Hi, I have the same leak between the gearbox & transfer box after just having the clutch replaced... Did you manage to fix it at all and have a link to the video or some advice please?
I’ve not fixed it but the leak seems to have slowed down and self-sealed itself. If I were you I’d try to identify which oil it is. I used oil paint for this, as in this video. If it is the transfer box then it is easier to deal with…still a major job, but easier than the gearbox!
Did you find the cause and cure of the gearbox oil leak? . i have a similar problem that only appeared after changing the manual gearbox oil . Thanks for the great work on your channel
Thanks Ian. I’ve not cured it no, it still leaks a bit, but only when full right to the brim. Sounds similar to your issue. I think the seal between gearbox and PTU housings was disturbed during my clutch change and now leaks slightly. I used coloured oil paint to identify which oil was leaking and it is definitely the gearbox. PTU is fine. At some point I’ll replace the PTU so will inspect and renew the seals on the gearbox face.
Mine leaks from the same area, convinced its the rear crankshaft oil seal, i changed it myself with a new one and it done the same again, i since been told i should have replace the plastic ventilation part on top of the engine as this part causes excess oil pressure blowing seals on the engine when it fails.
Nothing dripping out of the clutch housing and seal was renewed 3k miles ago, so thankfully it isn’t the crank seal on mine. I’m thinking it is the seal between gearbox and PTU.
Hi there. I have been following your vids bud, nice mods on the fl2. Quick question. How is the engine holding up after the remap you had done? Cheers pal.
I could have done that yes, but transfer box has the strange “brim and remove 120ml” thing and I was not sure if it had gone down through leaking or because it wasn’t full in the first place. The weird thing was the gearbox was already full yet appeared to be the one leaking. Colouring the oils was a sure fire way to clearly see which oil was leaking out.
