My parents bought me the Ohuhu 80 set for Christmas and at first I was somewhat disappointed because I had originally asked for Copics. Yet now I absolutely adore my Ohuhu markers and am rob ably going to buy more soon. ( I cannot afford Copics unfortunately but may invest in the skin tone set soon. )
I'm so glad that you've come to like them and plan on getting more! For the price, they really are great! I also have the skin tone pack from Copic and love those too! Thanks for watching! =)
That’s what I’ve been doing!! My ohuhu 80 set is my favorite pack of markers I’ve owned. However, I use the copics for skin tone sets because I know they have more variety for darker skin tones. Honestly it’s a great combination.
I was telling my aunt about ohuhu brush markers and she's really into art and stuff too and instantly she goes online and says 'im ordering them tomorrow ur getting the 80 set' I was really happy I started crying, heh ;3; I'll update when I get them
I probably won't get copics. 1. They're too expensive and I'm cheap 2. and lastly the colour aren't as vibrant as I like my markers. I'll probably use ohuhu for a long time and ohuhu markers getting brush nibs will probably make me stick to ohuhu(if the price doesn't increase) Edit: Never got so much likes thx
btw copics do have vibrant colors, its just the artist in this arent using the best colors. i have a few blues that would match a lot of the ohuhu’s vibrancy
Fanta Soft Drinks , I definitely agree. I also mention in the video that I don't have as many colors as I'd like to have with Copics due to their affordability, but I also mention that you can absolutely reach a very nice vibrancy with Copics depending on the colors chosen. Thank you so much for watching! =)
Yea the Ohuhu looks a bit washed out. But even with the Copics having a more painting-like quality, I bet mixing both markers would've given a nice tonality to the whole piece. I was loving the Ohuhu bright skin at first, but then once she laid down the Copic skin, that side felt more like something you'd see in an art gallery. The excessive brightness of the right is giving me "teenager's coloring book" vibe. Not that it's a bad thing, but my creative tastes have matured. I'm now into more jewel tones, instead of saturated neons & bright pastels. Too much eye stimulation can be distracting. I prefer the tonal values of the left piece, they give more depth -- like what her real skin would look like if she was a 3D animation.
This is really great and I am also so excited for when Ohuhu comes with a brush nib. Too bad I may get it by the end of the year since my parents just recently bought me Ohuhu and they might not want to buy another one after they just bought me some. Anyways, I am super excited and can't wait for them.
hi! where have you heard that they will be coming out with a brush nib? I know they have water color brush nibs but not alcohol (sorry if its said in the video, its too early to watch with sound so i just watched mute)
@luly lulyanka Ohuhu's instagram is where they released the news about brush nibs coming this year. They mentioned sometime during the spring or summer. There's no official release date just yet though but as we get closer to spring or summer I'm sure they'll release more details about it.
They sure are. I'm glad I was able to get my hands on this pack. Previously I was just hitting up my local Hobby Lobby store and purchasing them one at a time with their 40% off coupon. lol It was a slow process but it's the only way I can afford them. Thanks for watching!! =)
sometimes there are sales watch out for them!! I just got a pack of rather cheap copics, a set of 6 primary for 5 dollars a piece. last set they had. my country actually doesn't have copic, and we just recently got 1 store to import them through germany. because of that the taxes pile up from germany + us and makes a single copic about 14 dollars a marker. which is insane! so its very difficult for even the adults here to get a hand on those. but dont be fooled copics aren't the only options out there, people tend to glorify it and make it seem as the best out there by comparing other markers to it, but some markers are definitely their own thing and are good on their own! if not better! yes I heard many people say they didn't like copic so they went to other markers. the most common one i know of is promarkers, they tend to be rather cheap and affordable, they also have a great arrange of colors from very dark to very light. some colors that i have in both copic and promarkers I actually prefer in promarkers. though it must be difficult to understand that, and I can relate. thinking that there is no way something is better than copic or could be, and even if there is copic is just so magical in your eyes you will love it no matter what it is. thats why a lot of people and artists won't tell you about the bad side of copic which does exist, some minor examples of it being the cap doesn't match the color, the colors can be too bright or vivid making them so plastic looking they can't blend properly (mine are in a pack so its not like i specifically chose them) and also some of the colors aren't solid and make a weird blotchy texture. also other copic products that are not markers have their faults too, I own a metal liner pen , because it was the only way I could obtain a size 003 in this country (till we got a new brand that has it) and the metal pen is just horrible, it looks BEAUTIFUL on paper, like a real manga , its almost absurd ,but the struggle to get to the desired affect is too much to bare, it's very dry and barely working. It might just be the sizing I have though , could also be some issue with the transport. but I also bought a bunch of colored copic pens from japan itself, and they either broke or dried after one use if at all, and it makes me so upset. I won't be buying any copic pens anytime soon thats for sure, and if I will , it'll only be in black. have you heard of touch markers? there are a lot of fakes out there that are cheap but real touch markers come in 2 types, black which is a bullet nib and white which has a brush nib, the brush nib was designed to mimic copic. so its a korean version of copics and can be good, though it has its own faults too. worths a try I say. -sorry for the long message I think its important to state real opinions without bias especially for younger people that are interested in something way too glorified.
