That is “Walter Junie Morrison” lead vocalist! Sugarfoot did not take the lead vocalist spot until Junie left the group! An Ohioan and Ohio Players fan for life!
I'm old enough to remember when this song came out, but I swear I didn't know this was the Ohio players until one day I brought the song up on RU-vid. It could've knocked my socks off, but anyway, I know this is a cartoon, but watching this guy dance is just as entertaining as the song. It's almost hypnotic watching this, I can watch over and over again
Another fact: this groove is basically, Cannonball Adderley’s “Hummin’.” Julie just threw in some improvised lyrics. Otherwise, the true writer of this song is NAT ADDERLEY, SR. Cannonball’s 45 of “Hummin’” is here on the Tube; listen and you’ll hear the same piano and bass riffs and a “similar” horn line.
This is cool. I was going to make that same correction about the turban....that turban was the trademark of Marshal Jones l ( the O.P..s bassist ). There's hardly Any recordings of Junie performing LIVE with the Ohio Players. But the Ohio Players' Unsung documentary has a quick clip (around counter 424) of Junie performing "Pain" on Soul Train (on keyboard wearing a Red & White ). Ain't No telling what other gems Soul Train got locked up in their vaults.
@@KennethBernardotoons Did you check put the one I just mentioned? It was embedded on a documentary done by TvOne's UNSUNG series. Do a RU-vid search for "Unsung Ohio Players"...posted by Diamond Media - then FFwd to counter 424. This is the Only LIVE performance I've been able to find. I wish Soul Train would release it. I like your post ! Slick 😎
@@wesgriffin6081 Great help cooperating. I like your style personality wise shown here. Music is a great rallying point as it automatically deals with a common interest which is always the BEST POINT of sharing. People should keep DIFFERENCE to them selves because they are only resolvable within the MAKER of the DIFFERENCE. No one can change another that is unwilling to do so. I do not want anybody trying to change me that is my job if I thing and see fit to do so. I am definitely a true believer in INDIVIDUALITY as it is the most unique part of a true life in being yourself. ENOUGH enjoy the moment SAASAA.

NO.....thank YOU..this was brilliant! I saw the Ohio Players at the Apollo back in these pre "skin Tight" days. They were on Westbound records and Junie Morrison sang leaf and played keyboards! I have shared this clip with so many!!! I have an album being released this spring and I would love to work with you guys. How can I contact you?
@@MrCarltonjsmith HA HA skintight what a reminder. A time when myself and friend was at a lake cooling off in off in this small town of Livermore. Ca. Just for kicks we just took mud and covered out body and then walk through the neighborhood just to see how people would react. The family thought it was an absolute absurd blast.
It was a instrumental then they added the voice and singing the horns bring an urgency to the pain hang on the pain was so great he was saying take me oh woooooo
