I'm amazed at how much your okra grew in a month! I've tried several times to grow okra with poor results, but I blame my zone 3 sometimes 4 area. However, I believe if I grew it under a hoop house I could get a crop. I grew artichokes this year by starting the seed indoors and setting the plants out in one of my hoop houses. They did great! Thanks for another great video.

OAG love your videos keep up the great work. Up here in Oklahome at our house okra is something always looked forward to, as of last night I've been blessed with a harvest of okra (445 lbs) & counting, we've cooked it everyway that there is & come up with a few new ways & pickled a lot. Have turned it on to people that had never tried it & a few who have had bad experiences with it (to slimy for them lol) everyone so far loves it. Then I start telling them the health benefits that okra has, after that they are sold to adding it to there summer diet. Now my question is how do you can it because we've (me & Beautiful Bride of 27 yrs the 22nd of this month) have never canned it so tips n tricks from u our end would be greatly appreciated & respected. Happy Gardening from us to ya'll

I moved from Pensacola to central Minnesota to be near my mom, and I miss okra so much! I love it raw out of the garden, and really any way. I try to grow it up here. It is hot for a bit of time, just not long enough. Maybe with global warming:)!! I love your videos.
@OldAlabamaGardener
@OldAlabamaGardener 5 лет назад
Hello and thank you for watching my videos. Yes, okra is definitely a hot weather plant. You might be able to grow it if you could start the plants early in the spring, perhaps as early as 1 March (depending on when your last frost is in the spring), in the house and then transplant them out when danger of frost is past. Then be ready to cover them in the fall.. OAG
@caba32503
@caba32503 5 лет назад
@@OldAlabamaGardener I plan on getting a hoop house next year which should extend season. Last frost date is May 27th, ist frost date is Sept 14th. Only leaves 114 growing days. Not like the south for sure.

@@caba32503 A hoop house or even low tunnel hoops will extend the season for many crops. Watch my video on doing that at: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p1kUJIUhr00.html AND at: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PZIyf6wNpNA.html OAG
