Ladies, to save you from falling and clogging your pipes, just keep some good dish detergent (like Dawn which cuts grease) in your shower and squirt some on the bathtub floor (on your bathtub mat) and while you are oil rinsing/washing your hair, the suds from the detergent will cut the oil. Use more detergent as necessary. Works like a charm...been doing this for years. I'm in the U.S.
Hey lovely I'm an Asian. I always take oil bath, once in a week. It is very good for hair regrowth . Use two table spoon of castor oil and two table spoon of carrier oil (I always like to use coconut oil ,you can use olive oil)Leave your oily hair for 30minutes to 1 hour. Then rinse your hair with natural shampoo like thali or sheekakai .itz really really good for you hair and your body. Now my hair is tooo weight can't able to handle this. Hope you understand what I said
Sri varshini I second that!!! My skin looooves it! It makes my hair so healthy, especially following it with natural shampoos ( I love using clays and it defines my curls). Thank you for sharing!
🤣🤣 I swear I have the best subscribers! Don’t you dare fall sis, please wear $1 slippers /beach slippers, I’ve never washed my hair with commercial products without my handy dandy slippers. I CANNOT NOT IMAGINE LIFE WITHOUT SLIPPERS / RUG IN THE BATHROOM OR SHOWER ROOM 🤣
@@aucurlsnaturelle I loved watching your video. I sometimes wash my scalp and hair with warm water only then seal with shea butter. I worry about oil build up in the pipes and drains especially in winter. Do you have any problems with it?
I'm not African but I am Caribbean. My mother did this to our hair as children every week. As an adult I now do it once a month. This is great info. Loved the video 💕☺️👍🏽
La Teish Our mothers (you and I) have been doing this way before they ended up in the Caribbean, DNA 🧬, knowledge and roots never goes away sis, when you look at yourself in the mirror everyday, know that your ancestors put in that WORK in knowledge and science and the whole world is benefiting from it! You are me and I am you! We will keep our ancestral ways alive! Thank you for sharing 😁😁😁😘
@@Ami_Hime for me it definitely helps with my dry scalp and retaining moisture. Definitely give it a try for a few weeks. I really think you'll see and feel a difference.
I liked the first scene of you outside in the sunshine. The garden is a good place to do this oil wash...oil on the carpet, surfaces, down the drain of the shower and sink eventually leads to blockage, not to talk of the mess everywhere. The natural oils will do Mother Earth some good...
I love this video. The music, the vibe... everything. I have come back to watch it again and again to remind me how to do the oil washing technique. I tried it once, and it was awesome. Then I tried other stuff, but I want to try this again. Will do it this weekend! ☺️
Divine is always on time. Thank you beautiful queen for this informative and life changing video. I’ve been wanting to figure out how to care for my hair in times where there may no longer be access to hair products. I wanted to go back to the roots. This video is right on time! You are also so well spoken 💜
olivia fountain I will update you on my site once it goes live, I will post survival videos in different situations so you always remain contained or even your home (sanitation emergency etc) If you are interested, email 📧 so you will be on the first line of notice . Thanks your support 👏🏿😀😀😀
I used to do this when I stopped transitioning and it did wonders for my hair. I haven’t done this in 2 years and I see that my hair doesn’t take the moisture easily and it isn’t as defined anymore. I’m starting with all of the things I did in my first year of my hair journey. Pre pooing with vo5 conditioner and a mix of oils, hot oil treatments, acv rinses, co washing, aloe vera treatments, clay mask treatments, oil rinsing, tea rinsing, sealing my wash and go with a mix of olive oil and jbco oil, oiling my scalp. Moisturizing more frequently. I also take hair supplements like biotin, vitamin E & C, hair skin and nails gummies and pills. I am going to start with amla treatments and I’m going to start making my own hair growth oils.
That sounds good sis I actually make a lot of my own natural hair products. So yeah your hair will love you for going back to what you did in the beginning of your hair journey
Same here!! because my hair has NOT been the same since my 1st big chop from transitioning. And my hair flourished was thicker longer more manageable all of it!! After that i got lazy, used heat more, and stop DC regularly anymore had to big chop 2 more times since then and my hair has been rebellious against me since.
I started my natural hair journey about 13 years ago and you were the natural hair guru I got this technique from. My hair flourished when I would finger detangle my hair with olive oil before shampooing. My lawd I need to get back into my regimen since I big chopped recently.💕
Are you standing on a towel so you don't slip on the oil? 😳 I'm scared I might fall in the shower and hurt myself! Your hair looks very healthy as usual though!