@@lela.the.artist YW! I haven't been able to find the right copic colors for her yet but the ones you used look pretty great! Which color numbers are they? This video should really get more views.
I got a set of ohuhu markers and I enjoy them quite a bit. Yes, I do prefer copic markers, BUT, I think Ohuhu match up pretty well other than the fact that they don't have brush tips
That's awesome that you have both. I really enjoy both of them myself. Ohuhu is also coming out with brush nibs in the spring or summer of this year. That should be interesting to see. Thanks so much for watching! =)
@@lela.the.artist I really enjoyed the video, both sides came out great and I think you are really great at using these markers. I don't have great control over these things. Colors chosen are really petty too! I'm currently drawing a koi and lotus right now. My uncle wants me to learn the airbrush so I can paint benches that he sells. Need ideas
I like how you said that markers don't make the artist. I think alot of people forget that. I have all kinds of supplies and sometimes just use sharpies to colour in simple drawings😂
I saw this video on my feed and since I recently got Copics I clicked. I was so surprised when I saw your subscriber numbers. Your art is amazing and your voiceovers are really interesting! Obviously I subscribed because you deserve it. Keep making great content!
Even though the colors are split down the middle it is such a beautiful piece and I would be one of those people that would be like "totally intentional" when someone asks why it looks the way it does. So pretty!
Ive heard great things about Winsor and Newton markers. I even saw a video on how well they works I'd love to get my hands on those. Thanks for watching! =)
Oh and I couldn’t be more jealous at how good you color with markers which I know I say always but what you do with Ohuhus make me hate myself lol. Love this
Ohuhu are really nice and really cheap. The only downside is that they don't have a brush tip. It's like a hard brush tip. It's also a double sided. One side, similar to the brush, and the other, a chisel tip. I recommend these, and if you buy some, have fun and good luck!!
Lovely work!! I love somebody who stans chisel nibs because it is way underrated imo! All your Ohuhu videos have been super informative to me and I thank you for that. You made one comment here about how you feel Copics & Ohuhu would work well in a piece tgt. Maybe make a video about that one day? ;)) I'm missing a few colours in my Ohuhus and am planning to buy individual Copics to make up for it. Ergo, it would be nice to see how you utilise the brush, bullet & chisel nibs~ Keep it up!
I agree! I'm hoping to inspire more artists to use them because I used to hate them too until I just kept working with them. And I'm glad my videos have helped. I definitely am thinking about doing a video combining the two seamlessly for exactly the reason you explained. I feel people tend to buy a set of Ohuhu just to have color variety at a lesser price, but buy individual Copics to make up for any color the don't have. Thanks for watching! =)
For some reason I just like watching random videos of people drawing cuz I just find it so satisfying... But this is such a great explanation or like comparison of these markers I rlly like how she turned out
Wow!!! I loved seeing you color this!! I am grateful for all of the advice you gave. I will definitely be looking into both types of markers and will be watching other videos you made, to see what newer markers you recommend. I started using gel pens and adult coloring books as part of my therapy during rehab last year, and I got away from it for awhile. I think seeing your videos was a sign that I need to get back into it. It was good for my soul and I desperately need to heal it 💔. Thank you again for the inspiration!!
