I'm a lifetime Georgia bulldogs fan 55 years old and I remember the great Nebraska teams they were a handful of breaks away from a really good season last year there very close
This is going to be one of the best college football seasons in history. We’ll have Ohio State, a team filled with players who didn’t get drafted just to win a NC. We’ll have Georgia who has gone 40-1 in their last 41 games, back to back NC winner who didn’t get a chance last year looking to prove they should have. Oregon and Texas who both want to prove themselves as top dawgs in their new conferences, Alabama with their first new coach in decades looking to prove that even without Saban they can still win. FSU who wants to prove they should’ve been in the Playoff last year. Not to mention teams that are top 10 that want to make their say for the playoff now that it’s expanded, Ole Miss in particular. Michigan wanting to prove they’re still on top, Clemson wanting to make a comeback and the list goes on
As a a huge Clemson fan, you hit the nail on the head, I am so ready for this year, nothing better than opening up the season with a test like Georgia in the Mercedes dome
@@Burrow4prezz Your Tigers will get tested for sure. I'm not a fan of either squad, but you can bet your bottom dollar this Big 10 fan will be watching. I hope it's a good one. Cheers!
Hi Joel, been a viewer/listener for the past couple of years and I love the content. You give great insight into the full world that is College Football. I was hoping you could do a video about your 2 or 3 dark horses in each conference? Thanks so much, much love to my Bruins fans. Go UCLA!!!!
GA fan here and I dont take the 2 spot as a slight. Issues with closeout speed on defense last year and the schedule just like every year is alot harder than OSUs. OSU will be healthier come playoff time and have seen half of the competition. We all saw how tight the last matchup was and Im hoping to see it again this year!!
MI was not the best team last year-the best team missed the playoff due to a 3 pt loss to the GOAT in a game where UGA's two first round draft picks were injured.
The most talented teams are not always the best teams. Michigan was the best team last year because they developed at a level other programs haven’t, and they leveraged that development with many players returning along with a great culture. Ohio State has a more talented team than Michigan, but they’ve not proven they’re better. To the contrary, they’ve underachieved.
Georgia has a proven track record and Ohio State still has a lot to prove. I’m not shocked that he has UGA at #2. He has bet against them for the last few years.
Lmao the only difference between the two has been a couple injured receivers. OSU has been better than UGA since Ryan Day took over. Similar performance but no South Carolina loss and a couple injuries
I guess Klatt doesn’t value the QB position that much. Both teams have equal talent on the field. One team has the better coaching staff and arguably the best QB in college football coming back and the other team has a transfer coming in.
@@RadicallyOptimisticYou won’t answer this but how exactly has Ohio State been a better program than Georgia the last 5 seasons? The Olympics are going on right now and I love watching gymnastics. I’d love to see the mental gymnastics you’re going to have to pull off to make that argument.
USC and Utah people. Especially the latter. You’ll wake up and one of em will be in the final four. Respect to Joel for paying attention to areas outside the South
Your Tennessee prediction is reasonable and I agree with it. I could see us 10-2. But could Also see things not coming together and us going 8-4 or 7-5
Deboer wins anywhere. Kirby loads his roster 3 deep and loses to 4 win South Carolina. Deboer is the best coach in America. And no, Carson Beck is not the best QB
@@BattleFlacidHe thinks he should have won the Heisman lmfao! After Beck goes #1 overall in the draft you can ask the pros who they think is better.
Everyone on Oregon’s starting 22 last year, was a starter, except for the center, and he started the bowl game. 10 of them were transfers, and were the best on their teams. And several of the backups were starters last year at different school. Expect Oregon to be better than #4, since they’re already favored to beat Ohio state, and unlike Ohio State, Oregon can hold onto a lot of their playbook for Ohio State. But Ohio State has to play Iowa, and they can’t hold back, based on Iowa’s defense. And Oregon gets to watch that game as a team which will pay huge dividends, since they play on Friday against a weak Michigan State at home. And I hope they watch Oregon play on Friday, because that will affect them when they watch Oregon, which is why Iowa is a trap game. But I think Ohio State squeaks by late.
Yep. How are you one of the top college football experts and don't know Dylan Sampson's name? And the disrespect towards Nico with the clueless attempts at his name are getting old. Actually try to convince us that you actually do your job correctly. Because all I saw here was a copy of everyone else and a pathetic attempt to pretend to know anything about any team not named OSU, Georgia, Bama or Texas. Klatt exposing himself. No one had to do it for him.
Georgia fan here. I can respect what Day is doing at OSU, and give the credit that their talent pool is DEEP! Not mad that you put them #1 at all. But I’m still going UGA above them. Of course I’m biased, and openly admit it, but the big game experience and wins Kirby has under his belt still give us the edge I feel. OSU is a field goal away from beating us and going to the natty, I get that. But the fact is they had us beat by 14 points 2 times that game, and couldn’t seal the deal. I’m aware Harrison was cooking us all game, and if he didn’t go out we probably lose. But I do hope we play them again this year, because I still get goosebumps from that Peach Bowl game!
