The yellow line is imaginary, it does not exist like the other white lines of the field and it is not at a standard place. Depending on what is going on during the "attack phase" (idk if there is a term for that) the yellow line is vertical to the length of the field at the spot of the defender closest to the defending goal-spot, assuming the goalkeeper is at the goal-spot. If the latter is further away, you count the second last defender.
hi what if the A and C also was beyond the yellow line and attacker passes to B again which is not in offside and then B passes to A or C and either of them score, is that offside or not?
When player is beyond last defensive player than the ball is the offside line. So if the player passes it to someone who is closer to goal in comparison to ball then it's offside. I am sorry I didn't get your exact question. Watch from 1:30 and see if your question is answered or not. Let me know.
Purpose is to make game more entertaining! If there is no offside then strikers will always be standing near opponent goal and all the player will be distributed on the filed. Due to offside all players are stacked in smaller area therefore make it more challenging to score a goal.
@@TheSchoolOfSports ah! That makes sense! I found this looking for an explanation of the rule after USA's second goal against Iran was ruled offside. I don't follow much soccer obviously :)
Thank for your video. There is exception in offside - in situation of throw-in play there's no offside at all. the offensive player can receive the ball although he is beyond the line passing by the last desfensive player - no offside also if offensive and defensive players except the goalkeeper are both in one half of the field. So supposing if a offensive player beyond the last defensive player receives a pass and he is before the midfield line. He is not considered offside.
@ 1:55 20-21 Laws of the game: "A player is in an offside position if: any part of the head, body or feet is nearer to the opponents’ goal line than both the BALL and the second-last opponent." An attacking player is of absolutely no consideration when determining where the yellow offside line in the video is.
