@@todd3143 I love that it builds up like "Orochi is the most Evil SOB to ever exist, you need to kill him immediately!!" And the games like "Oh btw this is only Fight 1 out of 3 with him, you still got another 30 hours to go lmao
@@river9289 Very True! The fact of it being a by-product of orochi's defeat also explained that why Crimson Helm was the only boss that did not have a direct cultural reference. Minor typo here: the guy's name is Nagi, derived from one of the origin god "Izanagi" (He who invites) in Shinto.
I still cannot get over the Ninetails battle theme. Not quite as demented as Lechku and Nechku's, but it's such a well-composed piece. It just oozes power. The first time you fight her, you hear that music and you have no idea what to expect, and you're both just running all of a sudden, it's arguably the most epic moment in the entire game.
Not to mention the sudden stop in any and all music before it begins as you finish the constellation. Arguably the best build-up to a boss in Okami as well next to the Yami fight.
Even yet i still consider Okami one of the greatest games ever made and i've purchased a lot of titles since then but none of them draw me back quite as often as Okami does.
I wouldn't mind a similar game for different lore. Like maybe a similar trip through the lavant and Christian religious figures and stories. I think the reason the church has fared so poorly is the stubberness in not allowing games unless they are pretty much gutted for "accuracy" reasons.
I like how Ninetails’s design makes its fur look like papier-mâché, like it’s not really real. It’s all a facade to hide the real fox underneath. Also my favorite is the twin owl demons’ theme. It’s sad they didn’t get more screen time or a chance to showcase their personalities. I love the unique clockwork/Victorian. I don’t know, there’s just something about it. The bell tolls and ticking mechanical sounds were also a nice touch.
There were so many times in my first playthrough of the game where I thought I was facing the final boss, the music is that convincing. If you want to be specific, I'm pretty sure it was like that at Orochi, Ninetails, and Lechku and Nechku. Yeah. Only at Yami did I actually know for a fact that it was the end.
First time playing I thought it was the end with fighting Orochi the first time and it kinda made me sad at first, but boy did it surprise me to be a game that was much longer than expected and one to be so thrilling!~
The dialogue with Ninetails before his battle strongly hinted at another, much more powerful dark lord. Other than that, the only way I knew Orochi wasn't the final boss for example, was that I hadn't yet obtained all the brush powers yet.
yeah man, so like, there's this fox, yeah? and he's wearing a mask.a fox mask. and like, he has nine tails.. and each tail has a puppet on it. a fox puppet. wearing a fox mask. wait where are you going?
Every other theme in this and every other game: "HAHAHA I am a boss, look how big and intimidating I am, you have no chance" The Sun rises: "YOU ARE THE FINAL BOSS" And that's why The Sun Rises is the greatest final battle theme of all time.
My favoritr game of all time. I've played a lot of games in my day, thousands of hours in WoW, Borderlands, and many others. This game has always been my fav since it's release. When people tell me that video games aren't art I refer them directly to this game or Shadow of the Colossus. Just everything about this is a masterpiece. Even after playing through so many times it still hits me right in the feels.
Ninetails is still the best fight in the game. The story, the buildup, the suprise of him/her jumping out of the constellation and countering your brush skills, visibly growing weaker as you destroy the fox rods on it's tails... It's masterfully executed.
One thing I love about the final battle is that the music isn't threatening. I mean, yes, it has moments where you grab the controller in anticipation at the random flute notes, but it feels like the music is cheering the player on, and also warning him or her to keep Ammy going to not stay in one place. Thanks for uploading this!
That moment when we understood that Orochi wasn't the final boss: Wait what ? I love it, how everything tells you that orochi is the final bad guy, when in fact you'll have to fight him three times to get over with it xD And let's be honest, the bad guy we kill with the most anger and pleasure is Nine Tails, when I realised that he had killed Himiko, I was like: Excuse me I didn't expect dying people in this game My favourite game and one of my first games aswell on ps2, then ps3, then pc and also ps4 ^^
I've known this game since it's debut in 2006, but never watched nor played it until now! I can't believe how underrated Okami seems to be, despite that I used to see fan art of it constantly spammed on Deviant Art. After have finishing it on the Nintendo Switch version for the first time, I really enjoyed it! 😄 One of the most emotional games I've ever played since Paper Mario 2. And definitely dig the Japanese-musical vibe to it!