Much love and respect man that game hurt my soul but was an amazing game! I honestly root for Georgia unless we play you.Good luck in the season I don’t see Georgia or Ohio State losing a regular season game this year
@@ohiostatebuckeyezone6207 man I think I had about 4 different heart attacks that game! 😂 I can see it too. I think Oregon is y’all’s biggest challenge, and it’s a road game. I lean Oregon currently, but Lanning hasn’t proven he can win big games yet so he might drop the ball. I’ll be tuned in to that one for sure! I feel like we’re destined for a postseason meeting, and I can’t wait! Still hate y’all for getting Downs over us though. 😂
@@camdonhill The odds of Oregon beating OSU what would have to be 3 times to make it to the Natty are extremely slim. They're defense could be the best they've had in decade or more so, scary team if healthy all around. I remember my fellow Dawgs getting cocky before Natty game and I was telling them were in for a fight, one reverse call against Marvin saved us.
@@jdawg9137 I’m just falling for the Oregon hype the same I did last season when I picked them to beat Washington both times. 😂 Only reason I consider Oregon in this case is just home field advantage. That place is gonna be insane that day.
I'm not sure what to think about a Georgia fan admitting an injury most likely affected the outcome of a game. You may not be one of them but almost all Georgia fans openly say Alabama losing Metchie and JMo had no effect on the rematch with Georgia (which is ironic considering JMo by himself was cooking Georgia until he went down. Alas I want to agree with you about injuries but I fully believe the guys behind JMo and Metchie failed us. They dropped at least 2 for sure TD passes and other potential big plays/3rd down conversions. OSU had talent other than Harrison too. Both sides can be right. This is why we play the game. One thing I do agree with you on and that is Georgia should be ranked ahead of OSU in rankings ( I get it rankings are personal for most). No one can deny the amount of talent OSU put together (losing Caleb Downs hurt us big time however not sure why tf they chose to get Seth "I have the yips" McLaughlin for their center. Did they not watch the Rose Bowl or any Alabama game last year?) but acquiring talent and getting them to play are two different things (Day has not succeeded consistently at the latter). I also think Klatt is crazy for having Ok St/Kansas/OU ahead of Tennessee. On that same note there is no doubt that despite the big change at HC at Alabama the staff as a whole in honestly way better than what Saban had his last few years so bias or not I do not believe ND and Michigan are better teams going into this season. But it's honestly speculation on all our parts. That's why they play the games on the field not in our heads or on paper.
“Can you imagine the anxiety in Columbus if Michigan in Beats Texas in September” buddy that won’t change a thing for us I promise. We want to beat them by 100 every year no matter what.
He fans won’t care but the team itself and Ryan day will be having ptsd and shittin their britches if Michigan ends up looking good again this year gunna be dreading the game.
@@abh3136you do realize michigan has the longest win streak over Ohio state right won from 1897 to 1918 went 13 wins with 2 ties against those clowns 🤡 you really need do more research 😅
As a hardcore Ducks fan, The Big 12 has no idea how much trouble they’re in with Utah coming over! Trust me, we’ve had some amazing battles with The Utes!! They’re no joke!!
I agree with everything except for Ohio state. Ryan day can’t win a big game like vs Michigan or Georgia in the playoff. I think they should be ranked at 3 or 4.
You're correct. #1 team in the country should belong to the defending champion until they lose it. And yeah, that's my favorite team and school to hate. But it makes more sense. Go Buckeyes! ❤️🩶
The starter (95% sure it’s Howard) only has to be as good as JJ McCarthy was last year. Dominant defense and two of the best backs in football. How good/great the o-line plays is more of a concern.
How in the world - when comparing Bama and Michigan - do you not mention the massive disparity in roster talent? Is this ranking based partly on strength of schedule? Florida is a top 25 caliber team with the hardest schedule potentially ever. Edit: at 24:30 you said Florida isn’t a good team. The betting industry begs to differ, outside their win total odds.
The amount of love Miami, USC, and other teams get while people are always hating on Tennessee is astonishingly. Tennessee probably beats 10 of the teams ahead of them on this list. Big 12 is weak but gets a lot of love. Mizzou and FSU have one good season under their coaches and they become media darlings. No way DJ duplicates what Travis did at QB for FSU. ND is ALWAYS overrated and under perform without ever having to play a conference championship game. They will never join a conference because the AP and other media outlets give them as pass year in and year out. You think USC will be better on defense but Tennessee won’t? You don’t think Tennessee’s QB situation is leaps better than it was last? Is Tennessee in the top 10? That’s debatable but being outside the top 15? That’s criminal and wild. I do agree with the top 5 though. 6-17 is all questionable at best.
Well the schedules factor into the rankings. Ex. USC could finish higher in the rankings because of a more favorable schedule but be pound for pound worse than Clemson.
