I don’t know how to describe my feeling watching this. Because graduate jobs (people with zero experience) in consulting pay at least 30k in regional offices (outside London). Considering the amount of work nurses do,I feel nurses are grossly underpaid!
Not bad as you will be gaining more experience for yourself. This current improvement in your nursing career plus those achieved in the care home could pave way for you to a higher position somewhere someday in life. Keep moving.
It's nice to see that you are happy being in the NHS, Nanelle. After all said and done, we always come to realize it's not all about the money. Yes, money is important but skills will fetch you more money and farther milestones on the long run. I wanted to be in the care home when I first arrived but thank God I'm in the NHS. It's mental health, and I still feel like you felt in the care home because I'm a general trained nurse and miss the skills in the acute hospital setting😅. But, the good thing is that I can say I have acquired huge skills in mental health nursing. Cheers Nanelle
I work in a dementia nursing home... My steps a day is over 12000. I'm considering moving to the NHS as well. Thanks, Nanelle, for this great insight ❤
My advice will be once you get your desired level of experience, stop full time and join the bank so you can pick night and weekend shifts for more pay
I moved to d nhs from a care home n I can say I’m getting more hia with my bank shift but d first few months b4 I started bank was rough I’m not going to lie, tried to make dem consider my years of experience in d care home but na lie 😂 I almost wanted to go back but it was worth it at the end of the day.
The difference has always been clear…. Ppl should make their choices based on their circumstances, I’m a professional nurse so should receive better pay . Some factory or warehouses pay up to 13pound per hour, most of their staff are non professionals.. not degree holders or even educated. So the pay is low compared to the job and requirements. I would say if you want to go to nhs make sure you don’t have financial obligations (so much needs) because it will be hard to fund your needs especially if you have large family. Again I understand there are suppleny payments which comes with so many extra shifts.
I believe NHS contributes over 20% in pension. Civil service contributes 27% to employees pension, so if an employee contribute 5% to his/her pension, that's 32% in pension monthly. Depending on the employee grades/pay, that could be over £10k in pension annually. Pension is one of the big benefit why some people chose to be a civil servant.
Well.. thats why yall Uk nurses that stingy😂😂 Im in Frankfurt Germany, earn a minimum of 3000€ netto for 37.5hrs as an intensiv pflege nurse and extra 530€ for working 4 days in a care home. Roughly i get 3400€ minimum net per month. Renting a 31m2 apartment at 730€ with bills, roughly use up 1100€ on living expenses with rent and food inclusive. Send 400--700€ to ghana every month and save a minimum of 1500€ every month🎉 keep the 300-400 € as spare for the month and when is not used at the end of the month, i add it to savings 🎉 yall need to come to Germany. Better social advantages too. Well the language is a must, but is better than wasting years waiting for Cos and all that. U could just use a year to learn the language.🎉
I work as a band 2 in the NHS,I strategize as we have opportunities to request duty of 4 shifts in a month and I usually pick it as Saturday and Sunday nights and this has greatly boost my pay to as much as net pay of 2k after deductions.Average of 6 to 7 nights in a month
I never knew the pay is this low if not for the evidence (payslip) you provided. I hope you guys are being paid 13th/14th month salary? In conclusion, good to know that you are happy with the job and there is good career progress in the current job. See you at the top soon.
Thank you for always being so real. I saw that you reduced your working hours in the care home. How did you go about it? Did you need another COS? How did you inform home office please? I really want to reduce my hours but I need good details please 🙏