I'm glad this was in my recommended! Gaia AND Kasey Golden? Subscribeedddd~ I've been wanting to try out ohuhu markers for a while now after watching drawingwiffwaffles talk about them, and I'm so excited to hear they're going to be coming out with brush nibs! Your line work here is so smooth and perfect! That's what I like to see~ You did a really great job on this one, and watching the coloring bit was really nice and kind of relaxing too haha
Lol sorry about that. Thumbnail is opposite due to the fact that I couldn't flip product images since the product names would have appeared backwards. I could have switched in general, but it wasn't looking right. I also tried flipping my art, but she didn't look as good as she did in her original way. So in the end I kept the thumbnail as is since the biggest idea I wanted to get across was the products and the art I did. Sorry for the confusion. And thanks for watching =)
I love the picture! I always learn so much from your videos even just by watching how you color your pictures and the techniques you use! also, I can't wait until Ohuhu release their brush nib markers!!!
I agree! The chisel tip is great if you use it right. Some people think your can't get a smooth look but I use the chisel chip so much more than the nib and I've gotten GREAT blends with my Ohuhu markers that pop and look smooth. It took some experimenting but it turned out great.
Yay! Fellow chisel tip artist! lol and yes, blends are so much better with chisel tip. And it took me a bit to figure that out too. Thanks for watching! =)
My question is how you don't have many subs. I just found this channel and your style is gorgeous! This videos are so helpful, more people need to check you out.
So I use two different markers. The Sakura Pigma Micron pens, and the Copic Multiliner. But you have to let the ink dry for a good hour or so I've found. Otherwise you'll get some smudging if you don't. I also enjoy drawing my lineart digitally in Paint Tool SAI and then printing it out on marker paper. I find that printer ink doesn't smudge either.
The only thing I pay out a lot of money for is my paper. I can work with even the cheapest of mediums but I need the paper to do it. If its not the right texture I struggle to create something I enjoy. I think everyone has that art supply they need but the rest it doesn't matter at all.
I definitely agree with this. I'm still experimenting on different types of marker paper though. I've tried Strathmore and X-press It so far and I like both. Thanks for watching! =)
I feel like, the both are great, it’s like you said it’s with the artist skill as well, for example, for Christmas of 2018 my parents got me a artist loft version of copics,(seeing if I’d really like copics/ohuhu)and I loved/love them, but I always watched artist with ohuhu or copics and I felt the markers sucked, but they didn’t! And they sadly don’t have a refill and run out VERY quickly, I still have them just most of the pack I got are out and I try and use them
The hair came out really nice! Lol im one of those artists that are afraid of the Chisel Tip. I can never control it, so I just always use the bullet nib.
Thanks! And that's okay! I was super unsure of chisel tips too not too long ago, but I ended up practicing with them more and found different ways to use them and after a bit I found I really enjoyed them. Thanks for watching!!
Okay copics might be expensive. But overtime they'll actually help you out a lot. Since you can just buy refills and u can refill 1 marker about 10 times(depends on which copic marker it) instead of having to buy the marker again and again. I also think that they feel way smoother than any other markers I tried, and smell the nicest too.
Hello there! Just stumbled upon your channel and you're awesome. So you have gained +1 new subscriber +5 experience points +10 magic points (coloring skills).
A really enjoyable video - so soothing to watch you colouring so beautifully. I am definitely going to go for the Ohuhu's because I feel sick at the cost of the Copics... I can always upgrade if I can afford it later. Thank you for sharing your points, it was a really balanced review.
It’s so beautiful I just got the Copic ciao 72 set A from my mom on Christmas and I have used Ohuhu markers before 80 set and to be honest I see no difference in both the copies and Ohuhu besides the brush bib I don’t really use the brush because I always end up with mistakes lol but you draw and color so well patience is key and I have no patience lol. Another thing I be so uncomfortable coloring in non-human skin because I feel so awkward. P.S Love the drawing overall
I thought I was the only one who had trouble with the brush nib too sometimes! After practicing a bit though I can handle it a little better, but I do still end up with mistakes here and there. But thank you so much for watching! =)
i think the problem with this comparison is that you have more ohuhu than copic, so it still isn’t 100% fair. because theres a lot of copic colors you could match the ohuhus with, or that you could blend with, if that makes sense.
