In this video we were fighting with a problem we've had for some time. The oil always gets rather warm and causes us to sometimes have to stay grounded. We changed the oil and started hunting on the issue hoping to find something and boy did we.

Screens out on the front may be a great idea. That was really cool to hear little man on frequency getting him some stick time. My father is still talking about his ride in your Lockheed 😁 It was really appreciated you taking the time to share your aircraft and fuel to make memories for others.

Apparently keeping those coolers clean will work. Screens for the cooler intakes.

Like your pre flight routine. Next time throw her around a bit for the Italy tune up!

Maybe some type of custom bent vacuum hose to regularly clean coolers if screen is an issue.

You know, I didn’t think about it but I have a vacuum with a smaller hose, I might try tomorrow and see if it will fit up in there just as a preflight or once a month process. Great idea.

Try a borescope in the scoop and a vacuum if needed.

Nice trouble shooting, can you reach inside duct to oil cooler face n feel for debris ? Beautiful acft.

The screens might still get full of debris but at least it would be so much easier to clean them off each time and that would become part of your preflight inspection as well. Could it be that the direction of prop rotation could cause one side to gather more grass than the other side? Just a thought.

I thought about that but it appears they were both pretty clogged up. The left was worse than the right so it is still possible but don’t think it amounts to enough difference to matter.
