Old and Rusted Hydraulic Jack Restoration

Nice restauration but why did you show all this job without the only thing you needed to show; the repair of the oil licking ?

Great Video, but you really shouldn't use gloves with the wire wheel. A little cut in the finger is a lot less worse than what might happen when a glove gets caught.

I wish I would've known about this restoration before getting rid of my hydraulic jack. I also believed the top portion was welded not screwed in...I thought it was one complete portion. Also, where did find seals?

I enjoyed this restore. I have never done this type of jack and I assumed the most crucial part of the job is replacing seals which can be difficult to find. Were you just lucky or did you realize that this was not necessary? EDIT: Another site mentioned rebuild kits are often about 70% of the cost of the bottle jack itself.

I have exactly the same bottle jack, it cames on Mitsubishi SUV and small trucks.

Why is your before and after thumbnail pic two different jacks? Why didn’t you restore the handle? Were you confused about what color to paint it or does going back and forth between two colors create some sort of effect?
