I wonder if they changed suppliers of the stand offs they are using on that shield......they may be a bit shorter and be letting it get closer to the PCB.......
No idea mate. Unless some good reason to leave the screen extending all the way down to the board shows itself I reckon it would be easier just to make the screen shorter as I have done.
Yeah its pretty sloppy of them to let that through........your way to fix it is by far the best way, but I was just wondering how a company like MJF could let such a thing through QC like that.....
Nice trouble shooting job! MFJ should give you a big free tuner for this. I imagine they will change their manufacturing construction to will modify the metal or put some tape on the board!
They sent me a replacement tuner without asking for the faulty one back. This suggests to me they are already aware of the design flaw. It would be very nice if they sent me a 269C antenna analyser as a gift though.
Yes, very careless to have metal laying on the resist. It's possibly the fact the remote tuner is adapted from an indoor version as a "quickie" project that didn't get design reviewed.
It certainly should have been picked up. It will be interesting to see if the other 998 they sent me has the same screen fitting arrangement or if they've changed it.
