Orapin 4...the oil Tanker was drifted during January 2014 in Thailand. Salvage Operation carried out after a month later and it took about 2 weeks to finally taken back to sea. Email: tjalex4life@gmail.com
Thank you.. The who process took 2 weeks. Many fail attempt and the heat the bad weather and days of frustration during shooting. Never was easy. But this was the only footage available. Tks for cheering.
Sincerely... it took more than 3 weeks.. many workers even sleep at the beach area. BUt none died.. It was a hard work.. Thanks for the comment. It is very important for all. see you again.
You realise this was the tanker that was hijacked right? I think it has more to do with the fact that the Thia owned tanker was like a reminder to a proud Thia bussiness. The Thia people are a very proud and respectful race much like the Japanese really in their life. They are a very different culture to their other Southeast Asian neighbours Vietnam on the one side and Burma the other!!
Absolutely amazing they got it done! When I saw them start with these oversized garden diggers, it became interesting. No tug to pull it afloat, no sand pumps... Amazing. I only hope nobody got killed... If so, good job but a lucky strike. It was very dangerous; guys standing by that rusty anchor chain being lifted and put under tension... Guys walking around the wreckage by incoming and outgoing tide and not being sucked underneath... Scary stuff..
You are correct. It was restricted area. But people just ignore it. The risk was there every minutes being sucked by sinking sand. hide tide and falling debris even iron steel from the ship. but people did not bother much. they ship engineers even put up some fence but i did not put the videos since it will consume more time and editing. no one was killed but some hide tide incident that nealry washed away those tent and so on. but overall it was a scary operation during the tractor digging the sand to allow more sea water to circle the ship. thanks..
Yes. I agree as I saw some videos about Dutch and ships. In Thailand.. may be the budget was less. It took about 3 weeks to drag this ship. It was done at night during high tide.
I think.. with limited budget.. they have done well. it took more than 2 weeks. Finally they managed to pull at night after 9pm during high tide.. i was unable to make the video it was too dark..
It was never a easy smooth process from the begining. infact you will never see in other videos..such a complete picture of its kind..from the first day till it was pulled and kept in right direction and waited for the right time..they finally decided to pull at about 8pm..to me.. i did my best...the ship was moving inches by inches in every hours...no one can keep taking pictures daily...for 8 hours...so, i have to edit..just to show..how they done..thanks..
Thank you very much for this video Alec. You took some time and made a nice video that shows nicely what happened. I did a similar video in 2011 about the MT Phoenix tanker which was refloated. Took two months. I also edited it and put a narrative to it to describe it in some detail. It is worth it and makes it something we can be proud of. Well done!!!
Christiaan Kleynhans hi.. thanks and I will watch your work too. Yes, this video took nearly 3 weeks. Horrible time I spent. They finally pulled the ship at about 9pm. I could not video that. Too dark.. hummm.
Alex forever so I take it that they swung the bow around to shove it forward out to deep water. Did they pull the tanker with cables from the big barge ? Did the 3 excavator actually help to slide the tanker over the samd.
Yeah... In Asia.. many companies dont bother much... It is a sad thing but nothing we can do.. Thanks for the comment. see you again in my other videos for a comment.
After this nightmare.. This very same ship was hijacked few months later by pirates.. than i dont know the next news of it. may be.. they already sole it.
This ship was robbed at Malaysian sea by pirates later. I don't know what happen now. It been sold or went for scrap. Sad for this ship fate. Thanks for your comment .
Some engineers with sailors managed to drag back an huge oil tanker back to the sea. It took almost 3 weeks. This ship was ran aground during heavy storm. Thanks for watching.
THE CRICKET LEGEND I agree with you but the insurance covered less and I am sure lack of budget. This took nearly 3 weeks. Because the sand that they was removing washed back daily. Hunmmmm.
In Asian countries..the poor workers are not respected. Poor people are not respected too. That is why no Safety for the workers but only for the rich. hmmm..Thanks.
+fandi gladion the problem with those rich and those in power is.. There forgot how poor they was before coming to the position they have now. It is like. The same poor man who talk about gods will change his attitude when he get money and status but when the money and status no more with him. He will talk about gods again. Humans are horrible creatures actually. Thanks
Yes!!! Limited budget.. Was the reason for the poor safety standard and the delays. In the beginning even some people did not liked me taking videos too. I was not be able to freely shoot. Only later part some of them became friends. If not I may did even better. The last day.. They pulled the ship at 9pm at night. I was informed late. That clip wasted.. Very sad. But it was too dark there.. Thanks.
