Such a great video mama! Your kids are beautiful! Can't wait to see their videos on skate boarding, art and ballet! My 6 year old wants to learn how to skate board. He will definitely love watching the videos! I loved seeing their perspectives on homeschooling- pros and cons. Your boys are honestly so sweet and have the most beautiful eyes like their mama! You have a beautiful family mama... you can tell that you are raising them in God's path! God bless xoxo 😘

I have both this and Gather Round US History, I'm trying to decide which one to use for next year, my children will be grades 2, 5, 6, 7. I had planned to use Gather Round US History 2-4 next year, but I'm really liking the looks of Oh Freedom as well, I'm curious which GR US History you've used and if you finished Oh Freedom and how you maybe used both lol! I'd love to hear your thoughts! Thank you!!!!

I’d probably start with Gather around and then when you’re ready to cover US History again use Oh Freedom!

I wouldnt call myself "woke" but this looks like such a neat setup! I'm wondering about the book selections, one of the reasons why we pulled our kids out of public school because they were pushing things we didn't feel were appropriate topics to discuss and were super one sided with a very specific agenda. I'll look into this, thanks for the review! Your kids are TOOO cute!

I haven't purchased this curriculum, I'm only going off what I see in this review. Is it my understand that there is no mention of Viking exploration for North America, but yet exploration of South America, including Columbus (who by the way never set foot in North America)? I understand that there should be reference to the events that lead to European exploration and colonization of what is now the United States, but there seems to be a lot of emphases on the South American exploration and colonization and zero reference to the North American exploration prior to...The New World or Before Columbus audio? I'm curious to know how the remainder of this curriculum went, especially as far as the view points on war. I can see that there are some events in the summary in reference to the relationship between Japan, Japanese immigrants, and the United States during WWII. I may have to purchase the curriculum to see what incidents have been included and excluded. I ca not tell you how many people I've heard reference Hiroshima but have zero clue about Pearl Harbor, the amount of people who have no idea what POW means. If you have a video on how your overall feelings were at the end of the curriculum, and I didn't see it, I appologize.

So you would say this is a COMPLETE US history? Do you think this is useable for a 2nd grader who loves history? Or is this still a tad advance skill wise?

Sonlight or Bookshark had as K-2 US history that could work well.

Hi just found your RU-vid page I'm a new momma into homeschooling was wondering if this is a full curriculum of US History and is it good to teach a 2nd grader and a kindergarten please help
@RootedHomeLife
@RootedHomeLife 3 года назад
Hey Krystal! I would say that’s too young for Oh Freedom, but the Gather Round history unit studies would probably be perfect! If you are interested in doing little mini units of other countries my favorite for that age are by Thistles and Biscuits-they are linked in my description box with a discount code! They are super affordable to begin with!

@@krystallopez9668 I also really love Gather Round for Science, BUT right now there is a Back to School bundle that gets you countless units, nature science, human body, so many-it released today and is available until the 23rd-I just posted it about on my Instagram today! @@krystallopez9668 we LOVE nature study-and for those ages it is perfect! What I do is I actually use the Exploring Nature with Children Curriculum which is actually a year long study that you can pick and choose from-there is a different topic every week-and then use the units and activities like the ones in the bundle to go along with it! Here’s the link to ENWC if you want to check it out! payhip.com/b/vWOq/af6055d10972d9c

Have you used the Gather Round "Underground to Canada" unit or their "US history 1: A New World" unit? I want to give them a shot but I find it odd that they picked a book about slavery that was written by a white woman. I'm worried that it's going to be watered down or gloss over things. Same with A New World. We are a multiracial family and it's important to me to teach a well rounded honest history. I would love to hear your opinion on it especially after giving Oh Freedom a try.
@RootedHomeLife
@RootedHomeLife 3 года назад
Great question! I actually planned to do it this year, and I ordered the book and everything, but my order got cancelled and we got busy doing other things so I just gave up on it for now! We love Of Freedom and it is definitely comprehensive, just not assignment heavy, they just journal along with it. It definitely doesn’t gloss over anything, so it may be a bit much for a 2nd grader. However, you know your child best! I don’t think we’ll do either of those units next year because of Oh Freedom-it will definitely take us through next year! And the texts are so good!!
@samanthawoods615
@samanthawoods615 3 года назад
@@RootedHomeLife thank you so much for the thorough reply!! We use Gather Round as our core curriculum so it makes sense to do their history and such too but I am super cautious about history curriculum. We have been using story of the world this year but I am always keeping an eye open for a good well rounded US history curriculum
@RootedHomeLife
@RootedHomeLife 3 года назад
@@samanthawoods615 Of course! I totally understand your concerns-this is really important to me as well, which is why I chose Oh Freedom! Not only did it specifically say a “conscious” US history, but also not “whitewashed,” and then when I found out it was created by a homeschool mom of color I was sold! I absolutely love it, but that’s not to say Gather ‘Round isn’t amazing-it might be great! You could always grab Oh Freedom and if you think it’s too much just save it for later. My code is good until May 31st. You could always blend them too! Just some ideas!
