Good thing you went wide on the the start, it was a gong show . Wow, if someone is on my tail I let them pass, even if they are slight flaster it allows us all to move quicker. Some guys just dont get that.. ie. the guy you follow for 15mins. At 7:18 the guy passes you - that should have been YOU passing the guy in front of you. Need to look for the opportunities at these corners. - yeah, I know it was steep there and there was a small log there. I was lucky when I when through there and passed two guys. You can see it on the video done by @rustynutracing. I'll have some clips in my video when I get around to it :)
Like you I struggled to pass at the RJ XC so I'm hoping to see some suggestions in the comments. I saw the same opening as you did at 05:15 and tried a pass with the same same results, got passed by another rider :( A number of times I was tailgating another rider to pass when I got an opportunity but that back fired when the rider went down right in front of me and I got passed by a string of riders before I could get around.
Hope you had fun though! I still thoroughly enjoyed the race but it was a reminder I suck haha. Hopefully some people got some tip top top tips for us. Otherwise, I'll revert back to 'try to crash less and you'll do better'
@@woodlandwugui We are on the same page. It was a great race and I suck but I am hopeful that I will improve. Energy and alertness was way down on the last lap and I badly needed electrolytes but all I had was water. Stupid little laydowns and bobbles cost me at least 10 positions overall and probably a few positions in my class. Looking forward to Cochrane's XC.