@@giratina6665 and even then its a pretty weak link to myth and game, the major issue with Okamiden is really the fact that the same writters off from Okami weren't involved nor looked for myths to include in the universe, nor had the interest to explore the mysteries Okami left nor build off the ending, and even with the story we got its pretty weak and based off the first game's way too much
@@becodeku I meant the final boss of Okami, but am not very sure if it was intentional. I never played Okamiden so i cant judge, but I have not heard that many good things about besides from you, so I probably never will.
@@giratina6665 I mean its literally trying to be Okami on the DS so its kinda not worthy specially considering it being canon or not is dubious, even then the final boss is the most "game thing" by being just the protagonist's dark self
Man, I remember having so many many good memories of this game. First time my bro showed it to me, I was like meh, let's see how this goes, and then I knew I had to finish this game so, so bad. I even went to collect all the stray beads. The colours, the graphics, the creativeness, the bosses, Okami, oh the ever lovely Okami. This game marked a before and after in my gaming life. I think I've never found anything like it. Almost forgot to say, about the way of the attacks! That was such a clever and amazing idea! I wanna play this game again... Thank you so much for putting these songs together. I might cry a little bit...
1st: Nintetails has the best theme 2nd: i could go with Lechku and Nechku 3rd: (or 2.5) is True Orochi's theme 4th: can go to Blight (cuz is also waka's) Rest fall in whatever order. Ninetails is my fav cuz i love the whole arc in ryoshima coast and capital city, the sunken ship, Rao, Water Dragon, Lucky mallet/ Blight's fight, Otohime and Queen Himiko, Oni Island. Damn it do i love that arc!
+YoManu “yomanolovega16” Vega I too, love that arc! and Ninetails is my favorite villain of the game! The rest like Yami, the twin owls, etc - i love equally 2nd to ninetails. I couldnt rate them XD but yeah, the ryoshima arc was amazing!
pluckyfox08 the thing is like orochi (which is the first Big Boss of the game), Ninetails arc has so many mini plots that are all related and building up that story until it climaxes in oni Island that makes it an amazing part. Don't get me wrong i love the Kamui up north part with shiranui etc. but then you can kinda feel the game is just reaching the end. the threat and intensity wasn't as big as when Oni Island was about to disappear for the last time it was located, etc. You get my point xD
Sweet!! I'd love to see a clover studios (or however it's called nowadays) sequel to okami. Okamiden is a cute story but visuals for the nin ds were just awful, story was sub par. i'd love an official continuation of the original Okami...
The Spider "Queen" is actually a Jorougumo, which is one of the stronger youkai in ancient Japanese folklore whose name more closely means spider prostitute (a prostitute cursed into spider form). In video games, though it is common for the Jorougumo to be a boss or mini-boss, it is rare for it to be a queen of any sort. I think in this case, it is just the English localization having decided on the name without thinking very deeply, because the Japanese localization just goes with Jorougumo.
In my opinion, Okami was better than Okamiden. Since Amaterasu is meant to be a fully fledged god, It would make sense to have more techniques and harder gameplay, whilst Chibiterasu is still only a child.
I don't know... since okamiden wasn't created by anyone who partook in making okami (Clover studios now platinum games) I don't find it to be canon, or a sequel at all. But that just because every time another group of people does something without the original creators help or even consent, in my experience has not turned out well. Dragonball GT, Akira Toriyama did not work on the storyline, and it had more plotholes than you could count without any explanations. Spyro the dragon, and crash bandicoot were in similar situations with their companies insomniac and naughty dog, when universal kept hand me downing the games to various companies. The original creators had nothing to do with anything past spyro 3, and CTR, and slowly they began to decline in quality. This is what I fear for okami.