MrsInterestedOne I wear slippers in the bathtub 🤣🤣 and my shower rug is always on the shower/bath floor floor, does your shower have a rug? Do you have slippers ? 😊
Cynthia O lol i have not washed my hair standing without slippers/rug/floor mat unless I’m using aloe Vera mainly. Most commercial conditioners are very slippery for me so I need slippers, or a chair 🪑 😂😂😂😂
It was the first time I saw someone wash the hair with oil! And I've been watching a lot of videos about hair routine for curly hair. I loved! I've been feeling good using olive oil and I plan to try this method. 🥰
Thank you for uploading this video, I tried this method today and my hair is already so soft! my scalp isn’t as itchy as it usually is after washing 💜 as well. I’m definitely gonna add this to my regimen , hopefully i dont mess up my pillow case tonight 😅
@@daniellecmann lmaooo I recently stopped doing this due to laziness and then it turned into me trying the NO OIL NO BUTTER TREND. And my hair has been breaking off tremendously. I’m going back to this method ASAP .
@@KayBrittany thx for the update. The No butter no oil method is crazy to me. Our ancestors used oils for everything. Our hair is strengthened with lipids so it just makes no sense!
Yes i absolutely love oil in my hair. I usually prepping with coconut oil or olive oil and it melts my tangles so well. So you don’t use any conditioner or shampoo or DC at all? Oil has definitely helped my hair shine. This makes total since why it works, it’s like oil pulling to whiten your teeth in a sense
I'm so glad you mentioned oil pulling. I was thinking, "How can this work?" then when you mentioned that I remembered how well oil pulling works for the teeth. This whole method makes way more sense to me now. 😂
Empress Charleanna Lyn'nae Yes ma’am. The African science behind oil is so extensive and rich! The detox effect, to washing teeth squeaky CLEAN, to the laxative effect, to anti-clogging pores effect, the list goes on....
I saw in your description that you speak 13 languages!!! That seems almost impossible. Are you self taught? I love language but I have a hard time grasping languages. Your have such a beautiful face by the way. 😍
Criss O Thank you 🙏🏿 😀 i can honestly say all these languages are mainly African languages from north-west africa and Southern Africa so that means they are all pretty similar (for example sotho and tswana or Malinké (dju-la) and Soninke or Manding. Zulu and Tsonga... hope that makes sense? I grew up in those two regions of Africa so picking up languages is what the typical African kid does in new environments so many languages in one continent not shocking at all to find multilingual Africans in Africa
Fanta Diop Thanks for explaining. The languages are mutually intelligible, so they’re similar enough that speakers are able to understand each other. Side note: I’ve been trying to learn French for almost 6 years now.. lol. I guess that’s why I’m so fascinated by polyglots. Learning a language (especially at an older age), is not easy at all.
Criss O As an adult, i Forget basic things too and the only way to keep it in my mind is speaking, listening to radio/tv shows on RU-vid or African cable/subscriptions and I make sure to watch and listen to things of my interest, otherwise it doesn’t sink in lol so make sure the content is the exact type that you would watch/listen to in English but instead it will be in French 😁😁😁it truly helps speed up the learning curve
This is this first time I’ve heard of this method or seen your channel . I am amazed, your hair looks beautiful. I am excited and can’t wait to try this on my hair.
LOVE IT!!! Also your hair is luscious... please ma, I would like to request a video about African jewelry and their different meanings and styles... and what traditional jewelry styles African groups (of the languages you speak in the intro) have..
Thanks! I never heard of this before and just thinking about the "science" behind moisturizing drier textured hair makes me wonder why I never thought of it before. It makes sense when you think about it. Definitely will try.
Wow I can't believe this is a thing! I oil cleanse my face and the thought just pop in my head out of the blue ..."I wonder if I can oil cleanse my hair?" and sure enough I found your video. Must be my African instincts kicking in lol
I know you posted this three years ago but I just started doing this again and came across oil washing by a mistake. I would use oil to increase my sebum production to coat all of my hair strands and eventually get full sebum coverage. Thanks for the additional background information on this method. God Bless.
O M G. SERIOUSLY????? Thank you ssssoooooo much. I need to hear this. I’m a mixed girl with white blood and African blood and my hair NNNOOOO ONE CAN figure out why so dry. I ALWAYS felt my hair was always craving oil but I was always pulled in by white hair products. Thank God you made this video. Thank you gorgeous. I appreciate. My hair was STARVED but now NO MORE
Ok, guys I tried it, tripped up, fell in the shower, and passed out with my buttocks to the heavens 🤦🏿♂️. My brothers had to call an ambulance. It's 3 days later and I just woke up at the hospital. Don't try this at home! 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀😂😂😂😂😂😂 Just kidding y'all!!!!
Sava you just joking? How you scare me like this 🤣🤣🤣 I swear I have the best subscribers! yakooooo!!!! Get well soon, and for everyone else who don’t want to end up like Sava, please have a shower rug or bath rug or wear slippers, I CANNOT IMAGINE bathing/shower daily WITHOUT A RUG, floor mat or my $1 shower slippers (when they are damaged I get another pair) , since childhood. Or use a chair and sit while you oil wash? 😊😊 . . . 🤣🤣🤣🤣why joke like this though? I swear I got the most unique subscribers with a unique sense of humor ! I was cringing reading some of ya’llzzzz comments 😂😂😂😭😭🤣🤣 like I CANNOT NOT IMAGINE LIFE WITHOUT SLIPPERS IN THE BATHROOM OR SHOWER ROOM 🤣
Sava well, if you stay by your drain the whole time it should be an easy process but not sure if walking around the house while your hair has all of not a good idea, best to stay in one place.
