When Oh fences the piste becomes two metres longer... Footage from @Fencing Vision and @Sydney Sabre Follow me on Insta: / slicersabre Music: CFM Production www.youtube.co.... provided by CFM: cfmfreemusic.com
Best part of this video upon rewatching is his opponents' reactions. Half of the reactions are pure soul-crushing shame ("wow he made me look like an idiot.") The other half are incredulous, almost like they think he's cheating or something. 🤣
I especially love Apithy and the other french sabrists reactions to the last one. One dude straight up just puts his hands on his head like WTF did I just watch
I love when instead of just jumping away celebrating, they take at least a sec to show a respect sign with the opponents. Yet it's not bad to celebrate.
Interesting to watch from a classical fencing perspective in which you don't want to get hit and die. Reading a Girard or Macbane or the Angelo's and you see a lot of focus on being safe from your enemy. This is incredibly athletic and these guys have great senses of measure and timing.
After watching Twenty Five, Twenty One youtube is still showing me Korean fencing videos lol I guess by watching it I did gain some appreciation for the sport that I didn't have before Good job Korea and OhSangUk!
I have a question, why are there moment where, for example here, 0:22, the red hits first but the point is given tho the green. Wasn't the first to hit the one to win?
In sabre it is not about who hits first it's about who hits with "priority". In the above example the fencer on the left initially has priority because he is attacking but Oh blocks his attack with a parry so gains priority and hits. Samele hits out of turn after he has been parried.
