yes the song is 700 yrs ago, who was born around 740 years ago. It is still performed on Nizzamuddin's tomb in Delhi every Vasant Panchami. Fun fact Amir Khusro is also credited for inventing Sitar as well as writing the original lyrics of the famous sindhi devotion song " Dama dam mast kalandar"

This dance form is one of the eight classical dance form of India it's Kathak dance from North India. Originally performed by Dev-Dasi's for the purpose of dancing before the God in Temple in ancient India. ❤️

Yeah, its originally a form of north Indian temple dance, which later evolved into various gharanas/styles developed by Hindu Gurus: Lucknow, Banaras, Jaipur, Raigarh. There are also less known Punjab & Deccan styles of Kathak. It received Persian influence in the mediaeval times. Today, its popular across the globe. Kind of India's gift to the world!

@@rashmijaitly1598 Actually I also got to know it pretty later. What I got to know was: pre partition there was a style of Kathak in Lahore, after Lahore was merged to Pakistan, Guru of that style migrated to Delhi. I tried finding out on internet but I'm not getting any information. I badly wish our dance gurus should find it out & revive that style. Even at present, there's a form of Kathak danced in Lahore but this one is not a separate branch, its an offshoot of Banaras Gharana (as far as I got to know). Deccan style is unfortunately extinct. It was practiced by Mah Laqa Baai of Hyderabad. Again someone should try to bring it back. I've even heard of Kolkata style as well. I suppose that developed when Nawab of Lucknow had stayed in Bengal. Additionally, there's Sufi Kathak which is a completely different style developed by Manjari Chaturvedi.

I was very much sad when I heard the news of passing away of Pt. Birju Maharaj from Bindadeen Gharana. He established many schools of music and art and dance in Lucknow and Delhi.

@@rashmijaitly1598 Yeah true. Indian culture has not only spread to the neighborhood, its also there in South East Asia, China & Japan as well. South East Asia had Indian kingdoms (Bali & Java still have many Hindus & magnificent Hindu & Buddhist temples), China has Buddhism which went there from India and Japan's Shintoism has Hindu associated Deities. Today, US has world's second largest Hindu temple, South America has large population of Hindus in Guyana & Suriname, Ghana has black Hindus and Russia has white Hindus. Our presence is global. India is truly incredible!!!!🕉️🚩🇮🇳☸️

One of the things I love about SLB is that he weaves traditional music into his movies (and now TV shows) in a way that makes them fresh and digestible to a modern audience. It reignites appreciation for traditional music, dance, clothing, etc. ALSO I just have to say that the backup dancers in this show are excellent! I often watch background dancers and they can sometimes be a bit off and out of sync with each other due to rushed rehearsals or sub-par dancers. But this show, the dancers are all so good!

I don’t think nizamuddin means the king. It’s the spiritual guru. He is seeing Hindus collect yellow flowers for their festival. So he does the same to give it to his spiritual guru nizamuddin.
