I just switched over to oil base and I found it much more affective for me having very thick hair

I just started oil based within the last 8 months. Man I'm such a huge fan of oil now. I am in the army and required to wear head gear so that is why I use mostly water based. However once I'm out of the Army I plan on using oil all of the time. It feels so good and I feel like my hair grows faster and just feels healthier. If your looking into oil you cannot go wrong with Goon or Gents Grease from Lockharts or Nostalgic Handmade. Oil based is so good

Taking on and off my head gear is where I’m trying to figure out the right product for me. I’ve used suavecito firme for years but I feel like I’m losing too much hair. What do you suggest?

I saw people go as far as saying they'd prefer to put petroleum jelly (Vaseline) in their hair rather than water based. Quite ridiculous lol.

I work in a Prison Shop, an Vaseline is one of the most commonly purchased items. And not for the reason you might think... inmates use it to style their hair.

I just feel that a lot of water based are glorified gel... There are some that stick out as good water based, but for the most part it's gel. Uppercut deluxe and o'douds are two WB that I like that come to mind... Other then that give me grease...

I honestly don't give a shit if water solubule pomade isn't real pomade. I want to be able to wash that shit out of my hair everyday. I also don't want to comb my fucking hair away. I just want good looking hair, thats all that matters. Oil based pomades aren't even real pomades anyways, real pomade was orignally made with apples. Seriously its a "To Each His Own"
@deannorris9793
@deannorris9793 8 лет назад
I have a question, which I'd be grateful if you or anyone would answer. If I use an oil based pomade for one or two days and I don't wash it out entirely, can I add water based pomades the following days? Was wondering whether the water based pomades would still work as build up on top of the oil based pomade? Also can you mix water and oil based pomades together at the same time? I'm only washing my hair once to twice a week, so was wondering whether I can alternate.

What would anyone recommend for pomade that doesnt dry that's almost like an oil based but is actually water based? And if not what's a good hybrid product?
@KonstantinZander
@KonstantinZander 7 лет назад
Okay I am doing something wrong... Even after 7 hair washes, I have the same build up that I had on day one! URGH! Olive oil works to get it out but what on earth am I doing wrong???

I love oil based but my hair falls apart after its been combed 30 mins later and i hate constantly recombing. Of course i don't get that from water based it holds solid but no shine you would get and oil based.
@sensoeirensen
@sensoeirensen 6 лет назад
"waterbased pomades" is pure marketing bs - it's a gel-type product. I tried a lot of them, they're all sh** against real (oilbased) pomades.

@jorgemendez4517
@jorgemendez4517 9 лет назад
Which one provides a harder hold?. I have problems will suavecito (firme). Even if I straighten my hair it ALWAYS end up curling, sooner or later, no matter what. Being more specific im talking about the "end" of my cowlick. I want a straight one, not a curved one. Sorry for my English. I hope i explained myself good enough to be understood.
@stevenchu4765
@stevenchu4765 8 лет назад
+Jorge Mendez well, suavecito firme is already one of the hardest holding products on the market. I think it's the strongest gel pomade. But there are always others you can try. Grim Grease Water Based Heavy is the strongest unorthodox waterbased(it won't harden up like suavecito). Lockhart's Heavy and Tremolo's Ace's High are the strongest wax/oil based pomades.
@usernotfriendly
@usernotfriendly 8 лет назад
+Jorge Mendez I concur. You shoud try water-based Grim Grease heavy hold. It's water based, but still greasy and don't wash easily. I've used oil-based all my life prior to that and often had the same problem as you. Grim is the best I've found so far and my hair's easy to reshape during the day if I need to.

using black&white pomade these days. it really doesnt give a good hold. its ok, but i still have a lot of hair standing up and rebelling and i need to comb through my hair every 5 or 10 minutes because the hair is out of shape. also i want "flat" hair, but the pomade automatically gives me some kind of pomp, which i dont want. i do have really thick hair though. will water-based pomades have a better hold, like classic gel? in other words: i think i'm looking for a products with a consistency and styleability of a gel, but gives the look of a oilbased pomade. local stores here have soho and vo5

Cleared a lot up! I was wondering though, what specific ingredients can you look at to tell whether it's water based or oil based? Just so you can quickly look at the products ingredients and gauge whether you'd like to buy it or not.

I've got really thick, heavy hair. I use Uppercut Deluxe because it holds my hair in place for the whole day/night and I don't have to re-shape it. But I'd like to use a product that doesn't go super hard. Can anybody tell me a good product that will hold my hair in place but I can still run my hands through?

Not to shade on your video's, but not everything is water-soluble. Oil for example is not water-soluble, because water is a polar molecule, which oil is not. Therefore they cannot form interactions, thus not solute in eachother.

Here's 2 good non retarded questions. 1. People say you need to warm up the pomade between your hands (water based). Other than spreading it evenly on your hands, does that do anything to the pomade to make it grip better to your hair? Is a 4oz jar of pomade 4 ounces of actual pomade or is that the weight of the pomade and container combined?
