Do those guys have a channel? I had a 4x4 7.5 ton and 6x6 10 ton camper and soon learned that they can and do get stuck off road - mainly due to the weight - and then you need a BIG BIG truck to get you out and if you are in a remote place this can be impossible or very expensive. I met a lot of guys with similar trucks and they were sensible/scared enough never to go off road in low traction areas such as soft sand, deep snow, etc. So, yep, you can travel the world on and off road in a 2wd or 4x4 van if you will drive low traction terrain, there are ones big enough for all those things a truck can provide re space...and save a fortune in fuel, i know!

That’s a nice piece of kit mate. An ex military vehicle is the ideal base to start. As we know, no expense spared to keep them up to scratch, & way over serviced too. I remember the transition from Bedford to DAF. I went to do a short course at Borden around ‘92, when they first came out. Happy days. I’ve subbed, as I’m interested to follow your travels. I’m returning to England next year, after 17 years away, & I have plans to build out a transit, but I’m not planning on such “off piste” adventures.

hi mark,my guess is, your ex forces like myself,and your setup is great,EVERYTHINGIN ITS PLACE,AND EVERYTHING HAS A USE. so many of these OVERLANDERS??, have no idea about the use of diff lock,s, strops, shackles etc, and winches, more bothered about the frilly stuff on board. that has nouse whatsever.great vid buddy, look forward to more vids
