Will is such a genuine kid. He deserves all the success and happiness working with you. He's young and if he sticks with it, he's going to make it far in the car world/life in general. He is lucky to have you and Tommy.
@@Tool0GT92 which is exactly what you learn when you do it yourself and it sucks, watching others make the mistakes and learning the lessons with them is a lot cheaper and less stressful because you stand to lose nothing but a little time. I mean it could be worse, you could be watching ruddys old boss and his buddies sit on the couch talk nonsense, fart, and put wood in a fire
Everyone here is proud of you Will man, feels weird to say but some of us grew up with you so knowing everything that's happened to now.. I'm probably just as happy for you as you are for yourself haha.
Will from spray painting maple leaves onto a spoiler to building his 135. you guys are doing great!! how far you both have come is honestly inspiring and amazing.
Lets all give will some props that was not a easy job most thought that the 135 woukd never go again without a bmw specialist doing it. Will is now a certified BMW technician.
"would never get done without a bmw specialist doing it" ok champ. aka how to spot someone that is shit at building cars and engineering lol bmw dont NEED a tech haha they arnt even the hardest brand to work on/fiddle with
When you guys are changing the battery, remember to get the battery coded to the car.. because all e6x e9x e8x have a IBS (intelligent batteri sensor) That monitor the battery and sends information to the ECU and the alternator, and since the battery that is already in the car is shot, the New battery is gonna be damaged becuase the alternator Will overcharge since it thinks it had a bad battery... everything you change on a e8x e6x and up has to be coded to the car.. everything that has a sensor has to be coded.... hope you Will read this
If you get the same battery like it doesn't even have to be the same brand but the same specifications as the battery that was previously in the vehicle you do not have to code it
Low battery on a modern BMW will make it do all sorts of funky things - my 135 used to throw all sorts of funky errors and idle wierd - had me worried the first time I did a water pump and the bleed procedure drained the battery too much, even on a charger. Definitely has to be Will's next port of call.
Shit even 97s. In 05 we were pushing an e36 328 to its limits for drag racing. ( made 635 whp on stock internals ) was trying everything for weight reduction . Got some slim lightweight "racing" battery and that bitch would barely last 48 hours with bmws parasitic battery drain. Regular batteries sometimes would be dead after a little over a month.
@@Mr-cl2bh Lol - just drive around with a jump pack in the boot. Go really over the top with it and throw a couple of ratchet straps on it to make sure it doesn't smash into the inside of the quarters when you're doing donuts in Tommy's carpark 🤣🤣🤣
I would check the belt and the accessories the next few days to be positive they stay dry from oil leaks. Oil leaking onto the belt and causing it to slip and get sucked into the front main is a common issue on N54s.
Will is a chump. Can’t ever forget him crashing rudniks car because the child fell asleep behind the wheel. Didn’t take one bit if responsibility either
9:25 way to go Will! Engine sounds good man. Oil must be from the oil filter housing. Unless its leftover engine oil from the exxon valdez spill oil cooler thing. Forever commenting before completing the video
Take it to Jimmy to tune bro. Edit: congrats Will! The fruits of your labour always outweigh the feeling of stress and dread when going through the process. Seeing your smile when behind the wheel made all the trials, mistakes and nights of wondering if it'll ever get finished worth it.
Jimmy is good at tuning but with the n54 he’s probably gonna want an MHD flash tune which is entirely different tuning process than what jimmy does for his ecus
I'm more on Tom's side with the timing chain situation only because whenever I pull an engine out I always change them, also always change the rear main seal, front main and put a high volume oil pump in it
honestly, its never a bad thing to do but realistically it was not necessary. like dont get me wrong, i believe in preventative maintenance but at the same time, if it aint broke, dont fix it you know! but all that being said, it was a good learning experience for will
I’m one of the guys who said it would never run again. Proved me wrong 🙂. Good job Will! Also if the air filters are oily they will smoke a little when new.
As much as I loved the Florida videos, these new videos are great. Will learning new things, Tommy mentoring, Chris stepping up and doing things a less haggard way....
yeah thank god tommy told them to refresh the gaskets and shit. thats how majority of bmws brake. people skip fixes and don't do the proper maintenance and then wonder why shit hit the fan. ones in this n54 group im in a dude asked what oil to use and i kid you not som retard said it don't mather as long as it's the right viscosity. it mathers allot and the diffarance betwen a blown engine and a good one can litteraly be oil brand.
Get a good N54 remote tuner and Ask oaks if you can borrow his dyno. Also, if you mounted a single mass flywheel that will bring chatter (The sound under the car) Stoked to see it running :D
Try clean that belt up as much as possible, once they let go in the N54s they get ingested in to the engine. Good stuff Will! The build looks awesome!! The oil filter housing has a half and half with the oil cooler. The gaskets need to be lined up properly otherwise you get an oil leak or a coolant leak. You have to remove the intake manifold to get to the gasket
@@undercoverwhale6891 I’m confused on we’re that came from? I was complementing him of how good he’s doing and u have to say something like get a life bro worry abt urself
So amped for Will! Dude definitely deserves it after all the hard work! And don't stress being overwhelmed man, happens to all of us who build/work on our cars while "living on a budget" Awesome work my man! Oh and Ruddy.. Get your boy a battery!!😂
I can't wait to see this thing tuned and finally back out driving! It was definitely worth the 117 day's that it took to get it all back together, never seen will more hyped on anything other that skidding the 370
My favourite car chris ever owned. So damn wholesome seeing will go through all that to make the car better then it ever was. Love this video so much ❤
Let’s fucking go!!! Stoked for will! Still remember little willy in the OG haggard days. Awesome to see how far both of you guys have come. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for the 135!