Perhaps? I chose the Copic colors first, before I chose the Ohuhu's in order to have the Ohuhu's match the Copics rather than the other way around. But thanks for watching! =)
The Ohuhu side does look great but I really like the flat even color you were able to get with the copics. I feel like the shirt is a really good example of that, but like you said each has their advantages and disadvantages.
Thanks for the comparing review!!! I never knew that Ohuhu markers are sooo good and cheaper than others! I already bought copic markers but haven't used that much because I'm a beginner..:( i'm gonna practice blending and coloring with ohuhu markers! Thanks again😍😚💖
Yes! I highly recommend using Ohuhu as good starter markers. I started my marker journey with Copics because I had no idea they were other brands out there for cheaper. A lot of expensive ink was wasted sadly, lol. But honestly even now I use my Ohuhu's a lot.
I’m getting Copic markers soon so this was a great video to compare the markers and the info with both thank you so much it helped a lot and I’m getting brush tips. Love ❤️ the vids
If you ever do another round of comparisons use the copic apps camera after putting down a few colors of Ohuhu and try to find a color match. That way you can find a closer comparison and buy the copics that are closer to the Ohuhu markers. Oh and you could make it a 3 marker challenge to save money ;)
I love art so much (and I’m pretty good at it), but I don’t enjoy doing it as much because i don’t have the supplies I need to colour it in and stuff ☹️ I’ve tried buying the Ohuhu markers but they are super expensive in my country which is Australia, and I can’t find any sites that do sell them that aren’t expensive. It’s quite upsetting really 😪 but your art is so amazingly good! And it’s awesome when you use supplies that are affordable, showing us that it’s about the “artist not the supplies” 😊
Aww, I'm sorry that the Ohuhu's are so expensive in Australia! I hope you come across something more affordable for you! Thank you and thanks for watching!! =)
I’m 13 and l have like 250 copics (ciaos sketches and single copics) and l really mastered them you learn how to make that vibrancy w/ copics if u use them for so long( I got my first copic at 9 so l am using them for 4 years) l also have ohuhu’s and ohuhus quality always impresses me even tho they are so affordable the quality is just A M A Z I N G.... my main style is actually watercolors and if u use watercolors you actually learn how to blend correctly so markers became so easy to you..... Basically Guys l actually recommend Ohuhus they are affordable and great quality But if u have some money to spend buy copics they are just just....unreal
This... is... AMAZING! (This is Marinity, by the way!) Not only was it super cool to see you work on Mel again, it was super fun to watch your process and to see how different each side came out color-wise, while somehow still working together so beautifully! I don't know jack about traditional media these days, but I know that the final product looks gorgeous! Thank you for using her for this video! It made my heart swell hearing you talk about her a bit and how you enjoyed her! ; w; (Also you were close, she's a Nightborne, and her name is pronounced a bit more like Mel-uh-row, but Mel-uh-roo works too!) Also, if you happened to take a picture of the finished copy, I'd love to have it if you ever have the free time! ; w;
Oh wow! I'm so glad you watched it!! And dang, I was so sure she was a night elf! Lol, thanks for letting me know. And yes, I'll definitely try my best to get a picture to you soon! =)
@@lela.the.artist You were close! Nightborne are basically night elves/used to be night elves, so they're VERY similar! The only real difference is their skin/eye colors and Nightborne are a big lankier. And eeiii I'd love that so much! Thank you!! ♥
I use a combination on Touch5 markers and Ohuhu and I love them! I did have to buy a few packs of each (including skintones) to get the set I like but it was still wayyy cheaper than Coptic.
Ooo! I've been wanting to try Touch5 markers for awhile! I'm interested in how they compare. I've heard good things about them too! Thanks for watching! =)
Hey! nice video :)Im new to markers and art and wondered what marker did you use to make the white highlight on the hair? Ive got colorless blender in my current Chameleon marker-kit wich Im replacing with Copic. The blender that is in my kit doesnt give me the detailed resault that you get with the pen you use :) Any name or suggestion to what I can buy/use?