Awesome. I dont know enough about what im listening too but it all mad sense. Of course we dont know all little surprises that always pop up. Thanks for sharing. Go Dawgs
Just get rid of 5 minute commercials. And if I'm not mistaken, none of the ad money goes to the athletes. The NIL comes from other sources. Some of that TV money should go to the players. Just on principal.
The crazies on Twitter came out to blast Joel but he didn't really say anything that was incorrect. Who Joel puts #1 preseason, shouldn't be that big of a deal. You can pretty much flip a coin on the top2 because they'll be the top2 everywhere. This season will definitely make the playoff selection/seeding very interesting!
He mispronounced two of the three Tennessee players he mentioned. He has Bama at 8. OK sure. Said Miami is an 11-1 team easily. 😂 OSU over Georgia is hilarious. Notre Dame top ten is typical fraud alert. Should I keep going or are you convinced now?
@@SlimSavageBlanco LoL! Ohio St beating Georgia is possible. They were a missed FG away a couple years ago. Outside of Oregon, Ohio St's schedule looks soft. Will they be prepared come Nov30 or will they get pushed around again. Think there will be a couple solid ACC teams. ND is in the "prove it to me" boat. They're a good team but I don't know if they're a title contender. Fans are getting fired up!
@@SG-jv5zi This has been “Another Poor Take”, brought to you by the same guy who claims “Michigan will win back to back national championships”. Join us tomorrow to see what nonsense this guy says next!
Totally forgot Martinez was going to Miami also, I agree they're going to be a very good team this year with him and Cam Ward, despite how much I dislike saying it as an Oregon fan!
Oklahoma St is not winning the Big XII this year. Not after K-State has had a year to think about the loss in Stilwater last year. K-State is about to whoop the Cowboys this year and I hope KSU runs the score up on them too
@@alexkain8564 NIL is legal, 8th easiest SOS in P5, 8 returning starters, 5 P5 transfers, 8th in offense last year, the death penalty mustangs will be back. it’s just a prediction that’ll probably become realistic. to be fair, Oklahoma was the only team hindering OK State to ever get in a CFP year in and year out. now both Texas and Oklahoma are gone, it’s their conference to lose IMO
@@GoatedAtNFS Not with Oklahoma St’s defense its not. Their defense every year is middle of the pack at best. Look at what K-State did to their defense two years ago in Manhattan. It was 48-0 and very easily could have been worse. K-State is the better team and they will show it this fall. Much better quarterback than Oklahoma St too
@@alexkain8564 The new Oklahoma State DC was a rookie at P5 last year after promotion from Div2. Should improve drastically in year 2. Oklahoma State has a talented QB on the bench. Mike Gundy is not going to use him unless necessary. If plain vanilla Bowman is enough to beat K State, he will just lets the steady veteran do his job.

Michigan returned more in 2020, and won just 2 games. Yes that was Covid, but even being generous that probably only translates to 6-8 wins in a normal season. Mind you that was with an experienced head coach who had been there for 5 years, and all 11 countable coaches returning from at least the year before. See you in November. Go Bucks.

Trey'Dez Green. Don't forget this name. Like Leonard Fornette, he was a man among boys in high school, and it showed on film. He may "only" be a TE, but he will be a difference maker at LSU along with Mason Taylor. With Nussmeier under center, they may look completely different, but they will still be explosive on offense. LSU at 18 is an over bettor's wet dream.

The only thing I have every disagreed with Joel Klatt about is Ohio state at one. It is true that they return every one like 〽️, but compared to Michigan their culture is nonexistent. Georgia is 1.
Joel is one of my top 3 college analysts. However, I’ve long detected he is not a fan of FSU. That doesn’t deter me from being a fan and watching his show because I trust his analysis, knowledge, and love of the game as well as his insider insights of the CFB infrastructure. But isn’t it a tad late to state they shouldn’t have been left out when you (Joel) seemed entirely comfortable that they were? I understand the argument was that on principle, they should be in but from a ratings standpoint, the decision was fine. It is what it is. It was last year and in the past now. I’m just hoping that this team uses the playoff debacle to fuel them and go even further than last year’s team. Glad football season is upon us and I’m looking forward to Joel’s insights.
It wouldn't be Klatt if he didn't elevate OSU. Knew it before he even got to it. Everyone watching, I hope you have a great season, CFB is almost here!
I don't have any issues with that, but you did say UGA in not so many words has the better team just the harder schedule, you don't rank teams base on schedule you rank them on the team then you rank their schedule, gonna be a great season, looking forward to bigger playoff...Go Dawgs!
Joel just wanted you to know you come across as a very likable person. Your perspective about family and parenting are also much appreciated. As a Buckeye fan, you and Gus are unsurprisingly my favorite broadcast duo. Please keep up the great work.
To me it comes down to QB play. When both teams have similar talent I will always put the team with the proven, better QB over a team with an unproven transfer.
I never understood rating a team by their upcoming schedule and where you think they'll finish. You rate how good you think the team is going into the season. And then you change after each week