Lol Tom literally always has to be right xD such a shit talked, it’s hilarious content at this new shop with everyone around. Stoked to see Will so happy with his car running again
Hey guys I have a 135i, make sure that the serpentine belt and pulleys have NO OIL on them what so ever. These engines are known to throw belts when they get oil on them and then they get sucked behind the balancer and break the timing chain. Then you throw the engine away.
I was 99% sure on getting a x35i as my next car but after watching this there's no way i'm ever getting one, this whole thing seems to be a hell to work on jesus
bmws in general bruh them talking to rktunes about every single little thing (do i replace this, do i reuse that) and the whole platform looks like a giant headache, even coming from someone like rktunes who literally knew every part of the engine that they needed to change
Its only bad if you can't pay attention, freak out easily and half ass shit like will. No disrespect to will but maybe he's a little young to give these engines the patience and attention they need. I might be biased cause bmw i6's are all I know lol
Will I still remember when you got your first Miata man. A LOT of us were around when the OG Haggard days were just starting and lets be honest these comments probably don’t mean shit to you guys to a degree but I know a lot of us can agree we are happy you are still around and became the man you are! Even from day 1 everyone could tell you’re the #1 most authentically nice, genuine, helping hand of a friend any of those guys have ever had and I’m happy you and ruddy are still together doing fun shit. Keep your head up don’t take any of the banter too serious because you’re killing it!
Hey just letting you know when a BMW's turn signal (not just bmw, other manufactures too..) flickers that fast it means there's a turn signal out or possibly another light, head light, tail light, brake light, etc... You get the point, so just have someone stand in back and then front of the car to see what light(s) went out. Someone probably already said this but just wanted to make sure it was said at least said once.
Btw Congrats Will on getting the 135 up and running. Don't slack on buttoning up the last finishing touches. Make it so you are proud to show it off and not have to keep telling someone that points something out "yeah I just gotta do that and a few other things" in a few months once the weather gets a lot nicer.
Plz look over the valve cover cuz Idk if that's a missing bolt in the front passenger side or not lol just tryna look out...but overall AWESOME job! :D
I think I saw at least one other bolt missing on the other side in the front of the valve cover. I remember something about broken valve cover bolts, when they took it apart.
@@ericnelson6982 ooohh fr...a friend of mine broke 3 of his on his N54 a while back LOL & then I extracted them out for him using that extraction drill set or whatever it's called...shouldn't be too bad, just needs to get done so no oil leaks happen over time in the future
Genuinely happy to see Will so stoked on his successful journey through hell and back. Really glad to see his work put in has finally paid off, no matter how long it took. Good stuff Lil Will. You knocked out a honestly hard job and hope you realize you’re capable of anything you put your mind and effort into.
Thank you to Chris for giving Will the space & opportunity to get the bmw this far and giving us all the pleasure of watching the process. A real bloke right there
That was a big job to take on but I'm stoked to see you push through all of the trials and get it done! That first drive must have felt so good. You should ask Adam if you can bring it to FL and have it tuned on his dyno.
Proud of you lil Will! I knew you'd get it. I wasn't sure for a minute but everyone guiding you in the right direction was what you needed. Can't wait to see you rippin the shit out of that thing.
You need to hit up Doc Vu, he’s best tuner right now in the US for the n54 platform. He’s been accomplishing some big boy numbers out of twins on an N54. Highly recommend him.
Billy Mason of BMB Autowerks in NJ could point you in the right direction for someone to tune your car. He's built several N54s. Also, new battery is a must. BMWs (especially the newer ones) are very susceptible to low voltage.
God Damn i love this channel!! It allways gives me a huge smile when you guys discuss things ;D Btw remember to replace the batteri on the 135i, it safes Will from alot of headaches, because it will keep on giving faulty codes when some of the cells is bad.
its 1:45AM here.. i was like.. im gonna go to bed.. Chris uploaded a new video.. its the 135 finally done. aight.. im not gonna go to bed, im gonna watch this 40minute video. Hell yeah
I had a 1992 Acura Integra GS 5 speed back in the day and at one point I hadn't driven it for a few months while I was installing and modifying the turbo kit that I built for it and when I first drove it the battery was so shot that the car died and wouldn't even start with a clutch pop. I bought a new battery and it was back to normal. Once I got it tuned that car made 257 whp on all junkyard parts (except for one of the original SSAutochrome turbo manifolds and the matching universal downpipe, which is WAY before eBay Chinese made parts were widely available). I bought a seized Dodge Daytona T3 turbo with a 12 psi internal wastegate that I rebuilt for $50, a set of DSM 440cc injectors $75, a Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump $90, a DSM side mount intercooler $30, a Tial blow off valve that I found in a junkyard on a DSM $50, a full custom built 2.5" exhaust $150, and a Zdyne Gold SECU $1500...and this was back in 2003 when I was 19 and worked minimum wage jobs. I LOVED that car and it was really quick for only making 257 whp.
Hydraulic lifters will typically tick a lot and if you drive it at like 3k rpm for 5 mins the tick will go away. It usually happens on short drives. They need to be bled by driving a little harder
Seeing Will drive the 135 for the first time reminded me of when i first drove my e36 after doing a full zf swap and swapping a new head onto it last summer…shit was surreal to finally drive it haha
I never comment on videos I swear to god but I’m so happy for you will man I have a bmw 430i and I loved your trial and error and not giving up. Cheers my man beers to this journey being completed
I'd really love to see a Miata with a N55 swap someday. I think that would be so much fun. However, I'd still really like to see a 13b swapped Miata with the looks of the Hot Boi Miata.
Do the belt again when it gets covered makes it much more likely to have issues and suck in the belt. And make sure to code the battery to the car pro tool is great and easy to use for bmws
Check out ACI Dynamics in CT. They should be able to tune that, if not im sure they would be more than happy to guide will in the right path to find the right tuner
