@@americxno The final of Produce48 happened on Wonyoung's 14th birthday, and she debuted with Iz*one like three months later. I think that among currently active idol groups (that aren't children groups that is), she was the youngest at debut. Youngest active idol at debut who's still active remains Boa though, since she was 13. Other idols I can think of, who were 14 and not as close to turning 15 as Ni-ki when they debuted are Taemin, HyunA, and Dohyon (X1/H&D/BAE173).
Given or taken is a song about them questioning if they deserve what they have right now, as lots of people have called them entitled, snob, and not deserving of their popularity since they have Big Hit behind them and millions of fans even before they debuted
Hm the questioning of whether they deserve what they have right now isn't because people call them entitled... It's because in order for their dreams to come true they had to beat the other contestants in a ruthless survival show (hence the lyrics, were they given the crown or have they taken it).
@@ashurasama and in the survival shows BH pours all the support, even getting the sunbaenims to come to teach or to show support, even BTS who's arguably the biggest group in the world right now, knowing it means army will come and watch the shows, and supporting Enhypen because they're BTS' juniors. These are privileges that won't happen if BH is not behind them. So I beg to differ. This is exactly why the lyrics were "given the crown or not"
@@viranakhairunnisaa5127 But while filming the show the boys didn't see that criticism, since they were basically cut from the world. Their personal experience is having to vote others out in the first half of the show, then having to see them leave one after the other because of the votes and judge's decisions. The song is basically about survivors' guilt after such a show, and how monstrous it makes them feel.
Yang Jungwon, leader of Enhypen, said this about the song: "Our debut album and lead single "Given-Taken" captures our reality of having formed a team after selection on I-Land. Although we're uncertain about if our debut was given or if we have taken this chance on our own, we express our determination to overcome these emotions." Also, the bridge where they talk about "Red blood / That crown / My fingers pointing to you keep staining red" seem to reference their time in I-Land where they had to vote out their fellow trainees (because in the first part of the show, who got to stay in I-Land weren’t actually up to the producers or judges or global vote, it was up to the trainees themselves) and the bridge almost questions whether them debuting was either given to them or they had to TAKE it. But either way they, at one point, had to betray their friends (fingers point to you, stained red) in order to debut (that crown). Their whole concept is vampires so having that whole transformation aspect representing how I-Land transformed them in real life was a clever symbolism IMO.
you should react to their dance practice, as well as their performance on MAMA2020, one of the members is actually a figure skater for 10 years before he wanted to become an idol, so the intro for their performance is him doing figure skating, apparently he didnt do some stunts because the stage floor is LED, but it is still amazing intro! i hope u can do a reaction for that
they recently came out with a dance practice also they are a group made from a survival show called iland! their oldest member is 19 the youngest is 14. theyre really young lmaoo but still very talented. you could also watch their side track stages called “let me in”, “10 months” and “flicker” hope this helps love you thina
Your interpretation of this song is actually really great... in their case, I think, they are trying to convey the expectation that the audience is put onto them as they were about to debut, especially since they've seen them from a survival show.
That part about getting married and having kids just hit too close to home. I'm 26 and a lot of people are giving me the same crap and the weird thing is those are totally random people that don't even know me. At a certain point I even had a melt down because to many people were like you're a girl you should or shouldn't do this or that (for example I can't even count how many told me that i shouldn't go to med school or be a surgeon). Like who gives you the right to say something like that? Sorry for the long rant but you struck a chord there. xD Anyway you just do you and ignore the haters, because people will always find something to complain about. Btw you could check out P1Harmony. They're FNCs new boy group that debuted like a month ago with the song Siren.
I agree its your life you should live it the way you want, don't let others tell you how to live, im only 19 but I don't want to get married later either, its just not for me like that's great if others will get married but I don't get why people expect everyone else to do the same thing, I want to live how I live and if one day I get married then great but if one day I don't also great because at least I did what I wanted to do not what others wanted me to do
@@enhypenot7xx534 Sorry for the late reply, I had a really crazy week. I completely agree. I don't have anything against marriage. I have friends who already tied the knot and have kids and that's great, but that's just not for me. I just don't see myself in that scenario right now... I guess i would get married if i find the right person in the future but if i don't that fine too. It's the 21 century and I don't see why marriage is still a must and society consider you are a failure if you're single. Life isn't a fairy tale where you live "happily ever after" just because you got a ring on you finger. At the end of the day it's just a legal contract with pros and cons, not a guarantee for a happy life. I'm fascinated by the double standards of society. No matter what you do someone's going to judge your actions so it's no use thinking about what people think. Just go with what feels right for you and Merry Christmas. :)
Hi just so you know, this group has the youngest leader (fang dude, bloody nose guy) in kpop ever at 16 years old. And that Ni-ki (float dude) is 15 and one of the best dancers in the industry. Hes literally a prodigy. I cant wait to see how he is in a few years!
they're all so young, but they can express this song very well, and dont forget about that dance skills that each one of them has, like whaaat. i'm in love.
Hello! I've been binge-watching your videos and I love that you really put your thoughts in terms of trying to understand everything as well as giving usedul details and information that has something to do with dancing. You're one of my fav youtubers so far.
ooh and your explanation of the lyrics is great, i have listened and watched many times this song together with its lyric and understood a bit of it but hearing you explain things from your point of view is interesting, i trully appreciated.
You're 37,and I'm 43 years old. I love these kids as much as i love BTS. Hope you can react to 10 Months, Let Me In and Flickers performances on their debut showcase. Btw,thank you so so sooo much😘
i will be happy if you watch their live performance an dance practice too. im always happy to watch dancer reacting to their dance practice. btw thank you for give our baby a chance
I really like this song! I'm looking forward to their next comeback:) You should check out another rookie group E'Last - Tears of Choas, very second gen sounding group.
yup. They just bravely debuted away from the usual cutie, boy next door, fresh or futuristic concept. And they pull it off so well. 🤗❤️ The "face" is the core of their perfomance Heeseung. 😁 All 7 are main visual material tho. 😌
"This is their debut?" no really cuz this song is a comeback material. When I first stan ENHYPEN, I watched all their performances and listened to their songs and I can't tell which is the debut song cuz all of them are so good and that's where I became an Engene. 💁
Please consider reacting to the group "Iz*one" they are a temporary group that was formed on the program "Produce48" they have 12 members. My favorite song is "Secret story of the swan" the dance is beautiful I'm sure you're gonna love it!
I've said this before, but this feel like a comeback, not a debut. Love the dark vampire vide they have. You should watch their dance practice and MAMA performance. So proud of them. They have a new mv that came out last week. ENHYPEN (엔하이픈) 'Let Me In (20 CUBE)' Official MV - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FKG48r9Wl8o.html
if you like theatrical vibes I highly Highly recommend The Boyz performances on Road to Kingdom the performances and the song arrangments are so amazing it is almost like they are trained as musical theater actors before being idols because of the way they stage their performances and dance is so complex
