I was a kid during the trial. All the adults were watching this for a year straight, so I learned all about it. It's crazy that until today I can name all the people involved, plus all the lawyers. It's just nuts how big of a deal this trial was. People born after it can't appreciate it.

People might not know or recall how incredibly famous OJ was at the time. Football star with legit comedic acting chops and those car rental commercials -- he was everywhere, and he seemed like a great and affable guy. NFL domestic abuse didn't make the news and stalking was barely even a crime then. That a beloved celebrity like OJ was accused of these murders was utterly shocking and in the wake of the Rodney King trial and riots plus the relatively new rise of the 24/7 cable news, it was a perfect storm that earned being called the crime of the century. I was working in NYC at the time and office tvs were on all day tuned to the trial and when the jury returned to give their verdict, our whole office of a couple hundred people all stopped to crowd around to watch and I think stopping everything to watch the verdict come in was true of nearly all of New York and beyond. It was definitely one of those times in history that people know exactly where they were when it happened.

@MamaB-SOI "not judging" is one of the most misused concepts attributed to God in reference to scripture. The Lord said we are to judge by the fruit of someone's character and actions. Further, it is required of a person who has committed wrongdoing against anyone to walk in "the fruit of repentence." Again, their actions should demonstrate their remorse. This man showed none of that. He left behind a wake of destruction and selfishly hurt many people and even joked about the murders. He took his children's mother away from them. He was a serial abuser of Nicole. That is well documented. There was never, ever a single other person of interest in those murders. God gave him 29 years to humble himself and repent to those families for what he did and give them some sort of closure. He would have still faced consequences legally, but he could have offered some sort of relief from all his destructive choices. Instead he left his own family to live under the dark cloud of his life. Just because he escaped "justice" of our broken legal system, he is facing God's perfect justice right now.

As far as I know the children have never spoken publicly on the subject and are very private. It’s not uncommon for children to protect and side with the remaining parent rather than be a virtual orphan. They can’t mentally face losing both parents or face the reality of something so horrific IMO. And these little children had no choice bc their dad was found not guilty and was their legal guardian.

While time has blurred the memory and mood of his testimony, as someone who watched every minute of the trial it was CRYSTAL CLEAR that Kato was doing his best to protect OJ. Maybe no one else remembers, but I (and Clark and Darden) remember. He would have been homeless without OJ's help and he was keenly aware of that. After the smoke cleared and he was lambasted by the media and the public he saw that his actions during his testimony backfired against his carefully planned image, only THEN did he start creating the image that he was trying to help the prosecution and they screwed up. It's truly a shame that so many people are falling for the publicity spin this coward has created and that he feels guilt. Some of us remember the real you, Kato.
