I wish I could do the initial block in in 30 min. I still struggle and take more than 1 h , sometimes 1.5h until I get the correct likeness and shadow blaocking :(
I love Mr. Gain's technique and palette, but I thought he lost the basics on this one. The face is too long and not wide enough. The eyes are on an upward slope rather than facing down. The mouth is too open. This is just my opinion; I still am a big fan.
@@sergiodefreitas6597 Critical? Anyone who can draw and paint can clearly see the eye needs to be re-massed and drawn more accurately. You puerile students need to get a backbone.
You don’t understand good artistic portraiture , it’s not about being 100% realistic. He got the facial structure almost right only with his brush, if he had done a preparatory drawing and transferring the drawing on the canvas he would have been proportionally perfect compared to the picture. He’s obviously very skilled in drawing to get it almost the same has the model the first time with only paint and brush and no transfer drawing.
