The best decision made with the series was not to make it "realistic" it still follows game logic, health packs that instantly heal, fusion power, mutants etc.

Glad you're watching the show, too :) As a fan of the games, I was and am very happy in how they made this. Fallout has quite a bit of quirkiness to it. Like, there are some rather outrageous elements, that players are already used to it. So, while it's not a comedy show, there is a lot of whacky and darker comedy to be found there as well. Enjoy it :)

@@cookiedestroyer2801 and even there he didn't seem that knowledgeable on how the armor itself worked or how to maintain it. Cool that you are watching the series :D The ghoul is indeed someone we already met and it will be clear next episode. In regards to the general world, the Vault stuff, the Brotherhood of Steel (the robo suits) and the Ghoul are happening at around the same time. The outside is still somewhat radioactive, yet people have survived outside. The question why the Vault dwellers didn't believe that to be true and are staying inside will be answered :) I would say in the most broadest strokes, based on the games, VaultTec (the ppl who build the Vaults) aren't like the bestest of people or corporations ^^ They are kinda somewhat infamously ... not good ... in all the games ;)

@@StopMeOh Well in Fallout lore if you receive a strong dose of radiation either by exposure or consuming the right irradiated chemicals and your body has the right genes you don't die you become a Ghoul and age really slow almost immortal but your brain needs some chemical drugs or starts deteriorating to the point you go feral and act like an animal. That cowboy is the age he was on start plus 219.

For folks who saw all the marketing, they weren't shy about The Ghoul's connection to the pre-war scene. In the FO universe a high enough radiation dose is usually lethal just like in ours but sometimes people become ghouls instead. They become immune to radiation and are nearly immortal unless killed. However most if not all eventually become feral and lose their humanity. The Ghoul seems to have used their immortality to level up enough to be seriously OP. As to how much radiation is safe, assuming the "linear no threshold" model of radiation effects is accurate, no amount is safe. All radiation effects are somewhat random, and increasingly so at lower doses where the consequence is greater cancer risk rather than acute illness or death that is caused by high doses. So at the low end it's a question of how much risk one is willing to accept.

You can easily watch the series without knowing the games, but I think you're missing out a bit. I see it when I watch the reaction to the series and someone says they have never played Fallout. Some of the theories that arise there before they get to know this world a bit. Most of the things they theorize about are trivially obvious to someone who has played the games. Yes, games in the plural, those who played Fallout 4 have the same number of puzzles, those who started with Fallout 3 have a little less. So I'm asking you if you want to play Fallout after watching the series. Then play Fallout 1 until at least 5 deaths. I know that this part is not as thrilling as the later parts in the first-person view and with a resolution that no one could even dream of in 1997. But this part most thoroughly explains the world in which the games and the series take place.

@@StopMeOh I see that under the influence of the series, many people are stressing about the fallout gameplay. Most even choose the female gender and name Lucy. And they play Fallout 4, where their Lucy is looking for her baby. And if they played Fallout 3 instead, she would be looking for her father like in the series.

@@StopMeOh I started the Lucky Lucy series on Twitch in Fallout 3 where Lucy has Luck set high from the beginning. and the rest of the stats, perks and skills are random, both at the beginning and later at experience levels. But I want to do it properly and not jump from app to app, so I only have one episode for now. And in half way to do everything by a button press.

The thing about the "cousin stuff" is that if you take a hundred or two people into a vault, then two hundred years later there will be very few people who aren't related in one way or another. The social mores of a vault have to adapt. I would guess that we're talking about second cousins and further, but in a world with perfect contraception it probably doesn't really matter anyway, except in ikkyness factor. Without breeding, there's no chance of in-breeding. It's no worse than noble and royal families in the middle ages. Not that that's not a pretty unpleasant idea. A regular influx from vault 32 etc probably help mix things uo, but of course they have the same problem so the input from there is likely to be a bunch of cousins therselves.

@@StopMeOh they were just lucky the bombs in fallout are smaller than the ones used in the real world. They are only a couple kilotons. If they had been the size of something like the bombs used on Japan (pretty small by today's standards) they would have been inside the mushroom cloud of the first bomb.

Haven't seen any of these Fallout episodes yet, so this is going to be a treat for both of us Ola🥰Also, I didn't know Ella was starring in this, she is such a bada$$ already! I played Fallout 4 and 76 video game and I must say, so far did a brilliant job just like TLOU. Hopefully the series will go into further explanation on who is who and what they are further in. Basically the Brotherhood is the do gooders trying to bring order to the world. Mutants are transformed by the world and trying to survive and the cannibals are pretty much the same. Lots of fighting lots of pew pews...I hope🙂 Love it thanks so much Ola💞Have a wonderful night!

14:55 A little fun fact: What Lucy stabs herself with is known in the Fallout games as a Stimpak, Stimpaks are basically shots filled with a mixture of healing agents, stimulants, antiseptic, blood, and steel, they’re fully capable of healing all to some physical injures (I say all to some because some injures require more than one Stimpak.) these are one of many chems, short for chemicals, you can find…these various chems include Mentats, a pre-War "party-drug" originally developed by Med-Tek, an in game company, for medical purposes, Buffout, a "sports-enhancement" drug popularized by pre-war athletes, Psycho, a combat-enhancement drug developed at the behest of General Chase, that’s something that happens post-war, Med-X, a painkiller found in many hospitals in game, and Rad-X, a preventive medication to be taken before exposure to radiation, when you take Rad-X in game it reduces the total amount of radiation you receive and bolsters your body’s own Radiation Resistance.
