ALERT! If you have the Volvo XC90 T6 engine, are any other Volvo T6 engines that are 2016 or newer, you must use Castrol OW20 full synthetic using the 10,000 or 20,000 oil. The owner's manual does state this and it also says do not go longer than 10,000 mi in between oil changes! I only go to 7500 miles in between oil changes with my 2016 Volvo XC90 T6!
ALERT! I can't believe there's over $11,000 views of people seeing you do this oil change wrong on a Volvo XC90 T6. You're not alone cuz I see a lot of people on RU-vid showing the wrong way to do an oil change on this vehicle! First of all you didn't clean out the old oil that was left in the oil filter container. Second, you're supposed to fill the oil filter container up with the new oil with the new oil filter in the container. If you just put a dry filter back onto the car you can almost definitely ruin the oversized turbo! Everything else you did with the oil change was good! This isn't true just on this Volvo, but with other cars as well that have turbos!

That extra small o-ring is for the oil drain plug on the oil filter cap/housing. The filter should have its own small o-ring install on the smaller inlet from the factory. BTW, thanks for the video, it was helpful.
Absolutely right, I did my second oil change on it. I did replace the o ring from the housing case. Also I used “liqui molly” which is recommended for this car. The package comes with all the necessary parts to do the oil change.
I did little research on the oil. It’s specifically don’t tells, which brand to use. Just the grade you have to follow!!! For Next oil change I got the whole kit liqui moly oil, Just for peace of Mind!!!

** Public Service Announcement ! ** It appears that Volvo has switched their oil specification for the 2.0L 4 cylinder models. Please call your local dealers and find out more info. It appears that all 2.0L 4 cylinder models should now be using 0W-20 for ALL driving conditions. The 5-6 cylinder engines are to use 5W-30. the change has to do with engine wear now that they have some years of real world data. ** Public Service Announcement ! **