Yami's theme is so good. Its my favorite song in this beautiful game. It tides all of your emotions and feeling and expresses them perfectly. Especially after you though he killed waka.
I remember the first time playing okami back in ps2 era, I really hate the spider lady boss fight. First her theme is creepy, second the way she rushed to attack ammy is creepy not to mention the troublesome of using the vinesin the middle of running away from her attack. And also the lechku and nechku boss battle. I really want to slash Okikumi when he ask me to mount him in the middle of the attack. I don't know how many times I died because of that. The era of my noob game playing 😂
I think the bloody Orochi looks more terrifying than the golden Orochi. But if you ask me which one got the majestic looks, its definitely the golden Orochi.
Somebody should make a Lechku and Nekku alarm clock or just a clock of anykind! I would buy it! I would also frame it in a geust room so they can watch them in their sleep...:) I had a screwed up child hood okay...
I agree, the game is good, especially the music..I love the music even though I like the Japanese culture (crimson helm and orchi are favs in this vds now) :3
well, the reason why I love this game and a game call muramasa rebirth is both of them has beautiful artwork as well as the storyline and the japanese feels they bring . hope they will have the second version, or even a crossover
Blight and Waka doesn't share the same theme. Blight shares his theme with Crimson Helmet, and Waka's battle theme is his own. You might want to correct that in the video description. You can see for yourself if there's any doubt.
once I can im buying Okami for nintendo switch, I really need to replay it as I only had Okami for wii and my consola is just dead, switch is my only hope cause my pc doesnt have much storage left ; v ;
it makes me sad how most companies just make games about trash like "buff guys with big guns" they should actually put care in the games they make, with Okami, I can FEEL all the love and care put into this game, and it paid off big time.
I remember playing this game as a child and I loved it because I felt it was like "the beautiful white puppy game". I'll buy it and play it again now that I've grown up and I've learned how to read 🥺
blight was such a joke. it didn't really occur to me at that point in the game that he was an actual boss, and not just a more significant enemy. slowing down time and spamming seven strike made quick work of him
I originally got this game years ago when i saw Chuggaaconroy play it which is something i don't normally do, and i can comfortably say i dont regret a thing so on the off chance he sees this thank you for the lp and recommendation 😅
Not as much as blight though. Spider queen isn't difficult, a lot of the bosses aren't. But spider queen at least gets points for being a colossal beast. Not enough of the bosses were larger than life. (I wish we at least fought the water dragon at some point, cause that thing is fucking terrifying.)
if this game was available on Steam that would be super awesome.... :3 I would definitely buy it and play it on my PC (just hope that it's system requirements wouldn't be too high so that my notebook can launch it to play it~)
Have you looked into the PCSX2? Last week I downloaded it along with an Okami rom and XInput Wrapper for my controller and it runs perfect on my laptop.
Taylor Morgen thanks! :) I'll ask you if I have any problems. (but of course I'll try to figure out what the problem is first and see if I can deal with it myself or not) by the way what's the system requirements for this to be installed on a PC? I mean does it say in the PCSX2?
Uhm, you can find the info here: pcsx2.net/getting-started.html Although before I got a new laptop I could run Okami with very little lag on my old standard laptop with less than the minimum requirtments. Okami isn't a straining game on a system, luckily. Oh and you can find a safe rom here: emuparadise.me
+Max Fer I love all of the boss themes. It's hard to choose which to fave most cause all of them are amazing to listen to. But if i were to add best five, i'd say: 1)Yami 2)Nechku and Lechku 3)Ninetails 4)Final Yami 5)Crimson Helm
Expect to me Rising sun isn't Yami's boss song, it's Ammy boss song as at that moment, she is the boss. This song is not about struggling because the ennemy is very powerful, you can hear that the song is about Ammy becoming the final boss of all Yokais.
