@Farnaz1Mansouri1 Ofra´s parents came to Israel in 1944. When operation "Magic carpet" happened, they were already settled in Israel. In November 1995 she was invited to Yemen by Yemeni goverment and was supposed to sing there. But because of assasination of Yichak Rabin , this journey to Yemen was cancelled.
This is the power of music. Do you all see how Ofra Haza's voice has a way of bringing together people of all different nationalities, religions, & ethnicities? This is what she wanted because she was a woman full of love & peace. I've been a fan of hers since (around) October or November 1988. I was 7 years old in the 2nd grade at that time!
I had the privilege of hearing Ms. Haza perform live in San Francisco in 1993. I only wish the concert would've lasted a bit longer, but it was definitely one of the highlights of my life! She had one of the most beautiful voices of any singer on Earth--I only wish mainstream America would have had more opportunities to hear her sing (aside from her influence on hip-hop music). I did not learn she had passed away until 2 years ago, I will miss her!
Ofra's parents were Yemeni Jews, deported by the Yemeni Muslims, whose civilization the Jews predate in Yemen by three thousand years. The Israelis (PBUH) rescued the Yemeni Jews from the desert in the historic OPeration Magic Carpet. Ofra's parents were aboard. Notwithstanding ethnic cleansing Yemen, Ofra loved it and the entire Middle East. An international star, her albums were bought throughout the region. By invitation, she sang in Yemen. In Arabic. Peace was her mission.
she is so lovely. just did what she could do best all her life. has nothing to do with me, my country or my people, but i love her. def israel's pride.
i am too proud that all Ofra singer and Zion golan AND Brach are all YEMENIS and YEMEN IS crown worn by all yemenis with great voices uniqe styles they are yemenis i realy proud of them
Literally it means "Sabbath - The Queen", Though it's kind of a way to differ the holiness of the Sabbath from other days of the week in the Jewish tradition, And to grace and idolize this holy day of the week.
So charming, so beautiful, so immensely talented. It came so natural to her and she continued to evolve thru the years.....and we lost her eight years ago.
I am really proud of her because she came from Yemen >>> Yemen graduates singers like this hot style and also listen to the jewish singer Zion and Barach all are Yemenis
Great to see Ofra wearing the Star of David, and even a very large one. She was not hiding her Jewishness even years a go. Way to go Ofra!! Thanks for the post!! What are the words in English? I just listen to Ofra sing over and over in Hebrew and I am still so lifted in my spirit!! Thanks for the post!!
See this video, and she's passionate and she still has enough passion for her OWN voice. She was always her OWN voice. L'Chaim Ofra, you were and are a needed force.
she radiates so much love and joy with her presence and powerful voice. love how she is smiling while she sings. a truly beautiful soul we will always cherish, God Bless You Ofra :)
Judaism is not about looks, it is not a discriminating or rasistic religion. We lived for thousands of years in Europe and people who were sincere in their believes joined our people. This why we can look blond, red, brown, black or even yellow.
I definitely am interested in listening to these Yemeni performers also--I'll be on the lookout for their material. Thanks also for supplying this early Haza clip! I know she was a performer of enormous stature in Israel and Europe, but it has only been though RU-vid that I've been able to see her performances prior to the late 80s, when she first came to the attention of many Americans.
Thank you for posting, Aviva2121. We will miss Ofra's mighty voice and presence. It is with people like her, and I am sure you, also, that the world is a better place to love. Music lives within us, even as we sleep. Ofra certainly exuded love, and it can be felt in her songs, of all origins. Ofra had a tough fight to the finish, but she did it. Crying now, of course. Blessings, Aviva2121 from Samarqand.
Alleluia, Ofra (pbuh). Thank you 4 commenting, Aviva2121. Ofra and her music lives within our souls. International star deserving of praise. We will miss her (sigh). But her music lives and surrounds our presence. Blessings B unto you all, from Samarqand.
Such abeautiful songs and from a most beautiful singer ever. And sadly people are talking about religion and hate for each other. Please tell me so whose wining so far??? Or just losers.??
Amazing Ofra! I know you thanks to the eurovision song contest. You and your music will live as long as we listen to you. Thank you so much all beauties you added to our lifes. Lovely from Turkey.
There are some sad comments here. Remember Ofra was a Jew from a Yemenite background: her family lived in Yemen before moving to Israel to escape hatred against Jews. But she sang in different languages to try to bridge the gap between Israeli and Arabic culture, as she was very pro-peace. Please respect her for that.
the saddest things with all the hate-talk on this thread, that she was a supporter of the idea of peace and co-existence, hating her for being a Jew from Israel without knowing shit about her way of life and her beliefs is just unbelievable ignorance
She so much looks like a better version of Cleopatra here... :) RIP Ofra! So bad that I feel urged to indicate my nationalty here, as this (art!) has nothing to do about it... Anyway, I'm Turkish and a proud Muslim. Still, I DON'T have any (!) problems with listening Jewish - or to be more presise Israeli - music! Indeed, I love Ofra and Boaz! :)
Hi, this songs are from the time where Ofra sung in the "Shechunat Ha'Tikva Theater-Workshop" You can find the most of this songs on four Lp's and on a double CD. The CD Shechunat Hatikva Workshop Theatre was issued by NMC in 1998 and contains two Albums from the group, First Love released in 1974 and Atik Noshan released in 1977.
