Wow, what irresponsible reporting this is. The plane did not plummet 500’. Pilot error caused the plane to descend to 500’. This is not a Boeing story, nor was the plane acting on its own. Do better, people.

The two most over-used, hackneyed and sensational descriptive terms in the mass media lexicon are “plunge” and “plummet.”

Descended… did NOT DROP…. Over plains and looking at OKC airport lights! You can’t just report facts without misleading info to get view?

The pilots have precise sensors determining their flight level +- 3 feet, they have a ground proximity system, and close to the airport, they have CATx landing assistance. All pilots of all airlines fly by instruments if they do not have a clear visual sight of to ground and airport

This one is pilot error. Unqualified pilot pushed the wrong lever/dial. OOPS. A couple of these a week now.

Not all Pilots were military background. My father was a Captain with National airlines then Pan Am, was very young and known by many pilots from other airlines as “the Best”. Many of them got in with Eastern, Delta and American bc of him. He learned at (whiting field) I believe, def in Milton Fla…. Had a little plane when he was 16 and flew me home from Tallahassee Memorial when I was born. He was about 23. So, some of the best were not military. They produce great Pilots also. My son is one, go Airforce and another, like his grandfather, a civilian who learned the hard way… by mowing lawns and cleaning planes to trade for lessons. He’s also a really good pilot and Flight Instructor. Thank you to all you Pilots who sacrifice to study and get us where we want to go! ❤

Mentour video says ir is difficult to pick up the guide path from the bottom. This is a pilot error. This is a Southwest error, which adds an additional threat level to the situation.
