As a official who has two games this week and starting back up after 2 year break, I appreciate this refresher and breakdown. Got me ready for the season. Coming from Virginia for the VHSL 🏀

This video is incredible. I love how you move the officials with your clicker. I reffed my first tournament last weekend and there were a few times we both blew the whistle and my partner would say his action was first. I now understand it’s bc it was his PCA. I am still learning the rules and haven’t fully read the book. So at the time I was like why is he disagreeing with me, but really I was probably overstepping bc it was his area. I told him I was new though before we began. We did 5 games together back to back.

We generally don't switch in 2-person if the calling official is already tableside.

You are correct, but this should not be the case as the officials manual tells us otherwise.

Hi Sir it’s my first time to watched your YT videos .Im having a great time watching your online web discussion. I just want to verify is NHFS rulings are the same from FIBA rulings? Thanks
@OfficialsInstitute
@OfficialsInstitute 10 месяцев назад
Thanks and welcome. NFHS AND FIBA have differences so if you work FIBA, you need to seek those out using your mechanics book or instruction you have.

I do not k ow if you have this featured: Can you catch your own airball?
@OfficialsInstitute
@OfficialsInstitute Год назад
I don’t think we have any videos posted on that. You may, indeed, catch your own airball. One a try for goal is attempted, all team and player control is gone, therefore anyone can gain control without penalty.
@rgillegojr
@rgillegojr Год назад
@@OfficialsInstitute I mean if you shoot the ball and it's airball, can you rebound the ball? No one touches it, only you. If this is not a violation, double dribble or travelling- please make a video explaning why it's not a violation.
@rgillegojr

@@OfficialsInstitutethis is an argument with my team. If you have a valid explanation and by the book. I can use your video to explain.

4.44 SITUATION B: A1 attempts a try after ending the dribble. The try does not touch the backboard, the ring or any other player. A1 runs and is able to catch the ball before it strikes the floor. Is this traveling? RULING: No. When A1 recovered A1's own try, A1 could either dribble, pass or try again. There was no team control after the ball was released on a try. (4-12, 4-41)

The HS manual is now the size of the college manual.

And much more visually appealing on the inside.

At 52:00, the written rule shown just says "any other stoppage of play", WITHOUT "other than out of bounds", which is I think what the commenter said. But the violations listed in the rule--9-4 through 9-13,--do not include out of bounds, which is covered in rule 7 1-3. For the sake of clarity, they really should've included the exception phrase here too.

Maybe. Thanks for sharing

At 29:05 this a clip from a hs game in CT. We are an IAABO state. IAABO trained hs officials switch on every foul. On shooting fouls we are located opposite table

We are aware of Connecticut’s Iaabo mechanics, but since we teach NFHS mechanics we didn’t want to confuse anyone by giving this clarification. Thanks for your comments.

Last night, as my partner made a call, I sprinted over to switch, he gave me a perplexed look and shooed me back over…I just laughed to myself as I thought about this video🤣😅…But I agree most others will switch…
