These are great knives! I have 3 of them. Also the newer Lake Champlain Barlows are even better, but for the price the ORJ is probably the best modern traditional out there.
Can confirm: Excellent way to get started! I somehow skipped budget-y blades like RCB for this right away. I think M390 for just over $100 stole my heart. I also like that the micarta isn't a high polish. It gives it a more rugged look while helping out with just enough tactility.
I love my Oho River Jack and only wish I was able to get it with the spear point or double blade option. I like it because I was born in Ohio and love slip joint knives.
I have a green macarta spear point and a natural macarta spear that was turned into a clip point. I feel with the Champlain Barlow people have forgotten about the ORJ but they are great well made slipjoints
