I'm will look much like you when it comes to visiting the Amish. My hubby says I need my country fix. I was born in West Virginia, but I've been in Ohio (Akron) most of my life. I still love the country!!! We like to go to Holmes county and as my hubby says "follow the horse poop". We enjoy our time together in those peaceful surroundings. It's just so calming and beautiful there. God bless you
Glad for you. The Amish family I met in Millersburg are awful....went to court, tried to take grandchild from good mother. And went in court and lied about her. I used to look up to Amish , but now turn my head when I see. Its not all their fault, but boy its hard to imagine someone saying they belong to a "God fearing " community and doing that. So horrible . Im not perfect, but am so turned away from that community.

We in Ohio loves theses great loving people..I'm Christian and one day my car broke down and the great Amish helped me and a Amish gave me water to drink and We became true friends..God have bless Ohio and us Christians with our brothers and sisters the great Amish!!
I agree. Giving water to drink and helping others in need is just terrible and sick. What is this world coming too? What happened to the days where we just stomped on those in need as we went on with our business? Just terrible....
Beautiful. That is all I can say. Nice views, a calm & a relaxing way of life (I can relate to it a bit, living in the countryside myself). Im really jealous and fascinated. It would be a dream come true to see that IRL sometime.

Believe me just under the facade of serenity and pastoral landscapes is sex, incest, violence, drugs, drug mules, the occult, sickness, misery, ignorance,double dealings, shady business, animal abuse, horrific puppy mills, internet crime and tax evasion. Many are trapped in this cult due to little education and no contacts with the outside world to assist their transition. It looks good from the outside but Amish life is NOT what they want you to believe. They skim what they want from freedom and contribute little to it.
I'm not Amish, but I've given up everything for Jesus. I'm a born-again follower of Jesus. God's Word doesn't dictate what we wear or how we look, but it does tell us to dress modestly and be ready to lay our lives down for the cause of Christ.
If I had 1 wish it would be to visit an Amish district Amish are so peaceful an put together people I dont get tired of seeing them thanks to the Amish
They are living like Abraham Lincoln life time. Where men and women, have different role in the family . Today is confusing periods for the family values. However Should be a nice experience to stay with them for a period.
I was born and raised maybe an hour and a half from Holmes County and love driving down I 71 which is the outer edge of Amish country. Nothing prettier than seeing horse buggies cross over the highway. I hope They NEVER assimilate and give uo what they know to be true.
Love the vibes of the Amish and truly miss the great cultural cross corridors of NYC back in the 80's to 90's. I heard the Amish are diminishing due to many defecting into high tech hedonistic society. Many Amish women are in porn now. Sad days for the Amish
I love their way of life,although it's so much work,they have learned to enjoy life inspite of it.I just want to say that the English work very hard too but in different way.nurses,factory workers,plumbers etc all work hard not just the Amish. But I believe they have a close connection with God and their traditions as a people.we could learn alot from them.
It all looks and seems like a beautiful especially as I grow older. I just wonder how long I could sustain in this way before having the urge of modern technology or wanting to travel. I would have to be isolated from modernization. I guess what you dont know wont hurt you. I love the Lord and I admire those who live their their way biblically. Is it overdoing it with their way of life
Funny how every one thinks that amish life is so romantic an everything is great LMAO ! i live in amish country an know lots of them an its the furthest thing from the truth .
If you ever get a chance go to a amish ir mennonite store. The homemade foid is off the charts its so delicious. And their homemade bread cakes and pies are unbelievable. You will never forget the food its home grown goodness
