Bezic is wrong Pliner did NOT work with Baiul at the 1994 Olympics. The man at her side at those games was Valentin Nikolayev who was NOT a licensed coach. Oksana Baiul never had the services of a technical coach during her reign on the world/Olympic scene. If you're gonna gossip at least be right!

Oksana Baiul survived this awful American snake pit as long as she did because of her iron will & sterling character. She was always a fighter. She was badly mistreated behind the scenes & nobody talked about it. Americans inside the business, media & skating industries hated her. Many Russians & others resented her fame so she had no friends in skating. The girl was exploited & cheated out of her money its been revealed. Time always tells the tale. Oksana = greatest of skaters.
As a very good.personal friend of Oksana i agree with this statement.. I've seen it I've traveled with her. Oksana had her issues but some caused by all that you mentioned.
@@johnnyboii how lucky you were to travel with her, she's my favorite and I don't usually watch figure skating but ever since I seen her in 84 I've been hooked. I'm from USA and I'm ashamed of my country treating her so bad, how can people be so hateful and cruel? If I see someone without friends they've got a friend in me immediately, I've always been that way. If you talk to her let her know their are still grateful fans that wish her well and still watch her from those earlier years.
@@johnnyboii...thank you for sharing this. I had not heard it. I became a big fan of hers around the time if the 1994 Olympics. Loved and followed her skating for the years since. Now her adorable little girl is skating. Wonderful . She and her husband seem happy. ❤
How stupid, even tragic, that an incredibly talented artist / dancer has to spend her career getting "scored" and "judged', and getting "points off" for not doing a "trick" perfectly, like a circus pony. She is a dancer and a true artist, and what a shame she ended up having to do it in "competitive skating".
If it wasn't for competitive skating, she'd be a nobody. If she's so above getting scored and judged and partaking in competition, maybe she should give her Worlds gold to Surya Bonaly and her Olympic gold to Nancy Kerrigan/Lu Chen/Yuka Sato who all skated better than she did.
she earned it, thats what medals are for, if they could be given away it would have lost its point as a medal, and you are not a judge to judge what a good dancer is, the music is there not to be ignored, i noticed that the performances of oksana are never boring compared to the compilation of tricks of the people you mentioned
@@SDoesNotKnow...no they did not skate better. Sonya was a spoiled brat and way too technical....needed to be more graceful...like Oksana. And Nancy? She had an affair with a married man and broke up his marriage and then married him! No class. Oksana won because she was and is the best all around skater. It's not all tricks 😢.

They were tearing her down w/ criticism in order to diminish her value to audiences. They wanted to run her out of America & back to the Ukraine into poverty & obscurity since there is no skating market in Ukraine. She knew they were evil. She was not going to agree with them & thank them for trying to destroy her career. It was all she had in the world. Baiul had no family to fall back on she had to work under this horrid situation. Put yourself in her place before criticizing.

Ps. Tonya would've clubbed her, Nancy would've rolled her eyes before snapping at her and pushing past her. Lohan would've hit her with a car. Other celebrities would've been far, far worse.
She didn't make the double-axle because she didn't work with the speed to carry it into the jump. Baiul attempted the jump AFTER she'd lost speed. That's a no.