Thank you for saying that the chisel tip side is our friend! Because it really is! Lol. I'm so tired of people saying that it's useless when in reality it helps more than people think. I'm subscribing now haha. (Not sure if I spelled that right😂)
Ohuhu is seriously coming out with a 120 set in February? Where was this known? I can't find it anywhere! I wanna make sure since i'm waiting for the 100 set to be restocked but if they come out with a 120 set in February i will totally wait for those if it's real!
It hasn't been officially confirmed (hence my slight hesitation when I mentioned it) but I'd say, keep an eye out on them in mid February (possibly March?) =)
I’m 11 and have a good color selection of copic ciao:) and I have 2 copic sketches. If I’m being honest, I like the ciao’s brush nib better. With the sketch the brush nib is too flimsy:/ this is me just being really picky tho 😂😂 I still love all the copics I have! I’m so grateful for them, and I use them all the freaking time !!
I like to copic's ALOT MORE. it's much more saturated and it blends better for me. I got the 32 set for christmas and i also have ohuhus and i love using both! i just love the copics more because obviously. The ohuhus are an AMAZING beginner alternative to copics though. 👍
I had a hard time choosing at the start, but upon completion, Ohuhu looks a bit washed out. Although, even with the Copics having a more painting-like quality, I bet you're right about mixing both markers. It would've given a nice tonality to the whole piece. I was loving the Ohuhu bright skin at first, but then once you laid down the Copic skin, that side felt more like something you'd see in an art gallery. The excessive brightness of the right is giving me "teenager's coloring book" vibe. Not that it's a bad thing, I'm just now more into jewel tones, instead of saturated neons & bright pastels. Tbh I'm a girl so I'll forever love bright colors lol, but sometimes too much eye stimulation can be distracting. I prefer the tonal values of the left piece, they give more depth -- like what her real skin would look like if she was a 3D animation.
Im Mexican my dad once traveled to USA for work purposes and he bought me a few copic markers they are good and all but when you paint with them, the copics ruin black ink, I use Sharpie to draw the outline sometimes more professional markers, so my question is.. what markers are good to draw the outline if I use copics? Or do I simply let the sharpie dry? 🤔 Hope my explanation was clear lol ‘^’
I think that they are an amazing combo because the darker side makes it seems like that it is like a shadow dose that make sense? I hope it dose good job I love it!!!
Ugh I wish I had waited to get the Ohuhu’s now. I just ordered some a week ago and they’re almost here! (eBay) but you know, I don’t know if I like them yet so I can wait!!!
hey, I loved this video, it shows how u can still make great artwork but with way less money. Your a great artist and I always enjoy listening to your opinions and thoughts. I was wondering if you can do a comparison video about ohuhu markers and touch 5 markers because I’ve heard a lot of different stuff about them. Some say there really good but where as others say there really streaky and dry. It would be awesome if you compared them with ohuhu markers because both brands are almost the same price. Have a great day, and keep up the great content.✨
Hey, thanks! And that's interesting. I've mostly heard good things about them, but I definitely want to do more comparison reviews. I'll look into those markers more and see about doing a future video with them. Thanks for watching! =)
My problem with the chisel tip is that it is way too big for the scale and amount of details in my drawings. To be honest I even find bullet nibs too big sometimes (like for thin strands of hair). I do agree though that it is possible to blend with bullet nib markers just fine ! You just need close colors and some work. What bother me with Ohuhu though is that they are not reffilable nor available open stock. Which for me makes them horrible long term. But I understand that not eveeyone is looking for long term solution and that Ohuhu are a good way to step into the alcohol marker world without breaking the bank ! But as someone who has been working with copics for 8 years I cannot imagine buying non reffilable markers (beside being economical in the long term it's very handy when in the middle of your coloring one marker become dry you can instantly refill it ! ) Also I confirm that Copic Can be either very saturated or dull, but because they have so much more desaturated colors compared to other brands (because of their color selection)often in direct comparaison like that they seem dull. Anyway very beautiful drawings !!! I love the hair and eyes !
