Hello All!
I've been collecting old books for a long time and since I recently scored many more for my journals and projects I thought I'd make a video to share what I look for when hunting for books and how I decide whether or not I want to take them apart. Some work well for altered books while others are are in such bad shape taking them apart and using the covers and page separately for new journals is a better idea. Some I like to scan and use in digitals so I'll share my research regarding copyright and what is in the public domain and can be used for scanning and digitals.
I'll also share the two most common types of bindings I find and how to take the books apart once I've decided that's what I want to do.
I'll be doing a couple of follow up videos to share what I do with the books I take apart. I'll have some ideas for using the original pages in your own handmade journals as well as sharing what I've scanned and how I'll use those scans in journals as well. Finally, I'll be sharing these items with you in the form of original page bundles as well as digital kits that will all be available in my Etsy shop.
Thanks for watching and I hope you've found this information helpful in your own search for old books.
Happy Hunting!
Sherri ❤️
