🇬🇧 Gabi developed this "Oil and water " routine after a Chinese magician (Lao), who visited Barcelona, showed him a variant, in which he eliminated cards in each phase. Because he didn’t tell him the method and Gabi couldn’t remember accurately the details of the routine, he developed his own version, which he later would publish in his lecture notes "Encuentros y desencuentros." The sequence is delicious and like all of Gabi's magic, a lesson in economy and clarity. Regarding the presentation of the routine, we can say that with the patter, Gabi generates what is known as a "running gag", playing a "magic self" who does not quite understand what is happening, which is why he is eliminating cards, while seeking the advice and agreement of the audience. This video is an excerpt from the lecture that Gabi gave at the Magialdia festival (Vitoria) in 2016.