The budget and the technology was bit limited that is why they may have no other choices. Thanks for the comment. I have subscribed to your channel. See you again.
Not about drinking. I am the master on chemical tankers and I often drink on board if the company is not in zero alcohol policy. So, You must know when you drink 😉
Rioh Longcayana yes! It was in Songhkla. I was there for nearly one month just for this video. It took about 3 week to finally pull the ship back. The last day, all of sudden they decided to pull the ship at about 8pm. No way I can go. So, the clip ends at it was.
Rioh Longcayana woooow!!! Have a nice holidays. You should use the cable car to the hill. You can see the view. It's ok. Ask the Tuk tuk driver. They will take you. Very near from beach Samilla where the mermaid is there. Enjoy your stay. Tc
I made the video for everyone thos involve for the memories. After nearly 8 years i am sure many are very old but they still can remember what they was doing. That is nice. Thanks for the comment. salute.
it was never easy from the first day of this video.. its took many weeks to drag it to the sea. this is what i can do..since the weather and the lacking of my free time to go daily...hmmm..but this is once in a life time documentary like..never again will happen the same..thanks.
Alex forever thanks for taking the time to make this video, it’s a darn good account of a job that I never thought that they would be able to do, given the tunage of the tanker and the equipment they had to work with. It’s very impressive to see what can be done when you have limited tools to work with. I’ve been involved with a number of salvage operations and it is so much more work than the armchair experts think it is. Great video 👍🏽
Incredible job well done. no tug for pulling. no ships dregger lovely they were work with good team even with limitation off tool and personal protection equipment, from beginning I have worried it for any incident but look like done according plan. One I miss it I really like to sea when the ship free afloat at sea and how she move it from stranding.
It took more than 2 weeks. it suppose to be within 5 days work. Yes..as you said..limitations of equipment etc and also allocated budget. The last part of this video is the ending part. where they have managed to pulled towards the sea. They was waiting for high tide. The next night at about 8pm onwards..all of sudden they decided to pulled as the sea level rised. That area was very dark and it was near a small jungle and there is no lights at night. My friend called me about 7.30pm that they may pull the ship.. but it was too late. no cars or taxi will go there during after 7pm.. so..it was too dark and even if i went. I wont be able to video..complete darkness and the ship was moving inch by inch for about 3 hours or so...no way..at night i cant do it..thanks..
Great Job, well done to all those that took part. A continual on-shore wind made the job very difficult fighting against the ship but the excavators made it work. More please
It took more then 2 week..the crane that suppose to pull, the cable attached snapped. may be the ship was tooooo heavy for the tug boat to pull. who whole process dragged from days ot 2 weeks..hmmm..those crue was sleeping at the beach too. very hard working...
Thanks.. Actually the top engineers there did not encourage to video it. I think may be they tried to avoid publicity. The weather was bad always. Raining n hot sun. The ship stranded so far from my house. I had to cross into minor jungles to reach this place. Not a safe. Place too. I was doing it without any prior information but lately met friends that willing to help to update me. The process took two weeks with many fail attempts. Dangerous too. The last day you can see it was already on the right direction but I was not informed early that the next night they going to finish it. All of sudden my friend called me at 8.30pm that the sea level is high and they going to pull it that night. But since after 7pm no taxi goes there and I was sad that it was too late night. They pulled the ship that night. Around 9pm. Every minutes few inches it move into sea. Pain to sit and watch. But the last footage shows it was the last position and the night was the time they pulled.
But actually even if I was there at 9pm. I still won't be able to shoot it.. Since my camera are not mend for night vision. Complete darkness. So, my intention was to show to people how this ship was pulled. Thanks for cheering.
pumping water under pressure under the hull would loosen the compacted sand ... for this one needs a horizontal drilling machine, pipes, and a few powerful water pumps or firetrucks
There was many complains too. It took 2 weeks to drag it back to the sea. many failed attempts too. The sand they was digging was not a good idea since the next hour the sea brings back all the sand again to its place. you can see it. This clip was edited to make it fast. But actually 2 weeks i was there from morning till evening. i know the pain and i saw all. Thanks.
