Thank you!!! Riding those walls really helped. For people in the future, I would recommend not going straight through the ice lake in part 3, but instead running along the side which is lined with snow rather than ice. Also avoid doing the mid-air dash, I think it takes away your running momentum.
Thanks for posting this! Took me a few tries to learn the routes and beat her. For anyone trying, it's okay to mess up if you've got a lead on her. Just keep going
It took me 5-6-7 times, but I won at last, thanks to this video. I was about to lose in the third section, but I made it thanks to the shortcuts this video shows. Thank you!
After I finally beat her, I used all the brush techniques on her that I could, both on her human and wolf form. God, I hated her by the time I got the bead. She’s a dirty cheater and I call hacks. For some reason she goes right through snowballs and icicles and never slides on ice.
@sloobro Holy- 3 HOURS?! Wow, just wow. That's just amazing, there's nothing else I can put into words that can describe how epic and astounding that is.
I've been studying this like a madwoman and I still haven't beaten Kai. XD It's my fault, though...I keep hitting those poison thorn walls and ice blocks.
Groobo (the person who made this video) has a 9-hour complete game speedrun up at speeddemosarchive dot com, in case you want to see him play more :) He's currently working on a second-time-through speedrun taking advantage of glitches, which will be a less than three-hour video!
Oh wow thanks! After two years, yes years, (and one play-through of Okamiden) I am ready to try to beat try to beat Kai again. That race made me so pissed off that I stopped playing altogether. I'm sure this video will be helpful.
Thank you, Thank you! I finally beat her! Actually she was 2 meters in front of me (2:12 left on the clock for the curious), but she let me win. I'm actually a bit shocked because I thought it'd take me many more tries (I mean, I had already been attempting dozens of times, what's a few more?) A few tips for those who are trying to replicate this race: - If you collide with the first thorns, just turn around and restart the race. You can afford a few mistakes but why set yourself up for failure at the very start? - Maintain your speed. Tackle to go into first acceleration and avoid mistakes that would get you out of your momentum. Apparently, you lose speed if your running direction and camera angle are not aligned, but you can also change your running/camera direction with the other stick to avoid this problem. - Make full use of the momentum from jumping down from high areas: don't start the second jump too soon. At first I kept wondering why groobo's jumps seemed to cover much more distance than mine. In fact, you travel pretty fast in a direction when you are jumping from a high position, so initiate the second jump only when you are fairly close to the ground. You'll cover a much larger jump distance this way. Use this especially for the last two shortcuts in the third section.
I had the same problem ... I read on a board to just go through it beforehand and bloom all the trees (powerslash the purple glowing orb back at them and then bloom) and only then race Kai. Helped me a lot :)
What would make this easier is to turn all the evil trees into apple trees when not racing, and then race... Ive noticed those short cuts, but I guess Im not getting the hang of how to use them right :( (jumping into trees, slowing me down) This will help me though, so thnx for the upload :D
The fact is, you cannot beat Kai if you run along with her path and don't use shortcuts. Also, if you bloom all the trees, they won't slow you in next attempt. Too bad you can't do that with that ice spikes.
Thanks so much for posting this! I finally beat it by following this path. :) Why did Kai always show up when you entered a new screen? On mine, she didn't, and for most of the race I thought she must have gone way ahead of me.
i just wish i wouldn't slow down at random intervals, i think my analog stick is to blame. by the way how does he keeps his speed on the ice? everytime i land on it i automatically slow down.
