Had a chance to visit the project this summer with the fort ancient field school, amazing, so glad to see the word about understanding the Hopewell culture being put out here,

Amazing, what kind of population was in the America’s in ancient times then to build structures like this

There is a hopewell enclosure next door to my house in fairfield county. I always wondered what it was used for.. It's the circle type with an opening and a mound in the center. Farmers just don't care about this stuff. One field I hunt arrowheads in had a nice mound in it and they bulldozed it this fall. I walked it looking for artifacts but found none. Found lots of charcoal at the base.

The mound/trenches were part of the original structure. The people who built them were trying to protect their villages and the larger structure circles were massive lodges. They needed to dig the trenches and mounds along with the massive timber’s jutting out as massive fense posts (“post-like anomalies “)to stop any stampeding Buffalo (which covered the United States by the millions) from trampling their villages or them.

The other gateway could be on the moon cycle and the moon cycle sometimes goes up to 10 years or something like that so you won’t see the moon there except for 10 years or 18 years I can’t remember which one it is that’s some to look into thank you
