oh wow, i was shocked for a second when i saw ep40 in the title. i hadn't realized it's been that many videos. how time flies glad to see this series is back!

I agree, the events are story relevant and chronologically it fits in around here.

I would recommend ruan mei whole heartedly! She fits in every team essentially. Out of all the harmony supports, I think most would agree she’s the overall best

18:20 i liked the xianzhou luofu! i will say that the way they structured the story itself was confusing and people got really lost however; belobog and the new planet after this both have done a better job with making the story easy to follow and engaging. i've always loved and been a fan of the characters and scenery though !!! it definitely took another playthrough of it on an alt account i have where i finally understood everything that happened more clearly lol

Though I do think Bailu can be quite valuable, since she can revive a character when they get downed. The Deer boss sure is an interesting one. I found Herta to be very helpful when I had to fight it the first time. Twirling all over those roots. I’m probably in the minority that I thought the Xianzhou story was pretty decent. Anyways, glad to have you back in Star Rail, Mage! I hope your cold goes away quickly.

this deer kicked my ass when i played this quest. my natasha couldn't keep up ;-; ended up moving forward when i got bailu and she carried me to victory

You have do Yanqing companion in order after defeat the deer to move forward to the main story because i saw a lot of people skip that and make a small mistake

hey mage be careful!!! new banner is a spoiler!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hope this helps jokes aside i need to express my utmost sympathy for the bailu incident. I just want to make it clear that i understand the pain completely, as someone with an e4 yanqing, e2 bailu and gepard, and STILL yet to ever get a bronya from the gacha (i used my guarantee at 300 pulls to get my only copy). I can only hope the game treats you better soon and gives you an early 5* or something. Feel free to give Ruan mei's character trial a try though! as long as you dont look to deeply into the other banner or actually play their trial it won't really spoil you so don't worry about that, and ruan mei's animations are too elegant and gorgeous to pass up imo. Remember the pity carries over to other banners anyway so it's never a waste if you like the look of a character

Nice to see you back. It's a real breath of fresh air to see some of your content when I'm having to slog through some of the higher level content. Also, I'm a bit jealous that you got another Bailu, since I just keep getting more of Welt and Himeko. Grass is greener on the other side though, I suppose. Keep it up! The story starts to get pretty interesting soon!

Welcome back! I had a feeling you wouldn’t want to spoil yourself with the next version of Trailblazer, totally fair. I agree that it’s more fun when you do it through story. I will say they’re very fun to use, so you have that to look forward to when you get there :) Edit: lolololol “what a welcome back!” *gets Bailu* ahahahaha Edit 2: I genuinely hate that deer in Simulated Universe (expansions modes). For the longest time I only had Yanqing to fight it with, but CC was such a problem. Now of course, my Himeko/Herta/Robin/Aventurine team laughs at this fight

Btw Mage, before continuing on to the next trailblaze mission, you should do Yanqing's and Luocha's quest since after this mission you did, it ended before the next trailblaze mission happened, and Yanqing's and Luocha's Quest is in the middle of both this mission and the next trailblaze mission, by unlocking Yanqing's story quest is by going to Central Starskiff Haven in the map and interact with Diting! (Or just navigate the purple mark on the map) For Luocha's, you need to interact with Da Hao at the realm keeping commision in the exalting sanctum map (or in your messages lol)

Ah the Ebon Deer I've been kinda waiting for this episode xD And hey if you don't get Ruan Mei remember the pity carries over (she really is pretty much the most valuable character in the game but I'm sure you've heard this a lot, but ngl both the charactes on the next banner are specialists at one particular endgame mode and won't offer near as much value FWIW)

Glad to see you back, I've been missing your Star rail videos! And you got me with that opening joke >.< And then, oh noes, struck by the Curse of Bailu.... Note that there's a permanently miss-able side quest line available that ties into the main story. If you want to do it, it should ideally be now before you progress further with the main story. The 2 missions it consists of are "Venom Brews, Immortality Looms" (which I think should be in your mission log) followed by "Sinners Misled, Credence Falsified."

Welcome back to Honkai, Mage! Whoever voices Master Gongshu would make a good Shakespearean actor. 31:10 I've been looking forward to seeing you fight this one. I love the design of this enemy; it's freaking gorgeous. But yeah, it's a tough fight. 1:05:07 I had to play around with my party set up on this one, too.

i will say, even tho it might be the "least liked" story arc of the game so far, its still good, like its not bad in any strech of the imagination, its just the least good of the amazing stories we have in star rail so far, and there is only 3 so far 4 if you count the space station not all of them can be the best, i quite liked this story personally

Ruan Mei is a great harmony character to have, one of the best currently if not the best, feel free to try for some "lucky" pulls on her banner as the pity will carry over to the next banner anyway

Ruan Mei would be a huge power boost for your teams. She is arguably still the best support unit in the game and that's the role you lack the most currently, so it would be kinda perfect for you. But this is just a recommendation ofc.

I do hope it doesn't end up being a thing where the fact that the banner being a spoiler slips mage's mind on like the last day of the banner and it getting spoiled that way. It is unfortunately very in your face and difficult to avoid. Thankfully this is probably one of the only characters that's going to be in a position where their literal art is a crucial spoiler? Obviously I don't know the future of the game and what kind of characters we'll see but this one is a spoiler for specific reasons that I don't think would end up being a common occurrence? Still nice to see a new episode, kind of wild it's been a whole 40 since the beginning.

Very sorry for your Bailu, friend... but silver lining: at least it's not a 50/50 loss right? For my mental sake, I prefer to expect not much from the Standard Banner and treat every 5-star drop as a simple bonus 😅 As you said, there's a quite unanimous dislike for this story arc... However, I've yet to find any complaints about the art direction or the characters. It needs official confirmation but apparently, the Luofu story was the first "main content" the team wrote. After that, it would be Belobog then Penacony. If that's truly the case... then we know the writing has improved over time! That's why I'm pretty stoked to get back to the Xianzhou for future story arcs. Nice environments and cool characters WITH good writing? Let's go ✊

Dude, two things, one about pulling for Mei, quite a number of ppl have gotten lucky and gotten early 5stars. Also you need to do those specific 2 world quests NOW, the ones they took away from the story before continuing it...

Hey Mage can you play Sea of Stars? I've been waiting for your gameplay for quite a while now 😢

Mage, turning on the PS5 only to do dailies could be very annoying all the time so you could download the game onto your phone to quickly do the dailies. Turning on the console on a day where you don't wanna play any games to only do some dailies or farming can be tiring, also you could use that to auto farm on your phone while playing other games. This game is very much like a daily chore and that aspect is very suitable for mobile devices, like any game that has an afk farming feature. Just a tip tough, for the case if you feel like it's annoying to trying to daily login and open the game on a PS

The 4pc relic set you are running on fu xuan is kinda useless because she heals whenever she goes below 50% hp anyway. Its better to run 2pc hp and the 2pc of the dmg reduction set you're currently running

I don't get why Loufu gets hate. Penacony is definitely the best so far and this one could use some improvements but I still think it's pretty good and liked it better than Herta Spaceship and Belobog. For me, every version is better than the last one as of now.

I'm gonna be honest, Ruan Mei is probably the best option to pull right now. Regardless of how you feel about the 5-star characters, the 4-stars on the next banner are pretty bad, nowhere near as good as the current list.

The problem with Xianzhou story was mostly bad pacing on it's release. It was pretty poorly spread in the updates. But if you consume it as a whole it's actually decent, though imo still a bit weaker than the other main arcs.
