Oil treatment makes the timber frame come alive.
I was waiting for a year to let the ground contact treated wood settle down. I suppose a person could treat with oil sooner. But it made the wood pop and brought out *some of the original luster.
I suppose if I sanded and prepped I could have made the wood treatment look like new. But since I'm using earthbag later, I know the dirt and dust will just cover the wood. So on a final finish, after the adobe stucco, I might return to the idea of sanding the timbers back to a reddish hue and then treating.
My goal here was to prevent capilary action from moving outdoor rain into the conex. The dryer you keep a shipping container the better for health and well-being.
And it absolutely worked.