Funny... I am about to embark on a bit of a Beard Oil journey... I have 20 different beard oil scents that I'll be trying a different scent out daily to see which ones I like most. First video drops today!
This makes sense bc oil attracts oil/dirt ... water does not ... I oil cleanse my face all the time ... when you find the right oil for your skin blackheads and whiteheads will pop out of your pores ... soooo oil cleansing hair is not far fetched
@@aucurlsnaturelle Just did my oil wash last night. My hair is very soft and moisturized. I will add this in monthly. How often do you do oil washing? Also do you shampoo after oil washing over time?
ANGIE DEE HILL I don’t need an actual commercial shampoo(but if that’s your only option then sure) just to have clean hair, check out the other video on my channel called African hair Routine, I use that to clarify my hair
I've seen a lot of ladies with beautiful hair but seeing you part your hair and run your fingers through it. The elasticity, the shine! It's like non other that I've seen. Beautiful! I will be trying this!
I finally tried it. I thought it went well. It didn't take as long as I only did it 2 times. I did a prepoo the day before with coconut oil. So, I detnagled, then shampooed with peppermint oil shampoo then began the oil rinse. I also applied a conditioner at the end that I had to rinse out. I didn't pay attention to the type. Next time, I will do it with a leave in conditioner. Overall it was successful. My hair is still wet, but my curls are definitely more defined. My hair is also softer so far. It's still wet so we will see. Your hair is beautiful. Ihave a few questions. What is your hair type? Do you ever use shampoo to cleanse your hair? Do you have a buildup? Lastly at the end, do you recommend sealing your hair with cold water? Thanks so much for the information.
I just found ur page on maraji's insta story and ur awesome. I recently cut my hair cos it hasn't grown in 6 years and I'm on low cut. Can u recommend anything for me to use so my hair grows? Thank u in advance.
OMG I was hooked when you said she-a butter not shea like how the Irish pronounce o'shea and in America . Thank you, thank you I read in a magazine years ago how Africans pronounce. Sorry your video was great I will try but undoing shampoo and conditioner is an hard un-teaching of a assimilated Afro-American (we're already ridiculed that black ppl smell because we don't wash our hair everyday and teacher a washed a childs hair because she didn't like the coconut oil smell ). Lol off track I'm going to try I work from home.😁 THANK YOU
I would only think like would help our black hair but never harm . Before all of the products we have or say all African Americans/blacks had was hair grease.
Girl make the video again but with 1,2,3 steps nothing but instructions I’m slow 😪. Do I do this before or after deep Conditioner? Likeeeee can you not do so many cut aways I’m not catching the chronology of the routine
Hey sis,, good to see you😁 You take care of your hair so well and I just enjoy watching and learning from you. That oil rinsing seems like a great treatment and your curls are so healthy and shiny. Bravo 👏 👏 👏 Thanks for sharing,,stay safe and stay blessed 😇
Sister, queen, CAN YOU PLEASE DO A VIDEO LESSON IN THE GREETINGS?! I really want to learn. Can you tell the country, the pronunciation written out phonetically etc? That would be amazing! Much love and blessing sis ❤️❤️❤️
One this about this lady she is the bomb Chille I been watching your videos for the longest and was hmmm I should give this a go I actually did it tn aka 1am lol I used grape seed oil and i shampoo my hair before I did the oil wash and I love it it can get drippy and slippery when having it on your hair but I’m in love with it coconut oil brakes my face out bad so cheers to new hair beginnings🤍
Love this girl havent seen you in a while im an old subscriber from when i first went natural🤗!!!.... forget all the negative comments on here... Again thanks for this will def try as a last step when i wash and DC. ❤️
I'm confused. The oil completely seals the hair, which doesn't allow any moisture into the hair shaft. Following with conditioner, it also, would not penetrate the hair to the medulla.
I am happy about your wonderful knowledge frm the ancestors...Thank you...This came @ the best time, think this will solve one of my problems about dryness...For any negativeness, know that there are many, like myself who highly appreciate old ancient knowledge that works...I'm amazed & over whelmed...My Grandma told me a few yrs back they used lard, what they had, she was 1918-2019, makes sense... 🔥💥🎉🎆😊😁😉
Laset livingstin yes indeed Gmama was putting you on some real game!!!! They may not have always had access to the natural oils but they knew this knowledge and held on to it very well, bless her soul! Thank you sharing!! 💕💕
L. Patrick 😭wait i think you asked for some clothing link last time?(I hope it’s not you lol) and once I posted the items on the site they were sold out immediately but I never saw L Patrick I was like “ooooh no! she will think I have forgotten 🤣”
