In this video, Jon Faulkner shares some of those items preppers often forget to pack along, when they're bugging out.
The fact is, in a survival situation, these often forgotten items are ones that can make a huge difference in your comfort level and overall success.
Watch this video and you may pick up a few tips about important items that you should consider including in your preps.

Multivitamin. In a SHTF scenario you probably will not be eating that nutritious, if at all, and the vitamins will be helpful. Especially the B-12 for energy.

Second glasses, but what about my three knives? ^^ It's also funny who many people think that it's more important to carry a gun and a second mag but don't have any means to take care of themselves in case they get wounded. Which may be more likely and dangerous.

Good Reminders! As someone who has been wearing Glasses for almost 50 years, I agree with you on carrying Spares. But get one of the Strings to keep them on your Body! Lost my only Pair on the Space Mountain Ride at Disney World in 1980. The rest of the day was walking around peering through Fog. And Walmart has Prescription Safety Glasses available. Get a pair of those. Thanks again and Take Care.

Anbesol or Oragel, a toothache or pain from a broken or damaged tooth can severely impact your concentration and commitment to the task at hand. I never see anyone include it in their kits.

Don't forget insulin and epipens too if you need them. Also OraGel just in case of tooth pain. Also USB batteries with a battery adapter along with your charger, and maybe a portable wifi device.

A long standby non smart backup phone, with its charging cable, loaded with a prepaid SIM card that is not using the same operator as the main smart phone. A printed laminated, water protected, list of important phone numbers. A "neck string" for your glasses so you won't lose them so easily. The main smart phone should only, IMO, be used as a backup navigational tool to a printed map, compass and perhaps a stand alone GPS unit.

Thanks Jon. A very GOOD subject for us all to think about and react to. We buy our eyeglasses two pairs at a time (we try to get the 2 pairs for one low price thing)... the second pair specifically for the get-home bags. We actually bought bright orange cases for them, and keep them in an outside pocket of our kits. But yes... last year's prescriptions are also a great idea. Eye drops are a no thinker... in all of our first aid kits... everyone should have eye drops, not just contact or glass wearers. Everyone's eyes can take a beating, no matter what time of year. For prescription drugs... I don't take any myself, but the wife has HBP, she's also a type 2 diabetic, and has to take synthetic thyroid meds to keep her "action" going. She always makes it a point to get her 90 day refills at 80 days... just to save some back. She rotates through them... very smart of her. Get home bag and bug out bags are decently stocked up now. We also keep several fish antibiotics rotated through our preps. No asthma issues here... but thanks for reminding everyone of this! Maybe for people with bad allergies... how about one of those Epi Pen things? I might be mistaken... but I'm pretty sure we either own stock in Anker... or should be given prestige purchaser awards. Charging is good. Ooh... I can add something else. Ticks are becoming more and more widespread across the USA these days. I think everyone should do themselves a favor and get one of those tools specifically designed for removing ticks. There is nothing worse than trying to take a tick off with a pair of pliers or even a tweezers, only to break it's head off under your skin. These new tools make it so that you "push" the head out first. I know that UST (Ultimate Survival Technologies) makes a good one; I removed over 10 ticks this year alone with it. These are low cost and in each of our kits. This is a very good reminder video for everyone. Awesome! Thanks again for sharing it, Jon!!!

Great video to kick start a different and crucial line of thinking! Like you mentioned, without these items, what’s the point. The gear that should be the most important is the gear that sustains your personal health and well being and then everything else.

Eye glasses should be stored in a hard shell case at night in case of earthquake and also in the bugout bag

Good to know that I wasn't losing it when I began to put my glasses in a hard case in my nightstand every night. I live in earthquake country.🌹

some people may need an inhaler, even if they aren't asthmatic. If you choke on dust or other stuff or need to increase your blood pressure or heart rate. you can get an OTC inhaler at you pharmacy, without a prescription.

If you wear glasses consider a pair of safety glasses that fit over your glasses. If you don't wear glasses a pair of safety glasses would be a good item to have anyway.

For glasses I would recommend zennioptical. I got 4 pair of glasses from them for the cost that you would typically pay at an optical store like Lenscrafters.

I love Zenni Optical. I pay $60-70 a pair with all the options. You can also order spare frames for very low cost when you buy the glasses For the metal aviator glasses I buy, spare frames are $4. I can lay on them and sit on them all I want. :)

I have a hard time with glasses and have broken more of them than a pair of 44Ds.🤗

I'm only really getting into survival now, my eyesight is so shit I'd literally die in about a week without glasses. Decided to get laser surgery because frankly there's no point preparing anything else if a broken lens would be game over.

Some great points. One question for the group. How many days medication would you recommend.

Oh great now we need to carry meds! Just joking I carry most of this first round EDC Advil’s, codeine, glasses, Rx sun glasses, inhaler, battery bank for cell phone, cords, head phone for your cell phone, second round EDC flash light knife sharpening stone, can opener lighter, pen and paper, water 2 liters minimum. Third round food, Gray man kit, AR15, 1911, both, keep the AR in a baseball bat bag!

You can also charge your phone using an AA battery or 9V battery and a coin so keep some change on you. Like a roll of 10 dollars in quarters which can be useful to charge your phone and can also be used as a weapon check Clint Emerson 100 deadly skills videos to find out how you can turn a roll of $10 in quarters into a weapon. You can also create a battery using few coins and thick paper soaked in water, in case you have no batteries to charge your phone and nothing else but coins, paper and à the phone charger. Check out videos on stuff like that on RU-vid. Stay safe!

Text messages email Facebook and Twitter can be sent easier than a phone call in a sht. And that is with out pic. I have a app the Compass that tells me the latitude and longitude of my phone and it uses my phone GPS and not the data. With a stand alone map if the cellphone towers are out or at low bandwidth I know where I’m at if I was in emergency I could give emergency services my latitude and longitude. But check it with you Data off to see if it works on your phone and set it the apps to use your phones GPS when the app is open.
