So many people forget just how good this band was. Danny Elfman deserves all the credit in the world for his talent, but Sluggo, Vatos, Steve, and the rest of the band were a talented bunch as well. Oingo had a sound that nobody has ever been able to recreate.
I'm really happy and grateful to Sluggo for keeping Oingo Boingo alive with Oingo Boingo Dance Party. It's not quite the same without Danny Elfman of course, but they still do a hell of a show that's a really good time. They managed to find a singer that channels Elfman's vocals very well. If you ever get a chance, check them out! You'll have fun. I've seen them 3 times now and they don't disappoint. Of course, nothing will top seeing the whole group together when I was 14 in SLC for their Farewell tour. Viva la Boingo!
Normal.
Boingo was the best live performance band I ever saw. And by a large margin at that. I saw them open for The Police at the Forum in '83 and they stole the whole night. One of the few advantages to being this age is getting to be around for bands like this.
I've always been a rock and roller any guys came along and my best friend who's no longer with me cuz now I'm 68 we weren't showing at the Palladium in Hollywood and that was my first mosh pit I'm usually just sit back and smoke pot but that was interesting always love talented people I love all types of music especially when you can tell the people love what they're doing
This song is so moving...the line about "a place in the stars for when you get old" and also "there's a smile on my face for everyone..." Just Beautiful.
Many years ago, I was watching The Nightmare Before Christmas with my brother, and I asked, "Who does Jack's singing voice? It's so good!" He said, "Danny Elfman." I said, "DANNY ELFMAN? The film composer? I didn't know he could sing!" He said, "Yep. He was also the lead singer and songwriter of the band Oingo Boingo." And I said, "Cool. I'll have to check them out." And that, my friends, is how Danny Elfman ruined my life. #noregrets #boingoforever
One of the best songs of the 80's. Saw these guys in our outdoor concert in Utah. My drunk friend ran into the traffic cop's car on the way out of the concert. He spent the night in the tank. He is now a very accomplished professor of engineering. Classic! God bless the Boingo! God bless the era when music and culture allowed people to grow up--lessons learned after a great concert experience.
Me too! Saw them maybe 5 times total. Drove all the way from Ogden, forgot the tickets, drove all the way back and then drove back down. Missed Wall of Voodoo but still amazing. Totally worth it.
We were teenagers and went surfing all over the stunning beaches in south Brazil. We were young, strong, and free. All we listen was Oingo Boingo. Sometimes I feel jealous of my self when I think back. OB rocks; in my opinion, one of the best bands ever.
I always keep coming back to Oingo Boingo, never get tired of them. One of my favorite bands. Wish I could've seen them live, but I was only 5 years old when they split up. Also born in the wrong location lol.
Same! I was 4! But I loved the Batman theme, Tales from the Crypt theme, and Nightmare Before Christmas so I grew up loving Danny Elfman without knowing it, or how much more I'd love him the more I uncovered as I got older. Living at the same time as Danny Elfman has been rad.
The freaking best.. Love 5hem,followed fro the 80's.. Love Danny elfman.. You are my hero.. Love you, always have, always will.. From the best country in the world.. XOXO 🇦🇺
Starting with a club show at Madame Wong's, I saw Boingo maybe 50 times. Every chance I had basically. Best live performance band ever, by far. My humble opinion and all that.
É por essas e outras que vários artistas ,várias bandas, adoram fazer shows no BRASIL ...uma PLATÉIA FRIA ,sem graça e os caras se arrebentando no palco ,cantando com alma e coração...OINGO BOINGO É SHOW
One of my favorite 80's bands during high school and great dance music for Halloween. Such awesome music and talent. Thanks Oingo Boingo for all of the great memories!!!
As a kid who grew up in the 90s and a huge fan of alternative rock music, Oingo Boingo ranks number 1 in "80s groups who I never saw live which I want to see live"
Me apaixonei por esse som desde a primeira vez que ouvi. Foi paixão à primeira vista. Esse som está na minha playlist e no meu coração. Apenas outro dia.
My Fav Oingo Boingo song. Great Great Band. Super musicians. A band that you really need to have seen in a live show to do them any justice(as good as these videos capture the vibe). I was lucky enough to have seen them twice around 85/86. Both times at SD State(a great venue) The 2nd time I saw them it poured rain the whole time and not a single person left. I am 48 years old and have seen many many great bands in a live show. These guys are tops in my book.
I love this song! I love Oingo Boingo! Some of the greatest talent of the century...that I am sure of. Before their time and boy do I miss them all the more in this sampling arrogant, illiterate, new culture. I am starving for artists!
danny elfman is and will always be a musical genius, whether it be rocking out onstage like he did back then, or writing some sweet movie scores like he does today. regardless, long live boingo dude!
This group was way ahead of their time. I saw them at Mississppi Nights St. Louis about the time this song came out. We danced, sang, jumped and shouted non stop through the entire performance. I've been going to concerts for 30 years now and there was none like Oingo Boingo Live.
I was late to the Oingo scene. I remember friends in high school listening to them and got me into them by 86. Just grew to love and appreciate their music! Of all the songs I knew, this one was my favorite. It contained so many of those Oingo elements - the lyrics, the frenetic pace, the xylophones, & Danny’s voice! I could go on and on, but those who appreciate Oingo know.
I was there 1994-1995 so amazing this was what halloween was all about,I miss them...Although there's a great cover band "dead man's party" that's helping all boingo fans revisit these memories...They are one of the best bands ever!!!
I should've been born about 10 years before my actual birthdate (1974) to be able to truly appreciate AND experience for myself the awesomeness of this band!!! But I'm also a trumpet player - AND I'm a ginger, so I still find myself with a deep appreciation for this band's music!! 🎶
All of the Oingo Bingo songs when I hear them puts a smile on my face and takes me back to a time when life was easy and fun was around every corner, what it really makes me think about is my ex girlfriend Denise and how good she was to me and how sweet and pretty she was, well I sure deserved her breaking up with me as I would go out on her every chance I had , I was so blind to her love and I took her for granted and feel so bad what I put her through for 7 years. Anyways I miss you Denise M Calzadiaz and when I here these songs or any good old KROQ flashbacks on the radio I sometimes get a little teary eyed and I do end up smiling after just remembering the times good and bad . Denise I miss you.... Since then I have had a few girlfriends and been with a lot of women and I currently have a girl that's been with me for 25 years and it is nothing like back in the day with Denise....
This song rocks and unlocks so many memories. Back then was a welsh teenager and was intoduced to the band by a friend from California. What a gift, cheers Mark Van H
I love Oingo Boingo. My neighbor plays guitar for Oingo Boingo. Mike he’s an amazing man. I first saw Oingo Boingo at the Golden Bear Inn Huntington Beach in the late 70s. After that in Utah Park city. Salt Lake City. Now the Coach House. I hope to see them in Santa Clarita with my cousin. My name guy
Very very very amazing!!!!! Oingo Boingo is one of my favorite bands and "Just another day" is excellent simply!!! Put your hands up and scream it's rock n' roll!!!!!
I wish I was old enough to truly appreciate this concert. I was only five when my parents went to it and I wasn't allowed to go because they figured I'd get bored at a concert.
