I saw Skynyrd during their "Tour of the Survivors" in June of '77 and it was the stuff of legends. In October of that year the music died. What happened next with the Rossington Collins Band, and later on with the "Lynyrd Skynryd" band you see here, is not much more than tribute bands. There were a few dollars to be squeezed out of the fandom and they went for it, and still are today.
You do know that's the new Lynyrd Skynyrd Band right? This singer is Johnny Van Zandt. The brother of the original lead singer Ronnie Van Zandt. Johnny is a good replacement. But not Ronnie. Sadly Ronnie was died in a plane crash in 77/78. You should listen to just the original audio with Ronnie singing. Listen to the One More From the Road album. It's live, and has almost every single hit on it.
I did not realize that! I will definitely check out the audio version from the album! I did read that Johnny filled in well and now I know just how well. Thanks @jbockman4170 for checking out the channel!
You should listen to the pre-crash band playing this. There's no video of them playing it live, but there is a really good lyric video out there. The Ronnie era band is so much better.
Hey @elizabethjohnson! I actually listened to the studio version on my Moteventure Reactions Spotify playlist last night and I totally get what you mean. What an awesome song and voice! Thanks for checking out my channel too.
