One minute video of a toilet roll value exercise :)
This exercise uses the Munsell value scale to decide on the light and shadow values for the three local values that the stripes on the toilet roll are painted in.
(It doesn't actually have to be a toilet roll, any cylinder you can paint on will do.)
I primed the toilet roll first with gesso primer, mixed the local values to exact Munsell values 7, 5 and 3 and then painted on the stripes. Light and shadow values for each of those were chosen and then the study was painted.
What this teaches you is how the light and shadow values differ for different local values. Plus, it's a great way to use up old toilet rolls!
