American Madrasas? Like Afghanistan has but in the US and Christian Bible teaching instead of the Quran and Islam? That's where this is going. Want religious education of "Your Choice?" Go to your place of worship for that. Doesn't belong in any public schools.
I am a Christian and I believe in not only reading but in studying the Bible. I also believe that God gives us freedom to choose for or against Him. Reading the Bible should be promoted in the home by parents, never mandated by officials in public schools. Blessings!
And many other religious documents/bibles/books will be introduced as well. I'm curious what version will be used. Churches are splitting left & right because they can't agree on things. I feel for the already extremely underpaid teachers! They're going to get yelled at by parents, kids, pastors, etc. Or they may be set on teaching their own views or what they believe a verse to mean based on what they learned in church. I'm thinking of becoming a substitute chemistry teacher & will introduce the banned books of the bible. Lol 😜
@@Katz_Chaos the Bible is to be used for the historical context of the nation. Not to tell them Christianity is “true” rather to show them why we have the morals we do in the us.

The many broken treaties between the native tribes and the us governemnt are historical documents too. Will children be taught about how Oklahoma came to be?
And there won't be any teaching of how Christians eradicated a culture in order to 'civilize' the colonies. Funny how things turned out for the pilgrims that came here to worship in peace and broke bread with the natives. Then came Catholics and Christians and it all went to you know what.
You guys really have no idea what 'separation of church and state' means do you? This is the problem with the education system right here. The separation of 'powers' is part of our foundation and you think it means keeping religion and government separate lol...

@@TheRomanticsWB "Education is a good thing to have before you get on the internet spouting nonsense." Such as the parts of Bible that say I can own slaves if they come from another country? Why not use a copy of Thomas Jefferson's Bible 1820. The literal writer of the Declaration of Independence, and our third President. "Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear." ~ Thomas Jefferson, 1787
No shit, which bible they want in schools, the Mormon, the Torah, The Quran, The Hindu, the Cristian, the Buddha, the Masonic, the Catholic or the trump bible?
The push is for Christian Nationalism, the religion of Mike Johnson, MTG, & Lauren Boebert, but really has very little to do with Christianity...more a religion of hatred. The problem is these people do not know nor understand the history of the "Christian" Bible...I think they'd be surprised by what they'd discover.
This is not "a step backwards", this is a first because our forefathers clearly stated there should be a separation of church and state from the beginning.
@@TheSignofJonah777 Thomas Jefferson's letter. If you can look up Bible verses, you can also look up historical facts. According to Mr. Walters, this is the basis of wanting the Bible to be taught, it was the founding fathers use of the Bible.

Hope he's got plans for another career... cause this one's about to be over. He might make it in fast food... though his childish temper and lack of frustration tolerance probably won't help. Yes, teach about the obvious incest in Genesis(where did the wives for Abel and Cain come from?), the improbability of Noah's Ark, all the cruelties and atrocities in the Old Testament, and other incongruities , also in the New Testament. Make it a point that slavery was defended and approved of on the basis of the Bible, and that the relentless displacement and extermination of indigenous people was vindicated with the Bible, then you get some of the aspects of its relevance for American history.
Science proved the existence of Noah’s ark and the flood of those times. Cruelties and atrocities have been part of human kind and not just outlined in the Bible as God gives us free choice to act and do as we see although every action has an opposite and equal reaction. Extermination of a people? That also isn’t just the Bible, it is history.
I'm a Christian and I understand those parents concerns. When I went to public school my parents worried I was being taught things that we didn't believe in, like evolution. But even though they weren't allowed to teach Creation, the teachers could talk about it as part of people's opinion rather than as the Truth. The teachers don't have to teach the Bible as though it's the Word of God, but can teach it's history and help both Christians and non-Christians get a better appreciation for it.
I mean, we learned about the Quran back in middle school in the early 2000s. It makes sense to learn the Bible in the context of early American history. Ignoring it would be ignoring history.

Genesis 19:30-36. I would LOVE to be in the classroom when this father raper story is taught! New International Version: Lot and His Daughters 30 Lot and his two daughters left Zoar and settled in the mountains, for he was afraid to stay in Zoar. He and his two daughters lived in a cave. 31 One day the older daughter said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is no man around here to give us children-as is the custom all over the earth. 32 Let’s get our father to drink wine and then sleep with him and preserve our family line through our father.” 33 That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and slept with him. He was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up. 34 The next day the older daughter said to the younger, “Last night I slept with my father. Let’s get him to drink wine again tonight, and you go in and sleep with him so we can preserve our family line through our father.” 35 So they got their father to drink wine that night also, and the younger daughter went in and slept with him. Again he was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up. 36 So both of Lot’s daughters became pregnant by their father.

Understanding Bible stories will help later in English Lit classes, the same as learning Greek Mythology. The stories are woven into historical writings and stories and it's easier to pick up on what the writer is saying when you already know the stories.I doubt these teachers are actually teaching sermons.
