the contractor crews “from 1-10, how well have these right off ways been maintained? “. Periodic maintenance and tree trimming can greatly reduce this damage impact. Ask them, see what they say.

Centerpoints response is hilarious. FPL in Florida restored 92% of their 2.1 million customers without power within 5 days after Ian made landfall. For reference Ian was about 3-4x larger than Beryl and made landfall as much more destructive Category 4 hurricane. My house in Deep Creek was practically gone but we had power back in 4 days, about 5 miles south of where the eyewall made landfall.

How is it possible? There’s a lot of cleaning up to do before they can even start setting up to turn it back on.
@tblackmusic7460
@tblackmusic7460 3 месяца назад
It’s possible because the staging they claim to be doing with the center point workers from out of state, they admitted they didn’t do. Also, the workers they brought out for both, restoring power lines and clearing vegetation, were sitting around for most of the day waiting for their assignments (something workers themselves have complained about). And also because, the VP at center point said they didn’t expect the damage to be what it was, although the news said it would be what it was over and over.
@DIYJim-wx6hq
@DIYJim-wx6hq 3 месяца назад
It is possible because right of ways we’re not periodically maintained as well as they could have been. An adjacent right of way to my property has been overgrown for years. Now they clean it up, but just enough to be able to re energize the distribution circuits. It is lower cost to perform maintenance on a planned basis than in emergency situation. Much easier to trim trees in winter than summer, in Texas.
@GameChanger32778
@GameChanger32778 3 месяца назад
@@DIYJim-wx6hq , the people to contact if the trees aren’t being cut back is the Public Utility Commission of Texas, if the electric company isn’t doing their job right, it should be reported. People can report such a problem. I live around south east Texas and I sent in pictures and reported the brush on the lines over here. On a side note, I’ve seen plenty of pictures and video that show poles broke in half that aren’t anywhere near trees. Downed lines on the street and on peoples homes. Like I stated in my original post, there is a lot of “cleaning up” to do before getting the power back on.
@RobertTapia

It's possible because they charge you 300$ in bill, and they only spend 16$ per bill on maintenance and repair. They pocket the rest of money. CEO of center point makes a lot of money!!! They pay lots of money to already rich investors. Then they blame the federal government when we know the Texas grid is independent of rest of nation. When it's too cold we freeze to ☠️ and when it's too hot we boil to ☠️.

Call Gov Abbott’s ofc. Be respectful but tell them your suffering and also what you need. And just saying “need power” is not helpful. Need ice, need water, need cooked food, need pantry food, need medication replaced and you have no money, need hotels paid for, need a full time evacuation center with AC and meals. Need help from national guard to help with debris removal to lighten load on power company and to help with elderly to take load off fire dept. Realistic things a Governor can authorize and get done.
