Truelly impressive set of announcements . 4680 was announced by Tesla 4 years ago, but it is only in the latest cyber truck they have installed. OLA doing it from get go is a huge achievement.

Beware guys. First and foremost, EV sales are declining and not picking up globally. Ola bought Etergo, an Amsterdam-based company, in a fire sale and used their technology by raising funds from Tata, Softbank, and Tiger Global. So, there's no great innovation there, but their execution should be appreciated. If there's any innovation to mention in India's EV space, it's Ultraviolette Automotive and Ather. Now, this guy has come up with a battery technology that's also not an innovation but rather a component of his product, like any other part, such as a fork or suspension. He's now setting up his own factory for that part, which is also common. He's using nationality as a tool to manipulate his stock market price brand himself like Elon. If he wins, that will be good, but my gut feeling is that he's going to end up like Byju. Indians don't fall for him reasearch well on credibility anything that grows rapid comes down quicker ia a common advice in finance world.

Won't that increase the lattice space between cells (void space)? Bar shaped cells make more sense.

It is a lithium ion but it is very sad that we don't have any refinary in our country, and maybe no private company interested to developed a refinary, so I request to our Govt. introduced a PSU for minerals refinary.....

Didn't talk about energy density. When it's 5x size the previous battery what is the use of 5x energy. Wolrd needs to improve the energy density with faster charging and increased number of cycles.

Need a comparison of standard Li-ion vs Li-polymer vs 4680. Also, since the cell is bigger, lesser cells would fit into the pack. Or did they increase the pack size? Would have also loved a working demo from the transparent pack that Bhavish carried

This is obviously talk about production since tesla built 4680 first but great work anyways on 70 patents on unique production process! Indians need to spend 10X of what it does now on research in Universities without expecting any return for at least 10 years to see meaningful progress to innovate.
